I had my 2nd Hair Transplant with Dr Wong.

Here are my photos:

This is what my hair looked like from my first procedure. We took a photo before it was shaved off:

Here are the grafts placed in the Crown:

Here are the technicians working on the density of the left side:

IMG_5588.jpg

I asked Dr Wong to move my recession forward on my left side:

IMG_5625.jpg

My density was better in the right side compared to my left, so I asked Dr Wong to focus on the hairline, crown, and left side:

I am looking forward to what this looks like in a year. icon_smile.gif

Edit:

This is where I started from:

Drew35,

Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on your second procedure with Dr Wong! As you know, he's an excellent surgeon. I specifically remember reviewing the photos from your first procedure, and it's good to see you progressing. I think the results from the first procedure were quite impressive, and the second surgery will really help enhance the prior work.

Keep us updated, and good luck!!

Congratulations on going through your second procedure with Dr. Wong. How many grafts did you end up getting?

I trust that the second procedure will help refine and add density to the the first. You've already come a long way!

Keep us posted.

Bill

Thanks Bill!

Dr Wong was really aggressive and he was able to get 3,100 grafts.

He said the donor closure was tighter than he liked, so he asked me to keep the staples in for 14 days.

But it's worth it to get that many grafts. icon_smile.gif

Dr Wong said the donor closure was very tight, so he wasn't sure.

I might have to go FUE for my 3rd surgery.

Looks fantastic Drew. Going in for a second procedure was absolutely necessary to you. And to get 3K more grafts is great. You are going to look good in the end.

Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008

Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013

Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020

Yeah some of us aren't as lucky as you and only need 1 surgery to have amazing results. icon_smile.gif

When you are a Norwood 6 V you better be mentally prepared for at least 2 to 3 surgeries.

In JMG544's blog he mentiones how much discomfort the staples caused him. I think he said he also had terrible itching.

But I agree that for me a 2nd surgery was no sweat and absolutely worth it. icon_smile.gif

It wasn't so much the discomfort, although I must admit that the first 2 weeks were uncomfortable as well as the following few days after the staples were removed, it's more to do with the downtime.

I had to make up some BS lies about why I need to wear a hat for work, since we are not allow to wear any. I kept a hat on for almost 5 months at work until I felt comfortable enough to have it off. I had to explain to colleagues with their never ending curiosity. I didn't want anyone to know, other than my immediate family, as it was personal and I made it through without any detection. So thinking about going under the knife and the experience again is cringeworthy.

but.. if another surgery is inevitable, I have no doubts in my mind that I will do this all over again. Oh, the price we pay to look a few years younger.

Drew,

Wow, congratulations on the first step of your journey-huge improvement...Curious about one thing though, in your part area the growth looks thin compared to the rest of your result.

What did Dr Wong say about addressing this part of your hairline? Is it just a matter of more density needed?

Again, your direct frontal shot is such a huge improvement...

Best,

Best,

That's why I asked Dr Wong to increase the density in my left side.

Dr Wong had a HUGE area to cover, so I was not concerned about it.

If my left side is still thin after this 2nd surgery then I will be concerned, but I think Dr Wong got it taken care of in the 2nd surgery.

I want to provide clarification on this.

At the end of my 2nd surgery I misunderstood Dr Wong at how difficult a 3rd surgery would be.

I have been informed that as long as I do my scalp exercises Dr Wong will be able to do a 3rd surgery no problem.

So I will be able to have a 3rd surgery with Dr Wong.

Depending on how much my donor loosens up the estimate is 1,500 to 2,000 in a 3rd surgery.

Congrats Drew, I think this should do it, but hey a 3rd will put you up in nicnitro territory!

BTW I left my staples in for 15 days to be extra careful with the scar. I also didn't lift again until week 12. You only get one shot at keeping the scar thin so I think you are being wise.
