Senior Member mattj Posted May 26, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 26, 2017 I saw this on my newsfeed this morning. I wish I could be more optimistic about these scientific breakthroughs, but they seem to happen so often and never lead to anything. I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Pete-from-Farjo
I remember back when I was 21 reading in The Sun newspaper about a hairloss breakthrough which would put an end to hairloss within 5 years. Now I'm pushing 47 and it seems we're not much nearer. Fingers crossed though that one of these 'breakthroughs' will one day be the real deal. Dr Blake Bloxham
As always, very interesting to read about new treatments. I do believe immune studies and auto-immune treatments will play a big role in immune-mediated alopecias -- like areata, totalis, universalis, etc, but I'm not yet convinced it plays a big enough roll in androgenic alopecia to be used as a treatment. And cost and the side effects of these medications will be an issue. But a good read nonetheless! Dr. Blake Bloxham is recommended by the Hair Transplant Network. Senior Member pkipling Posted May 26, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 26, 2017 I tend not to get my hopes up with these sorts of things either, but at the same time, I look around at all the progress being made in medicine and technology, and I really don't see why this couldn't be possibility in the relatively near future... But as Pete mentioned, cures and answers have been "right around the corner" for decades. Seriously though, eventually one of these predictions/findings has to pan out, right?
