ConfusedByChoice1
Hi, I was hoping to get some help. I have just started looking into FUE treatment for my receding hair (and balding on top) - I think I'm about a level 4?!? I thought it best to go for a hair consultation in my area (near Manchester, UK) to gain some information/ask questions about the procedure and get an idea of what is involved and cost. My wife and I went to see the Harley Street Healthcare Hair Transplant Clinic in Manchester (think they also go by the name of UK hair transplant clinic). The guy we saw was training to be a doctor/hair surgeon but was not the person who would be performing the surgery. After he had examined me and we'd talked about my expectations he drew on my head to show me what I could expect in terms of hairline. He said my donor site was very good as the hair there is thick and dense but that mine was "a big case". He said I would need a Giga FUE graft which is 3000 grafts or 6000 hairs to gain the density and coverage I would need. Usually this costs ?4799 but he could offer it to me for ?3599 if we could confirm this month. This was the only bit which worried me as otherwise we found the whole experience really professional and not at all 'sales-like'. The clinic where the procedure would be performed is in Essex and I would have a choice of surgeons from Dr Matee - MBBS, RCGP, BSC, Dr Shuja - MBBS, MRCGP, BSc (Hons) or Dr Maziar - MD, MRCS, FRCA, DOHNS. Has anyone heard of this clinic or the surgeons or have any experience of being treated there? They have 9.4/10 in their reviews on trusted reviews and seem well liked on 'what clinic' but I'm not sure if I should trust these sites. Also, I was considering getting another consultation at MHR clinic where Ryan Giggs was treated. Has anyone heard/had experience of this one. Finally, if anyone has recommendations of other good clinics I should get in touch with I'd be really grateful! I am happy to travel for treatment pretty much anywhere in the UK. Thanks in advance! Senior Member 1978matt Posted April 20, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted April 20, 2017 Farjo Clinic, Maitland Clinic (Dr Edward Ball), and The Private Clinic (Dr Raghu Reddy) are the only UK places I'd recommend. You could look at the Belgium Doctors who are 2hrs away by Eurostar: Bisanga, Lupanzula, Feriduni, Mwamba. Waiting lists will vary but overall the cost could be more favourable to the UK. The US is not as cheap as it used to be (had mine when it was $1.65/GBP), but 5 or 6 doctors who are the best of the best. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
Senior Member HairsGone Posted April 21, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted April 21, 2017 I agree completely with Matt's advice. Stay away from that clinic, when I researching UK clinics they came up on Google but I've not heard of any success stories on any forums which is a red flag . Also that price is too low for that many grafts unless you we're going to Turkey / India etc. FUT 3394 grafts, Dr Ball, London, July 2015 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180308-3394-fut-mr-ball-%40-ziering-london.html Combined FUT & FUE 3873 grafts, Dr Karadeniz, Istanbul, June 2016 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/183923-3-873-grafts-combined-fut-fue-dr-karadeniz.html

All of the doctors that Matt1978 recommended are ethical and well respected, so will look after you well, which is important, because everyone's donor is a finite resource, so every graft has to count. I had an operation with Dr Raghu Reddy a couple of weeks ago at his satellite practice in Selston cosmetic clinic: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186690-6000-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-2013%3B-1800-dr-de-reys-2014%3B-1200-dr-reddy-2017-a.html I decided to have my operation there because it is cheaper than his Harley Street clinic, and he only performs one operation per day at Selston (I think it is two at Harley Street). Personally, I opted for Reddy over Farjo, because he posts so many more FUE results and only uses a manual tool for extraction and I've heard a few bad things about ARTAS. I know Farjo also does manual FUE, but I think FUE is so specialised, that I opted for an FUE only doctor. Not that distance should matter, but Selston will not be far from Manchester, and in my opinion Reddy is a top, top doctor. I paid 5k for 1200 grafts, which works out at ?4.16 per graft. I'm glad you found this site before having your operation, because it is so important that you choose a skilled and ethical doctor. Please feel free to private message me if you would like to ask any questions about Dr Reddy. Edited April 21, 2017 by Edsarn2017 9133 FUE grafts over 4 operations: 1) Dr De Reys - 3000 grafts in 2012; 2) Dr De Reys - 1800 grafts in 2014; 3) Dr Raghu Reddy - 1200 grafts in 2017; 4) Dr Arshad - 3133 grafts in 2019 https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/54899-9133-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-in-2013-1800-dr-de-reys-2014-1200-dr-reddy-2017-3133-dr-arshad-2019/

Senior Member chris39 Posted April 22, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted April 22, 2017 Giga FUE ? Special deal if you sign by the end of the month ? Those 2 bits alone would make me run a mile . The only sites I would trust online would be the dedicated HT sites and forums . Trustpilot and the like are all well and good , but I'd take them wth a large grain of salt ! Regular Member David1986 Posted February 3, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted February 3, 2018 I think that sounds like a really good deal, I believe if it’s harley Street healthcare you are talking about they have a Dr Shuja working there who’s a wonderful hair transplant surgeon and has done many celebrities too. I wouldn’t have been put off at all and tbh I’m considering going with these guys too! Really well respected Clinic !

Don’t think we will ever know, he hasn’t signed in for over 4 years.
