Journey of HT:

Well i was aware of HT from long back but never gave attention till my hair get in bad shaped. There after i started my analysis about hair transplantation.

After much analysis and considering all the factor's i decided to do my hair transplant with Dr. Madhu in Hyd.I started exchange of emails with Dr.Madhu regarding my hair transplant.

Dr Madhu and Dr Deepak(Jr Doctor in Dr Madhu Team) always tried in best way to answer all my queries.

My HT date finalized to 22 dec and consultation on 21st Dec.

Consultation on 21st Dec:

Reached to Dr clinic at right time.In reception area there were lot of people waiting for their turn for consultation.

My first impression about clinic was good and it was very neat and clean. After all the formality like filling up the form etc i got chance to meet Dr Madhu directly and Dr Deepak introduced to me with him.

Dr Madhu is mid aged man with very down to earth and very polite person who like to satisfy his patients with all the queries.

Dr Madhu started examine mine scalp and he said you can get 2500-3000 with one strip surgery, but if you want more grafts then he can manage with the second strip(As per him he has developed this new technique where two strips are taken from the back for more no of grafts)from which you can get extra graft, say near about 1000,So total you can get near about 3500-3800 with two strips surgery in the same session.I was ok with this since i was looking for more number of grafts.

He answered all my queries in very good manner.

Transplantation:

On the date of transplantation i reached to clinic at correct time,Dr Deepak and his assistant explained the process of entire HT and after that they gave me couple of tablets and injections.Dr Madhu came and he draws the hair line and later he asked whether its fine or if you want you can draw your hair line as per your wish.

Again here Dr Madhu explanined that with two strips you can expect near about 3500 -3800 graft and with single strip 2500-3000.He also said this is just like two surgery into single session.I was ok with two strips since i was looking for more grafts.

After taking the photographs Dr Madhu asked me to lay down with my front exposing my head for strip harvesting.Dr Madhu says now you will feel pain here for only some moments, they put some injection in my donar area and after that i could not sense anything over there.Dr. Madhu made the took out the donor area and sutured it. He made all the incisions in the frontal area and later their assistants started placing the grafts.

Surgery take place around 7 hours and i had no pain and discomfort for the entire day. After the surgery i was taken into the rest room where i had juice and some biscuits(really feeling hungry) and i did not take much time to finish those things.

Dr Vijtha(Another Jr.Doctor in clinic) come and ask he how i m feeling and she suggested to take rest for atleast half an hour. After half an hour i got all the instructions for post operations precautions.

Finally in the last Dr Madhu came and explanined me that i got around 3360 grafts which is good number.

He gave his personal number if i face any problem then pls call me.Then i pick the auto and came back to my room

I m looking forward for my growth . icon_smile.gif

In summary, it was a great experience going to such a professional and caring clinic. icon_wink.gif

Pratik,

Congratulations on your HT. Although it is way too early to say anything, I am confident that your HT will yield awesome results since it was with Dr. Madhu. Thanks for sharing your experiences here.

Please do try to create a weblog of your HT on this forum with all the photos and descriptions so it is easy for others to see your progress through the months.

Good to hear that you have had a great experience. As Dr. Madhu might have told you already, the first 10-15 days after HT are important so stick to what he told you (like using that shampoo that he mentioned and showering with boiled and cooled down water etc) and you should be fine.

Dr Madhu took two strips from the same surgery?

Does this mean that you have two scars?

I have seen patients with two strip scars but never from the same surgery.

Is this correct or have I misunderstood your post?

confused,

I see nothing unusual about his postoperative photos. The work looks nice and clean. The fact that there's not much blood could be that Pratik didn't bleed that much and/or it was cleaned up very well during and after the procedure.

Pratik,

Congratulations on your recent hair transplant with an excellent physician. I'm a little confused about the double strip comment though. Can you further explain having two strips removed? Do you have photos of the donor area you can share?

Best wishes,

Bill

Stingray,Bill: Yes Dr Madhu has taken two strip from back in the same surgery. The second strip is smaller compare to usual one.

Purpose of taking two strips from the back was to get more number of grafts in the same session. As per Dr Madhu with one strip i was able to get maximum 2000-2800 in a session but with another small strip you can expect 1000 more grafts in the same session.

I m still wearing the head band given by dr madhu,Once i take off this band then will send you all the donar area pic.

To me the work just looks very clean. Remember, scabs may not be there IMMEDIATELY after surgery. When you have a laceration or incision, it does take a day or two sometimes for the wound to ooze, and the blood to dry to form the scab. Take a look at some of Dr. Hasson's work-his work is very clean and really alot of the time there are no scabs. Isn't this Dr. Madhu a new coalition member? It's nice to see this type of work.

Dear Pratik and Dr madhu

I know that people would like to take more grafts. I personally do not agree with two strips from two scars as it is as bad as doing a second surgery from a donor area and giving a second scar.

In my books that very very BAD. If you have good mobility I would rather take another small strip from the same donor area, I mean in the end I will assess the mobility by holding the edges together and see how easily they can be approximated. Once I know I can get another 2 to 3 mm strip, I will take it all along the strip and that would add certainly another 500 to 1000 grafts depending on the density. Then will close this donor area as one Scar. If this is how it was done I have no problems. On the other hand if two separate strip and two scars have been produced, then my friend I have very strong reservations.

Its very easy to correct the wide scar but very difficult to correct multiple scars.

Second you would not remain 30's or 40's, once you reach in 60's then even your donor hair will become thing and multiple scars will show through and will be much bigger a problem. At that age it will be even more difficult for you to hide that.

Anyway, This is my personal view, I am sure there will be quiet a few doctors who might differ with me.

Second,

YOU are type VI and according to you there was 40 grafts/sq cm in the mid scalp and 60 grafts /sq cm in front hair line.

Considering your facial profile you have more of round scal so the temporal to temporal area be minimum of 15 cm and the last part of grafted area be about another 12 cm (rough guess based on my experience) so we are talking about 180 sq cm area.

Lets do the maths, even if I do 40 grafts per sq cm for this area, i be looking at 7200 grafts.

so if you need minimum of 40 grafts per sq cm, you need another surgery of same number of grafts.

just a thought.

may be he told you that is what he would try to achieve at the end of two sessions. but then, i wonder, with two scar(if there are) the mobility will be seriously impaired and i wonder 3600 grafts be available at that time.

hmmmmm

Pratik,

Your post-op snap looks very neat and clean. Can you just upload some snaps showing your scar.

Dr Madhu is a fine surgeon.i guess he is some years behind the top docs. From the results i have seen he just needs to put in some more thought while extracting grafts from the donor area. His results are just too good to be true minus the donor scar

Thanks Dr Humayan for taking time out and providing the valuable feedback.

My intention was to get as much as possible in a single session.Dr Madhu told me before HT that he has developed this new technique where two strips are taken from the back to implant the more no. of grafts in a single session.

Further i asked whether it should be good to take two strip from back and i got response that it's just like taking one strip from back.

I believe Dr Madhu can explain about this new technique and advantage of doing this.

About density,Dr Madhu explained the same math during the consultation with him.My expectation about density was that it should be good dense in frontal compare to mid scalp.

HaiRisWhere: Will try to post my donar pic ASAP.

Pratik,

The question I'm still waiting to see answered is whether or not the two strips removed has given you one or two scars. Can you elaborate? Also, can you have someone take a picture of the back of your head and then present it so we can see your scar(s)?

I've also emailed Dr. Madhu to respond to this question and present his reasons for this approach.

Thanks and Best wishes,

Bill
