A journey which I have been planning for since 2013. Finally, I have been able to achieve what was part of the bucket list thanks to my wife and to all you members.

Synopsis:

33 years old with hair loss which started in 2010 and no prior medications to at least save my native hair. After an extensive research I opted to do the HT with Dr. Koray for the obvious reasons - simply the best.

Arrived to Istanbul after a 3 hour flight on June 29th, one day after the airport bombing. Needless to say, security was intensive and felt safe and I advice everyone who has second thoughts about Turkey to set them aside.

Reading through a detailed and meticulous write up might be boring, therefore I will skip this and get straight to the point. The best clinic I have been too and believe me when I say I have been to top clinics around the world. Clean, sophisticated, friendly staff, and most importantly the most sophisticated HT doctor alive.

Total donor capacity - 8,550

Caliber of hair - 65 microns

Temporal - 410 grafts (2.18 hair/graft)

Parietal - 1,393 (2.37 hair/graft)

Occipital - 1,700 (2.46 hair/graft)

Hair loss area - 70 cm2

Single - 305

Double - 1,704

Triple - 1,324

Quadruple - 161

Quintpule - 9

Day before surgery - got picked up by Hekmat (Driver), went to take a few pics and to get consultation. Got my head shaved and Dr. Erdogan drew a hairline which is 7cm above my eyebrows. Wanted a lower hairline but having read through hundreds of threads and forums, always better to stick to a natural look rather than a I am a 18 years old boy look.

Day of Surgery - had a huge breakfast, driver arrives at 7.10am and went to the clinic. Had my head shaved again and washed. Went into the surgery room at 8am. I had 3 other guys (Swedish, Jordanian, and German) with me. Each was in a separate surgery room but I have informed them about this website and I hope they also participate in sharing their story, pics, and progress here. Was introduced to my operation team, Sevinc (my coordinator) was standing next to me during the entire operation and I must say she has been a helpful hand in this experience. Dr. Umut (anesthesiologist) aka my drug dealer game me 2 pills to pop because I must confess I was pretty anxious and my heart was pounding like a leopard. Got my donor area numbed with painful shots. "No pain no hair" I was telling myself. I opened my ITunes playlist and started jamming with the operation team. By 12 noon I was done. Went for a delicious lunch and a back massage by a Japanese masseuse which helped loosen me up.

Back to the surgery room and another pill was provided to me by Dr. Umut then walk in the king of FUE himself, Dr. Erodgan, and did all the incisions. Then work continued up to 5pm. All I got to say, it was a long day and couldn't wait to go back to the hotel.

Post surgery - Driver picked me up and my wife tagged along given that she will be washing my head for me. Pretty simple and straight forward. Will start taking propecia for a year.

Thanks again to you guys for helping me decide through this. I will update this thread once a month with my progress. Wish me luck.

In addition, I opted for PRP to expedite the healing process. I paid EUR 10K net of all costs excluding my flight ticket. I am planning on staying in Istanbul for another week to go sight seeing. It is indeed a beautiful country with rich history.

I would be more than happy to respond or clarify on any questions you might have.

Bahrain,

When I saw your first post I was just about to ask if you could present some photos of Dr. Erdogan's work. However, after scrolling down I see you've included them in a reply.

Honestly, Dr. Erdogan's work always impressed me. His work is ultra refined, the grafts and incisions are very tiny, allowing for more dense packing and optimal growth. I look forward to seeing what your hair looks like in the next 6 months to a year. I trust you will be very happy with your results.

Thanks for sharing and I look forward to watching your transformation.

Best wishes,

Bill

Bill - I have been a silent lurker in this forum for many years and I will give back to this community regardless of the outcome (hoping it is a positive one). What shocked my system was ASMED's clinic vis-a-vis the hygiene and modern design not to mention the facilities.

Starscream - good density might be an overstatement but as Dr. Erdogan has conveyed that for an Arab it is above average.

Stig - thanks for the vote of confidence

Wizzkidd24 - killer result is what I am looking for but will setlle for anything other than my previous hairline and density.

I'm the other Swedish guy that had the surgery together with you.

I'm doing fine. My hair looks good. I washed it this morning and it was no problem. Just difficult to sleep with the neck pillow.

When I look at my hair, even though it's so short right now, I feel much happier than in many years now from looking at the sad excuse I used to have(according to me).

I did 3.154 grafts. I'll post pictures later if you want. Again, I'm very happy I choosed Dr. Koray!!

Hey Swed760Li - great to see you on this forum and thank you for participating. It would be great if you can start a new thread to share your experience and pics (pre and post operation).

I really hope we can catch up in person in the near future.
