Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted March 1, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2015 30 year old male presented to our clinic with concern for frontal hair loss and vertex thinning. Now stable with finasteride, we grafted 3000 FUE grafts over a 2 consecutive day session, with 2000 to the frontal forelock and hairline, and the remaining 1000 to the vertex. Caution was taken in the vertex grafting to avoid transection of the native hair and replicate hair angles. Finasteride also played a substantial role in the outcome to his vertex. Dry/wet before photos, immediate post-op photo, and 6 months post-op photo is presented. All grafts were manually extracted and placed by the physician. JoeTillman
You've got a nice variety of photos here but the afters could use a bit of additional exposure. The coverage is exceptional so I imagine the finasteride influence was exceptional but the work overall looks solid. Would you have any photos of the hairline lifted and exposed? Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted March 1, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks Joe, these are the photos we have. This patient should be coming in for a 9 month follow-up, and I'll make sure we get close-ups. Senior Member Sean Posted March 1, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted March 1, 2015 Nice work doc! Doctor Vories, is it true you extract each graft yourself manually? Is it true you do lower number of grafts a day and focus on a patient per procedure versus multiple patients a day? If you do, Is there a reason you follow this FUE protocol? Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted March 1, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2015 In my clinic I incise, extract, and implant all grafts myself. For this reason, my clinic only schedules one surgery per day. Also because of this, I max out at 2000 grafts per day. For cases over 2000 grafts, we schedule consecutive day sessions. In my opinion graft selection, angle of extraction, recipient distribution, and angle of insertion are all surgical decisions, and should be made by the surgeon who will be responsible for the final outcome. Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted March 1, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) This also keeps my overhead down, which allows me to charge $4.00 per FUE graft. Senior Member Spanker Posted March 2, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted March 2, 2015 I agree with Joe that you could have a little crisper photos. He's the photo expert so I guess it could be exposure tone would lighten then up and lose the grain. That said, I've seen great improvement in your cases (since you left neograft?). Looks like a good case. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.
