Senior Member Manuel Posted June 23, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted June 23, 2014 It was back in July 2009 when I have noticed that I have been losing a lot of hair. From 2010 onwards I had a little bold patch at the crown which I tried to combat with Minoxidil (5% strength). As my hair loss was keep progressing, I exposed my scalp to all sort of lotions and potions. I have used products like: RU58841, Copper Peptides, Nioxin, Nizoral, Biotin, Retinol, Saw Palmetto, Caffeine shampoos, and treatments such as laser and PRP injections. Conclusion: The treatments helped to reduce the weight of my wallet. Keep suffering from hair loss and pretty much fed up with all the miracle products being touted, I decided to have a hair transplant. I’ve been checking numerous hair transplant websites, reading patient stories and also consulted a number of surgeons here in Australia. Considering the prices ($25k – $31k for 2500 FUE grafts) and consultation experiences it was clear to me that I would not consider a local clinic. Whilst I have no doubts that our Australian surgeons are able to perform an excellent job, I felt on a number of occasions that they were spending more time on promoting themselves than on the actual service. It’s no surprise to me that so many people choose to travel overseas for surgery. In my case, it was a trip to India. Surgeon of my choice was Dr.Bhatti in Chandigarh Surgery took place a fortnight ago (06.06.2014) 2432 FUE Grafts in total = 766 single, 1250 double, 416 triples
Senior Member Manuel Posted June 23, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Had no pain but also no sleep. Trying to sleep in an upright position is not that nice ( even with a travel cushion). Returned to the clinic in the morning for a hair wash ( and another shave). New dressings were applied and medication given. The staff explained how to wash the hair and how to apply the lotions. As I felt fine, I decided to have some retail therapy for the rest of the day. However in the evening my forehead started look a little bit awkward. Obviously my body reacted to the surgery and produced some swelling. Perfect moment to go in public and to scare some people LOL Edited June 23, 2014 by Manuel

Regular Member Dog Posted July 17, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted July 17, 2014 Great post, Manuel... Looks awesome! I'm from Oz and also travelled to India to visit Dr Bhatti 15 days ago. Things are coming along well for me too. My recipient area is growing really quickly and I'm hoping it doesn't shed (but I know it probably will). Donor area was good as gold after about 5-7 days. Keep us posted as you're exactly a month ahead of me.

I was only in Chandigarh for 2 nights - the night before and the night after - then flew home. I'm off work for a few weeks so all good. Hoping it will be almost undetectable by the time I go back. Senior Member Manuel Posted July 18, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2014 thanks ontop I'll keep posting updates here @dog. I was in Chandigarh for 7 days ( mainly to have enough time to recover and to be able to see the Doctor if necessary ) My recipient area was growing rapidly until the shedding kicked in week 3. The peak of my ' ugliness' was pretty much around week 4. Luckily things have started to improve ..... the neighbor kids no longer run away ....LOL

Regular Member Dog Posted August 1, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 1, 2014 Looking good mate. I've lost about 70% of my transplanted hair and I'm pretty sure I can see heaps of new ones poking through, so fingers crossed for both of us. I am now one month and two days and go back to work in 10 days... Going to be interesting as I'm still a bit red in the hairline and temples. Regular Member woodraider Posted August 6, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 6, 2014 Dog - M worried about the same thing. I am just completing my 2 weeks and will be joining office after 4 days. I was told that the scalp looks normal withing 15 days, so planned my leave accordingly. But I think it would stay red and look weird for at least few more weeks. Wondering how m I gonna manage till then. @Manuel - Good progress! I am about 6 weeks behind you, so will be closely monitoring your progress. Wish you the best!!
