Crown HT suggestion needed

Hi,

I have already had my first HT in the front 2/3rd region by Dr. Cooley 11 months back. I am now thinking about getting a second HT in the crown region. I wanted to get inputs from you guys about a good quality surgeon who can work on my crown. Based on the research done on this website, I have found the following three to be good in terms of their work on crown: Dr. Hasson and Wong, Dr. Rahal and Dr. True. I am currently 29 and have been on propeica for the past one year. Many doctors seem to suggest against crown work..especially when you are young. Should I wait and stick with propecia? or should I go ahead? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The million dollar question...what to do with the crown.

 

Simply remember that your crown is a black hole for grafts. Once you remember that, plan accordingly.

 

I would stick with propecia and wait a couple of years. It is thinning back there, but I don't think it is all that bad. I would wait and see what happens, but that is just my two-cents.

Ultimately, one does not need to do a full crown restoration.

 

You do a partial restoration to the anterior part of the crown and style your hair back.

If you want more hair in the front, then you might be able to add some to the crown, but I wouldnt go back for just the crown.

I plan to get my crown addressed as well, and I figure Cooley is as good as anyone. Have you considered him?

I know Dr. Cooley has done some good work in the front part. I haven't seen any before and after transplant photos in the crown region. So I am not yet considering him.

Can this work? I'm curious because im an NW6 who has had one HT but next session i want to address my crown. Any more info would be great.

I'm interested to hear opinions about this as well. If it was totally slick below the part that was addressed would it really look natural, or would it look like you had a slick crown too low since the higher part of the crown would not be slick?

 

I read that Dr Paul Shapiro takes the approach of dividing the crown into thirds. The top thirds they do with density around 30grafts/cm2 the middle third with 20 and the bottom third with 10.

 

I can see how this makes sense but, I also wonder how much it ties you into wearing your hair reasonably long.

I'm also 29. Had one procedure for the front. And I'm also thinking of getting some work done on my crown in the future. But I will also need to add some density in the frontal 2/3rds. Your crown isn't too bad right now. I'd wait it out a couple years as well. And I think with your type of hair, dermmatch or toppik would go along way with your crown.
