Recovery time after FUE procedure/working in construction.

Recommended Posts

I currently work in construction & am looking at the option of having a FUE procedure (Approx 2,500 grafts) later this year. From the day of the procedure I will only have 14 days off work to recover, is this enough time & will having to wear a hard hat (construction helmet) 2 weeks after the procedure effect the healing.

Thanks in advance for your responses/help with this subject.

If you've chosen a doc, you'll definitely want to email this question to em. But I think most docs lift the no physical activity and hat restrictions by 2 weeks for FUE, so more than likely you'd be fine. I think the main issue you would have is if the lining in the hard hat where it connects with your head directly overlapped some of the grafts... if it did, it's a bit risky just 2 weeks out IMO. Otherwise, I think you'd be fairly safe. But definitely ask a doctor when you can.

Yes, it is, but like Rootz stated above. Post op questions are best to be directed to your doc. I would encourage you to have good communication with him about these matters. Post op care is very important. Since I'm sure you've chosen a doctor you can trust, I would make sure to have an open dialogue about such matters with him or her.

I think wearing a hat would be fine, however wearing a hard hat and sweating all day and the heavy hat causing friction on the newly grafted area really might affect the result in a bad way

does the hard hat rub against the area that will be worked on currently? this is something you have to consider, and definitely discuss with your doc as the guys mentioned above

go dense or go home

Kop,

It is difficult to say. Frankly, you will likely be "borderline" for physical activity and permanency of the grafts by day 14. It can really go either way, and this is why it would be best to obtain an answer directly from your doctor and follow his/her post-operative instructions closely.
