Mick from Farjo
This is a patient who came to us at age 41 with extensive loss and was using Finasteride and Minoxidil. He had good donor hair density (90 F.U cm2)but the area was short. We initially planned to do 8,000 FUE in two sessions but he had excellent recovery in his donor hair. Between 2008 and 2013 we were able to undertake 5 procedures in total. 1?HT: 4044 FU’s (0.75 mm punch, 45 microns of hair) 2?HT: 3777 FU’s (0.75 mm punch) 3?HT: 2234 FU’s (0.75 mm punch, 4400 hairs; 1.96 hair/graft; 647FU1/1076FU2/443FU3/86FU4) 4?HT: 1715 FU’s (0.75 mm punch; 3854 hairs; 2.24 hair/graft; 299FU1/796FU2/521FU3/95FU4/4FU5) 5?HT: 1601 FU’s (0.8 mm punch; 3601 hairs; 2.24 hair/graft; 227FU1/846FU2/438FU3/87FU4/5FU5) Mick VIDEO VIMEO: VIDEO YOUTUBE: Patient coordinator for Dr. Bessam Farjo who is an esteemed member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians
Senior Member KO Posted March 21, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 Absolutely fascinating. NW7 transplants typically look unnatural, but this is done as well as it possibly can be. 3382 FUE Lupanzula http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185463-3382-grafts-lupanzula.html

Senior Member Nick153452 Posted March 23, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 I dunno, I'm torn on this. On one hand, he has good coverage, but on the other hand, it's too thin for my liking. Yes, he did have a lot of field to cover, but at a certain point I don't feel that hair transplantation is the best option. When someone has great coverage but low density, it starts to look unnatural. Maybe this is just my opinion? I can understand this notion, but any norwood 7 is going to struggle getting good coverage AND density. There is just so much area to cover that there is going to be a compromise somewhere. I have seen guys who were norwood 6 get close to 10,000 grafts with good density in the frontal third and mid-scalp, but were lacking in the crown and had much higher hairlines than this gentleman. Senior Member hairthere Posted March 23, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Nick, I agree that in terms of aesthetics this is not my favorite HT example. From the front view this result looks a bit like he's wearing a hairpiece. This can be remedied by adding some grafts to the temples, temple points, maybe a slight widows peak, etc. It's almost like he has the roof now he just needs the walls to hold it up. That being said, from a shear coverage aspect via FUE this is quite an accomplishment. He probably has enough grafts on the bank for added density, too. And, I'm sure the patient is pleased. Senior Member KO Posted March 23, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 The big issue here was that his sides were low. That uses up a lot of grafts. I would love to see this guy in person, I have a feeling it will look better in real life than on the internet, especially if he is an older guy. 3382 FUE Lupanzula http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185463-3382-grafts-lupanzula.html
Senior Member Nick153452 Posted March 24, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 I think that at this point, this patient would do very well with some concealers. I mean, he has the coverage, and a decent density -- it's just that his density isn't enough to hide the skin/hair contrast. I would love to see what he could look like with concealers.
