Senior Member xtatic5 Posted December 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 20, 2012 I've scheduled a HT with an overseas surgeon and he prefers cash payment. While the surgeon has an established reputation on this site, I feel uneasy about making such a large purchase in cash, let alone carrying it in an unfamiliar country. Does anyone have experience with this? I would think that a surgical practice would accept credit cards.

Senior Member Cant decide Posted December 21, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 21, 2012 Definitely not cash. Credit cards charge steep foreign transaction fees so be careful. I suggest paying by certified check. If you lose it, it can be cancelled and all docs will accept it. Senior Member xtatic5 Posted December 21, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 21, 2012 Those are great suggestions but I don't know the price of the procedure yet because we are not set on the number of grafts I'll need. Also, is it wise to pay in advance?

Yes, I've had a couple of sessions with Dr Pathomvanich in Thailand and paid in cash on the day.

Senior Member MrJobi Posted January 1, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 1, 2013 Of course he wants cash, no service fee and instant payment in full. Right now money is cheap so paying a large cash sum is foolish. I would ONLY pay cash if the doctor gives a significant discount which is fair to ask for if you plan on paying in cash. Otherwise, you can get points, miles, etc on your paymentby using a credit card with perks . Remember, you are the customer and in the drivers seat JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations.
