Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted December 15, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 I've always found the cream and liquid hard to distribute in all the areas with just the stated amount you should use each time. There's no way the little scoop of minoxidil cream can get to my whole crown and midscalp. I'm going to switch to the foam soon (going to try Kirkland as it's cheaper than Rogaine) and was wondering if you can distribute that to all the problem areas in one 'session' so to speak? Anyone with experience of this? 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week. Senior Member orlhair1 Posted December 15, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 I have used foam for years and it is very easy to apply. I have no issues getting it to cover all of the area needed. Senior Member 1978matt Posted December 15, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 I need to cover hairline to crown and the recommended capful is nowhere near enough! I probably use 3-4 capfuls if im honest as so much gets clogged in native hair. The situation I'm sure is different for people with buzz cuts. I've never tried the liquid so I cant comment on the difference. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted December 15, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 Thanks for your replies I'm used to paying 140 every 3 months for my minoxidil, when I'm paying 90 for a 12 month supply I suppose I wont be too concerned about using extra to get across the scalp. 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Regular Member JohnKnee Posted December 18, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted December 18, 2012 How about using both 5% foam and liquid each day; morning and evening, respectively. Since I have short hair, I can get away with 3/4 cap full of foam to cover entire crown to temples. With liquid, 1ml is enough and this will ensure entire area is soaked with Minoxidil. I have been using this combo for a few months now and found better regrowth. I bought 6 months of 5% foam and 12 months of 5% liquid; 63.69US and 49.49US, respectively with shipping of 28.00US from Amazon. This should last me a good 2 years. Senior Member jerzig Posted December 27, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2012 I use the kirkland foam and don't have any trouble getting it where it needs to go. The only issue is you will go through it quicker than the directed one-month-per-bottle rate if you are using it on all of your effected areas rather than just the crown. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2579
Senior Member jerzig Posted December 27, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2012 But the Kirkland stuff is fairly cheap so that really shouldn't be much of a worry, right? I probably go through a can every three weeks or so. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2579
