Senior Member micknick Posted June 15, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 15, 2012 Ok anyway- since my appointment with advanced hair studio- they call me about once a week trying to get me in on some kind of deal or another. The latest was 'We've made our target already this month so everything on top is a bonus so looking to give you a hell of a deal' They are really pushy and anyone that pushy is obviously desperate. Wouldnt touch them with a barge pole thanks to this forum.

Senior Member michaeljames Posted July 2, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 2, 2012 Hey Mate; I look forward to the pics. Sounds like you have pulled the hair bulb and all. The bulbous expansion at the proximal end of a hair, in which the hair shaft is generated. I hope that you have not damaged your epidermis in the area you pulled out the hairs. If these hairs and unwanted see an HTN surgical specialist to help you with the pulling and also provide some insight into HT possibilities for you. Senior Member michaeljames Posted July 2, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 2, 2012 Took a new picture today- hair maybe slightly longer but the front has thinned out quite a bit since using Minoxidil foam religiously. Think that the rest is looking thicker though... Hey Mate, Thanks for putting up a clear pic. The image does seem to indicate some early stages of thinning hair in the center hairline and crown. There is also that patch right at the front center. Is this where you pulled the hairs out? Also have you had an in-person consult or an online consult with one of the great HTN recommended surgeons like Parsa Mohebi, MD and others recommended on HTN. NotSureYet
Could anyone advise about if the procedure does not take (ie. the transplanted hair does not stay in and falls out anyway) for certain individuals? Can someone explain the shock loss effect? The transplanted hairs are placed around the current growing hairs. Now, will those current growing hairs in the recipient region, will they fall out? Do they grow back, etc?
Senior Member micknick Posted August 1, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 1, 2012 Had my hair cut yesterday. My hairdresser who Ive had for 10 years commented on my crown that it was loads thicker and he could see new hair growing on the crown where it is thin. This is purely on fin as I use minox on my temples and front. This is a wonderful drug if you dont have any side effects, been a year now and the crown is so much better than it was. Just wish it worked as well on the front!
Senior Member micknick Posted August 1, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 1, 2012 I know this thread is slightly self indulgent but it helps me to put it out there as I dont speak to anyone else about it really and I want to chart my experience for any new users that may be interested. Senior Member micknick Posted August 26, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 26, 2017 So its been a few years on since I was taking the meds and although they helped the hairloss continued. I have had a few consultations and decided to take the plunge with Dr Farjo in Manchester. I actually had the surgery on Thursday. I travelled up on the Wednesday and stayed close by at a local Premier Inn, I got up early and had some breakfast bars and a coffee and got to the clinic at 07.30. I was treated very nicely and had another consultation with Dr Farjo and Dr Rachel. Thet drew the outline and said that if any grafts were left over they would put into my crown which I was pleased about as would loved to have given it a boost. Hairline drawn on: Straight after op: One day after surgery: Ill keep you updated as would love to chart how it develops myself.

Senior Member micknick Posted August 29, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2017 So Im on day 5 after the surgery. Ive had some swelling the last couple of days hit me right in between the eyes which makes me not really look like myself. What with the shaved head as well I go from thinking 'oh my god what I have done' to then being really positive about it as have talked about it for years. My biggest concern is I have some big meetings coming up with work and I dont want to be looking like I am now and being really self concious. I have a big meeting on 15th September so race against time to get looking a bit more normal. Any tips most welcome...

Senior Member micknick Posted August 29, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2017 Donor area looks very good after five days, You consider buzzing it all down? Well its probably the one thing that Im pretty negative about, the plan was to keep it long on top and brush forwrad like I did before the op as I had very little in the front anyway but we went quite far into it from the front so there is no way of covering it up. Im going to wait as long as possible for thr rest to grow and see what my barber can do to event it all up. Im currently hiding away for a just over a week. Senior Member micknick Posted August 29, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) Mick, While laser hair restoration is controversial amongst hair restoration physicians and patients, at best, it may help to slow down or stop hair loss as long as you continue treatment. There's some evidence suggesting that laser therapy may increase your overall hair count, but in my opinion, it's hardly enough for any significant cosmetic improvement. In my opinion, the cost of laser treatments you might receive at clinics far outweighs any benefits. Thus, I'd suggest consulting with leading hair restoration physicians to explore your non-surgical and surgical options. If you're in the UK, I'd strongly suggest consulting Coalition member Dr. Farjo who does outstanding hair transplant work. Also, if you're not already on them, I'd strongly consider getting on Propecia and Rogaine, which are proven far more effective than any other non-surgical treatment - although, nothing other than surgical hair restoration is proven to grow hair in completely bald areas. If you are real compelled to try laser therapy, you might consider investing in the much less expensive laser comb or laser cap. But I wouldn't expect too much from them. Read more about low level laser therapy hair loss treatment. Best wishes, Bill Hi Bill is there any chance of moving this thread into the FUE forum and maybe changing the title to- 1900 grafts Dr Farjo FUE' ? Senior Member micknick Posted August 30, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 30, 2017 So today took took the decision to get the bit that I was hoping to leave long to try and cover up- there was no way it was going to be possible. Head is tingling quite a bit today so maybe starting to get some feeling back. The swelling has gone down loads so dont look like Ive gone 10 rounds with Tyson which is great. Feel pretty self concious as I suppose we all do in that we get this done because we dont want to be bald and then in teh process we go bald before we get anywhere... Back is looking like nothing happened- its itchy and i can feel the scabs though. Does anyone put any lotion to help the scabs not be so dry after the 7 days? Senior Member micknick Posted August 31, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 31, 2017 So a week on from the surgery. I washed my hair without a flannel today and have been totally freaked out- I gently massaged in the shampoo supplied by Farjo and gently rinsed it, I then looked down at my hand and could see a lot of hairs, different lengths but a fair few tiny ones. I did have my hair trimmed yesterday so am hoping that its left overs from that. There were quite a few so pretty scary! Anyone had experience of this? Anyway todays photos:
Regular Member wilkinte Posted August 31, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2017 No problem. Could be shedding of the transplanted hairs. After a week the grafts are secure, if you "pull" one of them out they'll be blood running down your forehead. Many if not most of the transplanted hairs will shed, ugly duckling stage will set in. Lots of writing about that in the forum, including my thread. Just gotta hang in there. Looks good to me overall
