Senior Member N-6 Posted December 4, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 4, 2011 What have your docs recommended post-op regarding things like dermamatch, toppix, nanogen, couvre, etc . . . in the recipient area? Does anyone know if this can affect yield? Thanks!
Regular Member salami Posted December 4, 2011 Regular Member Posted December 4, 2011 Take a look at this thread: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/159726-psa-use-concealers-possible-complications.html
Regular Member patwillpat1 Posted December 4, 2011 Regular Member Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) great link. i've been told to limit the use of concealers to minimize the chance they could stunt growth and cause poor yields (may not be noticeable, but you can never be sure). Yet for most people, its absolutely impossible to go back into the real world without concealers after a HT. So I guess if one must use concealers, probably best to just believe they don't have an effect. I rather possibly lose some grafts rather than walk around with a weird looking scalp. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted December 4, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 4, 2011 You'll get a variety of answers from docs on this one. I personally believe that if you wash them out every night then there shouldn't be a negative impact on the yield. Also, don't cake the concealers on. Doctors seem to be more open to the nanogen or toppik fibers as they don't have to be rubbed onto the scalp like dermmatch or couvre. Regular Member Dr. Glenn Charles Posted December 4, 2011 Regular Member Posted December 4, 2011 If possible try to avoid using the concealers for at least the first few days until there is complete scab formation. The best scenario is to wait until all the scabs have fallen off, but if you must use it earlier make sure to wash it off before going to bed. Some of my patients have told employer that they had something removed from scalp and asked to wear a hat for a few days to avoid using concealers for the first week post-op.
