Senior Member Cant decide Posted October 2, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 2, 2010 Hi Guys - I am going in for surgery in a couple of weeks. What type of hat do you guys recommend wearing post op? I would like to wear a ball cap but it may be too tight. Can you suggest any other type of loose fitting hat that is at least somewhat en vogue? Senior Member Surfarosa Posted October 2, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 2, 2010 Thinnest beanie you can find. Soft cotton is best & get a size that's loose fitting on your noggin. I get mine from surf or snowboard shops as I'm big into both. I felt so comfortable in mine I went shopping straight after one of my surgeries. Also, if you get an itch you can just gently press the soft hat rather than having to take it off. Good luck.
Dr. Glenn Charles
Baseball caps are ok. Just make sure that you get one that is adjustable and clean. Expand the cap to a few sizes larger than you would normally wear. Never drag the hat up or down along the hairline if work was done in that area. Should probably wait until the morning after the procedure before you start wearing it. This way if there is still a little oozing occuring from the grafts they will not stick to the inside of the hat and be pulled out when the hat is removed. Senior Member hairthere Posted October 4, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2010 A bandana can do the trick too.... I am the owner/operator of AHEAD INK a Scalp Micropigmentation Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. www.aheadink.com
Senior Member Tom60 Posted October 4, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2010 wouldn't a bandana put too much pressure on the scalp? I would stick to a light beanie.
Regular Member VickTayback Posted October 10, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) Yep, something sterile, clean, cool, cotton, loose fitting. The skateboard community and snow skiing community have some European looking type things that are a combination of something youd' wear around town that worked well for me. Like this: Skateboard Beanies and Skateboarding Accessories FREE Shipping But if i wore a baseball cap, I made sure it had a cotton insert that i would carefully lay over my scalp first.....at least the first couple weeks. The name of the game is coddling those grafts the first two weeks--not roughing them up. Edited October 10, 2010 by VickTayback
