Senior Member hairbank Posted July 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted July 13, 2006 Medically speaking, no, I have no idea. However, I would assume once your grafts are seated and your scalp is healed (maybe about 2 months out) you'd be okay. Call your Doc to check for sure. I just started using JFM a month a couple months ago (at around 2 1/2 months from HT #2) and have had no irritation from it. It works pretty good. A word of advice to you if you've not used it before......GO LIGHTER IN COLOR THAN THEY RECOMMEND! Possibly 2 shades. I tried Dark Brown ('cause I thought that was my color) and when I finished I had hair the color of Elvis! Senior Member dhuge67 Posted July 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted July 13, 2006 Is it a misconception that coloring your hair is damaging to the hair? Will it really dry it out and harm it badly? I wouldn't mind doing something with mine...but I'm wary. 1,614 with Dr. Pistone on 2/3/06 in Marlton, NJ. Regular Member hrthr Posted July 13, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted July 13, 2006 I have had the same question, I am about 5 1/2 months out. I think the issue is the alcohol. But I think most mox has alot also.
Senior Member JakeVig Posted July 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted July 13, 2006 I doubt its the alcohol since some doctors recommend minox on the recipient area for faster growth. But I've read that you should wait 3 months before colouring your hair in my post op instructions so it must be something. 1344 grafts with Ron Shapiro - June 2006
HAIRBALD
I have documentation from Dr. Limmer that states 7 days post-op you can do this. Contact me via email if you want a copy of this paper work.
Senior Member Janna Posted July 24, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted July 24, 2006 The recommendation from Dr. Shapiro's clinic is wait two months post surgery to color your hair. Senior Member JakeVig Posted July 24, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted July 24, 2006 Hi Janna, Yes I read the same thing in my post op instructions. What is the reason for the wait? 1344 grafts with Ron Shapiro - June 2006
