I pulled the trigger with Dr. Wong and got 7,000+. I'm at Month three??¦??¦..
Sounds like one of the largest sessions that I've heard of and you should look phenomenal in a year's time. Hang in there buddy!
one of the 8yr olds told me I should start shaving my head again, because I looked like a grandpa.Kids are brutually honest , but they seldom have cruel intentions.
We are the only ones who are really bothered by it, other than a maybe the exceptional few of the opposite sex.Bill is always right!

Let me be the first to say WTF!!

Because more grafts were placed on the right side I assume that there was more loss on the right side. This indicates the blood supply is more compromised on that side and may take longer to recover to serve the transplanted hairs.
Good reasoning!

Why not look for a surgeon that does not require you to shave? Post op. apperance is by far my biggest concern
Scott,
Please don't choose your surgeon on the basis of this.
P.S. Buzzing down the top in order for the surgeon to work faster/more efficiently is better.

Scottish guy,
and going to work 10 weeks post op ? How did u achieved thisNice job...10 weeks off!
I don't know to break this to you....but you will be quite abnormal for the next few months, probably 6-8 months. There isn't much you can do.
This is the sacrifice you will have to do, in order to get back your hair.
Best advice is to cut down your hair (half inch)before the operation to make it less conspicous.

You're ok.

I would like to find out from members, what in their opinion is the most comprehensive hairloss supplement/nutrient (all inclusive supplement containing Biotin, etc.) that they have used.

Yes. It's possible. Other posters have reported this.

but they also say it can fade scars and possibly grow hair, what are everyone's thoughts?
I doubt this.

By increasing the penetrative ability of minox you will also increase the absorption into the blood stream.
Correct.
use the higher percentage formula of minox like 15%Correct. I use the 15% (particularly in the crown)

Yomommyz,
You seem to be frustating yourself too much. Go on minoxidil and finasteride and stay on it for the rest of your life. You will get sheds as you body deals with the drug. There is no such thing as waiting 6 months, 12 months etc. You're in this for life.

Firstly, we need to establish if your hairloss is from MPB.
If it is so then you have to begin medication, watching for negative side effects.
Hairloss due to psychological stress, or trauma/shock inflicted on your scalp from caustic hairstyling chemicals is another matter.
Retardation is slowing down or deccelaration.

I've got four more months and should reserve judgement
My understanding is that full cosmetic result can be as far as 15 months and not necessarily 12 months.
I don't know what Dr. Alexander told you about the growth period.
But I understand how you feel, and like you said, the game is not over yet. Keep hope!

but I take it in vitro appication would be equivalent to applying the compounds topically?
I should think so.

The effects of zinc sulphate and azelaic acid on 5?±-reductase activity in human skin were studied using an in vitro assay with 1,2[3H]-testosterone as substrate. When added at concentrations of 3 or 9 mmol/1, zinc was a potent inhibitor of 5?±-reductase activity. At high concentrations, zinc could completely inhibit the enzyme activity. Azelaic acid was also a potent inhibitor of 5?±-reductase; inhibition was detectable at concentrations as low as 0.2 mmol/l and was complete at 3 mmol/l. An additive effect of the two inhibitors was observed. Vitamin B6 potentiated the inhibitory effect of zinc, but not of azelaic acid, suggesting that two different mechanisms are involved. When the three substances were added together at very low concentrations which had been shown to be ineffective alone, 90% inhibition of 5?±-reductase activity was obtained. If this inhibition is confirmed in vivo, zinc sulphate combined with azelaic acid could be an effective agent in the treatment of androgen related pathology of human skin.

Unless you have had a transplant, in which case the pimples are due to hair growth. In itself minoxidil can irritate the scalp by drying it out. This is due to the alcohol in the product.
You can soothe the area with folligen or some other such product.
-
however saying that is 20 still seemingly slightly too early to start on a drug that you will perhaps be taking every day for a very long time (if not ever)?
No. Once to start to notice the effects of MPB, start on Finasteride. Start on minoxidil also. Make sure your hairloss is due to MPB.

A few of the transplanted hair will keep on growing, but generally, after 4 months you will begin to see growth. Full cosmetic effect @ 18 months.

From my limited understanding, these are the facts:
1. All scars stretch, but do fade, with time; there is a difference.
2. The propensity for stretching occurs just above the ears.
3. The propensity for stretching occurs depending on the region where the donor tissue is extracted. Scars below the occiptial bump stretch more (some one correct me if I am wrong)
4. Scars can stretch at any time, and stretching can occur up to a year after the surgery.
5. The underlying factor that increases the likelihood of a scar stretching is the tension in closing the donor excision.
6. Time is the only healer, and no type/amount of topical preparation can reduce the appearance of a scar. (BTW, there is a new treatment, that is in its experimental stages for reducing the appearance of a scar)

frank2097,
Is it ok to buy that and split them into 5?Yes.
When you get a hair transplant, if finasteride doesn't work for you and your original hair keeps falling out, do you have to continue forking out for more transplants as the other hair falls out?The native atrophic hair follicles will continue to miniaturize. It depends on your level of satisfaction. Some people are not satisfied with one surgery, but request more.
DON'T take Rogain yet!!Minoxidil and finasteride need to work synergistically for the optimal effect.
Get on minoxidil.
Since you are in the Asia region, you can try this service:
for finasteride.

Does sports and swimming make it worse?
No.
Propecia at 6 months, what should I expect?Shedding and Retardation of hairloss.

Does it look permanent or temporary to you?
You have to contact your doctor immediately. They can give you a better opinion. I don't think one can tell if a hair follicle is dead by just looking at the surface. The death of a hair follicle involves fibrosis (scarring) which is something that needs to be determined under a microscope, or 10X magnification.
Other posters will give you their recommendations.

London, United Kingdom, August 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A unique Titanium microneedle roller called the Scalprollertm was unveiled by the British biotech Nanogen at a recent conference in Amsterdam. Over 400 of the world's leading hair loss surgeons and trichologists visited the recent July ISHRS annual meeting where the Scalproller was first exhibited.
Nanogen's Scalproller has 4 clinical applications to enhance existing hair loss treatments. When using the Scalproller, penetration of Minoxidil - a prescription hair loss treatment, is increased by over 5 times on treated skin compared to untreated skin. Additionally, Scalproller therapy fades and removes donor scars from hair transplant surgery. Cutting edge hair loss treatment Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) also requires Scalproller treatment to activate the growth factors. Furthermore, the latest research on behalf of Intercytex by Dr Bessam Farjo, and pioneering studies by Dr George Cotsarelis provide evidence that Scalproller therapy may produce new hair growth independently of any other treatment.
Dr. Farjo, immediate past president of the ISHRS and also an attendee of the conference, was impressed with this innovation, "Nanogen's Scalproller device is interesting in that it uses concepts of recent leading-edge hair loss research. Certainly, as demonstrated by the recent Intercytex cell therapy trials and previous work on the animal model by Cotsarelis et al., there is good research data to show stimulation of hair growth in response to skin stimulation or injury. Studies have also shown that needle holes of 0.5mm depth or more penetrate the skin sufficiently to increase the diffusion of compounds of similar molecular weight and charge to Minoxidil."
The Scalproller is unique in that it is the only microneedle therapy roller specifically designed for hair loss treatment. According to Nanogen Medical Director Elliot Isaacs, "The previous technology for dermatological purposes was insufficient to meet the durability and accuracy requirements of a professional medical device. Harder titanium needles and precise European engineering techniques were necessary to produce a roller that will stay sharp for over 4 months, and perforate the skin to the exact depth every time."
The Scalproller, already the subject of several international patents pending, was enthusiastically received by the hair loss and surgical community. Both the home use versions and the longer 1 & 2mm clinical models are already in use in a range of professional practices, and several applications have been made to Nanogen to conduct new research utilising the Scalproller.
