  1. Agreed, Mrjb. The only ingredient in Avacor that has been proven to grow hair is Minoxidil, so why not just get good ol' Minoxidil (Rogaine)? The rest of the stuff in Avacor is just wishful thinking, in my opinion.
  2. It's possible that his MPB is genetically dispositioned (is that the right word?) to get to a certain point and then stop. My hair started receding very rapidly at 30, got to a certain point, and then stopped. It stayed that way for nearly 15 years until I got my HT's.
  3. Agreed, Mrjb. Also, if you're only filling in a receding hairline area and don't need to shave the recipient area (because there's no hair to shave!), then you should be able to be be back to work in as little as 4-5 days. I was able to use my existing hair to cover up the recipient receding hairline area. No one could tell, as far as I know.
  4. Looks to me as if you'll need more than 3300 grafts if you want a full look. I received 2500 for a receding hairline that wasn't nearly as far along as your MPB. It's good that you're getting other opinions!
  5. craighair, Welcome to the forum. There is a ton of excellent info out here, so be sure to also use the archives for answers to your questions! A) This is going to be different for everyone. Personally, I started receding at about 30 years old, so it took a while before my MPB started. It receded quickly but pretty much stopped after a few years. I also noticed some thinning starting to occur in the crown, but not enough to be noticeable to other people. I believe that you have to lose at least 50% of the hair in any area for it to be really noticeable (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). B) I've never used Rogaine. However, I've had two HT's and have been using Finasteride (Propecia/Proscar) for 2 1/2 years. It has definitely filled in my crown area, so I can say that it has worked for me.
  6. I would like to know the amounts of each substance that are included in this shampoo, especially the Ketoconazole. I thought that Ketoconazole was patented by the makers of Nizoral.
  7. nobuzz, Just so you know, my smart-A$$ comment was meant for Olivix, not you!
  8. Thanks for reminding everyone that this stuff is useless and that the people who sell it are liars. However, the people that frequent this forum are smart enough to know that. They know that finasteride and minoxidil are the only two proven FDA-approved agents that help with hair loss. But hey, we all appreciate the reminder!
  9. Good choice! In my opinion, Dr. Feller is one of the masters. I just keep hearing great things about him!
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the Proscar patent ran out in June 2006. That's about the time I started getting generic Proscar.
  11. Karthik, Welcome to the forum. As you stated in your original post, this site will be resourceful. Stick around and read the posts and you will learn more about HT's that you ever thought possible!
  12. What can I say? The guy needed a dose of his own medicine.
  13. I meant "peace of mind". DUH!!!!
  14. It's obvious that meds caused you problems, studentjay, after reading all your posts (cutting people down, causing problems, etc.). However, I'm sure the meds weren't the ones being discussed here. Whatever the meds were, they put tweety birds in your head.
  15. You're not sorry, you f*cking jerk. You're just here to cause problems. He said he was thinking about a HT in the future, you moose twit. Didn't you read his post? You're not very bright. I'm surprised you haven't accidently killed yourself yet.
  16. No one is pushing anyone around or insulting anyone. fit2btide stated in his original quote "Correct me if I'm wrong...". No one has come out and said that he is wrong. He has his own opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone is just trying to figure out why he feels this way and throwing ideas and information out there.
  17. In my opinion, if Gorpy has the donor hair, he should carefully think about this and try to get the coverage that will allow him serious piece of mind for the future. I'm a greedy bastard when it comes to my hairline and, luckily, I had the donor hair available to give me a really nice hairline (although it could have been even better if I went to a Coalition doctor). And I still have plenty left if I decide to have Dr. Feller touch it up in the near future. I know that many of you will probably disagree with the following: When I see hairlines like Patrick Dempsey, Brad Pitt, etc., I feel that if they can have hairlines like that and still look natural, then anyone who has the donor hair available and has been given the green light by a Coalition doctor should be able to do the same. Once again, this is all just my opinion.
  18. I've been on this site for over a year and have no clue as to why you believe this. I've seen practically nothing but good things being said about other Coalition doctors like Feller, Shapiro, etc. However, if this is the way you feel then you should go with what makes you feel comfortable. No bullying intended.
  19. Welcome! If you search the forum archives, you will find tons of people who share their experience with H&W! I'm just guessing, but I don't think that H&W would hold UK conferences. However, they can do consultations through email.
  20. pushing 40, Your receding hairline is very similar to what I had. I ended up with about 2600 grafts and, although I am pleased with what I currently have, I feel that another 1000 or so would have really been the cats a$$! So, I agree with Jotronic on the '3500 to 4000 grafts densely packed' advice. I also wear my hair very long, so I know where you're coming from!
  21. Moris, Grow your hair out to about 1/2 inch to an inch and you will hide the scar until you can figure out your next move.
  22. Who knows. Only you and Dr. Feller can figure out why you don't believe that you see a difference. I've read and seen nothing but good reviews and results from Dr. Feller. Voice your concerns to him and I'm sure that you two can come to a fair agreement on a future strategy.
  23. B spot, I also wish you luck! But as so many have said in the past, you won't need it with a great surgeon like Shapiro!
