  1. So does that mean that drugs that increase DHT will enlarge your penis?
  2. Goddamn thats one thick mop you have there Big1. I can see why your happy - the results are completely natural.
  3. Hi Ryan, Your doing the right thing and have done your research. I know how hard this decision is for you but I believe that you can take comfort that you have narrowed it down to 2 excellent doctors. Im sure you will get an excellent result no matter which one you decide to go with. I just want to reiterate that this is a long journey and you should be happy with your results 4-6 months post op. I believe the waiting is the hardest thing but IMHO the results are definately worth the wait. Good luck and Hope it goes well!
  4. hi rjvw, The doctors you have mentioned produce mediocre HT's at best. You should not even think about getting your head cut open unless you are completely confident in the results they can produce. This means evaluating many of their patient results in photos and in person. The very fact that you are unsure means you havent done enough research. Do yourself a favour and spend the time and research to find the best doctor for you as the results (good or bad) will be with you for a lifetime.
  5. Hell at 34 with your hairloss I think you are in a pretty good position to have the hairline you want without depleting your donor. I personally would not bring the hairline down any further and just make the receeded hairline less receeded into a mature hairline. It is a good feeling at about 3-4 months post op when you start to see your more youthfull hairline returning. Of course if you havent been on the meds before I would give them a while to see what they could do for you before going down the HT route.
  6. Lon, I dont agree at all. Your (doctor and patients) objectives should be to provide a natural appearance. Dense packing a 21-22 yo to restore a teenage hairline without knowing the full extent of his hairloss is negligent. Young men suffering hairloss are the most vunerable patients who would do anything to try and restore their teenage appearance. After they have depleted their donor there is a chance that some of them might look like Bobman after his first HT: http://www.hairlossweblogs.com/photos/DSCN0134Large.jpg http://www.hairlossweblogs.com/photos/DSCN0135Large.jpg This does not look natural and I think everyone would agree is not the best long term interests of the patient. Luckily Bobman's hairline was not placed low and he had enough grafts for full coverage. I can't think of anyone who looks natural with a densly packed teenage hairline and a bald crown. I would think that would be a recipe for a life condemned under hair pieces or hats.
  7. I've been reading Dr Rassman's blog at http://www.baldingblog.com and he lists many potential causes of hair loss: Ephedra http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/09/26/ephedra-and-hair-loss/ Amphetimines http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/09/19/amphetamines-and-hair-loss/ Coumadin (Warfarin) http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/09/26/losing-hair-from-coumadin/ Prosac or Zoloft http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/09/15/prozac-causing-cl...all-out-within-days/ Steroids http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/08/25/steroid-use-with-...kes-hair-loss-worse/ If anyone knows of any other drugs that can cause hair loss can you add it to this thread with a link to an article.

  9. Hey C.L. Yeah many people on here use Toppik or Dermatch to give their hair a more fuller look. Robert one of the active posters on this forum has provided detailed use and results of using concealers. This is his experience using Toppik: http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=569...=936105313#936105313 and using Dermatch http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=142583 I don't use concealers anymore but I preferred Dermatch as I thought it was less messy and was more water proof as it only comes off with shampoo. Yeah its true that Propecia and Minoxidil (Rogaine) are most effective in the crown area though I still believe your hair (and hairline) is going to be in better condition in future with the meds. Basically a lot of people do have HT's under 30 (like myself at 27). The problem with having a HT so young is that you are pretty much guaranteed to sign up for HT's in the future. You also want to be very conservative as you wont have enough donor available to maintain a teenage hairline. Hope this helps!
  10. Hey C.L, Welcome to the forums. Yeah a HT does work but you are at least 2 years too young to consider having one. I also had a slightly receeded hairline at 23 unfortunately it does get worse so I would recommend getting on Propecia and try to stave off as much as possible. You may be interested in trying out some concealers like Toppik or Dermatch to give you the appearance of a full head of hair. Otherwise welcome, enjoy your stay and feel free to ask any questions.
  11. Congrats on the good experience with Dr Charles. I hope you keep a detailed web blog to document your progress.
  12. No, he isnt one of the top doctors - no one from MHR is. Put 'Levitt' in the find section to find experiences of Dr Levitt on this forum. Pat, if your reading this i think we should be make the search box visible on the forum as I dont think its getting utilized as much as it should be.
  13. Hi Alexander, We'll if you know of any excellent doctors and have URL's to their results I'm sure we would all be interested in them, regardless if they are in the coalition or not. I believe this is an open forum interested in great results from ethical doctors. If you know any that fit the bill post them along.
  14. Goddamn my friend you are truly blessed! density as high as 150cm2 with over 2/3 multi FU's thats over 13500+ hairs! I heard that we have around 4cm wide of donor hair available. Even if you have only 1.5cm on average left that is still another 5820 grafts or 10125 hairs left in the bank. That is one rich donor supply!
  15. Hey Londonlad, Great to see you on this forum. The only other (H&W) patient that I know that had 7k+ in one sitting had great results: http://www.hassonandwong.com/patient_gallery/photo_view...ansplant_type=normal And since you are not working with a clean slate (i.e. bald) you could be looking to get an even better transformation then Bobman or Jotronic! I hope you're on Propecia to keep as much of your native hair as possible. Reading through the posts on the other forum I read that your strip was 30 x 2cm yielding 7761 grafts which works out to be over 129cm2? If that's true that is some freakish density! Did Dr Hasson give you the breakdown on 1's, 2's or 3's? or what the total no of hairs transplanted were? We'll I hope you keep your results posted.
  16. Hi michaellovesnyc, Looking good, your HT has definately given you a great cosmetic result!
  17. Hi dhuge, You have been a very active poster here and because of this I think your story is one of the most well known here! Personally I think we have seen you mature over the past year. I think it is fair to say that you were young and brash pre HT and discarded some good advice. Although your attitude seems typical for a young hairloss sufferer who wants nothing more to rush into a chair and restore their original appearance. Your detailed experience should help other young pateints to take their time and do their research before rushing into a HT. Truthfully your results were not bad and you should be finally satisfied with a 2-3k session from Dr Feller. You will still have a few k left in the bank so if you stay on Finasteride your hair future looks bright! Good luck!
  18. Since it seems like everyone else has posted - I thought I might chime in with my 2c as well :-). Everything below is only my opinion based on my personal research - I do not pretend to know as much Dr Hasson. I also have reservations of these mega-mega sessions of this size and personally I dont think that it was appropriate for this patient, heres why: My main concern is this guy is young and with all due respect to Dr Hasson knowledge and expertise he cannot predict the future with absolute certainty. He does provide statistics of people becoming NW7 at somewhere between 1/9 - 1/10. I would think that having his level of baldness so young surely has to increase his odds of becoming a NW7. There is *NO* scientific evidence on the yield of smaller vs mega sessions *either way*. After 1000's of HT's we can pretty much predict the results of 3-4k sessions. Using basic logic we can at least deduct some risks of mega sessions, i.e. a bigger strip has the potential of a bigger scar. The opinions of H&W on the results of these mega-mega sessions are *NOT* shared amongst all the other very knowledgeable and expert docs in the coalition. This is not just our opinion vs H&W, it is also coalition doc vs coalition doc. Personally I dont think 3-4 HT's is necessary for a patient who has *ideal* hair characteristics. Though I believe 2 mega sessions of 4k would've been ideal since he has ideal hair characteristics he could be pretty much guaranteed a great result based on emperical evidence of the 1000's of HT's performed in the past - so why take the risk? The best patient transformations at H&W like Bobman and Jotronic both had multiple HT's which I believe strenthens the argument for multiple HT's. Consequently, I dont think whether or not this was the most optimal strategy for this patient is the issue here. The only issue here I believe is whether or not this patient was educated on the potential risks of a session of this size - which I no doubt believe he was. Then it is up to the patient what his approach would be. Peronally I am very conservitive by nature so I would have definately have gone with at least 2 sessions - but thats just me! Without knowing the end result of his scar, I believe in the short term this guy would be happier with 7.7k grafts over 4k as he will end up with a better cosmetic result after 1 year. Its the long term results that remains uncertain. I would still like to know all the stats about this patients HT, i.e. donor density, laxity, hair count, breakdown of 1's, 2's, 3's etc.
  19. If you're in the UK then I suggest: http://minoxidil-direct.co.uk/ It is the cheapest I found in the UK currently 53.99 GBP for a 12 month supply.
  20. Rachmunas4life, If you want to buy in the UK then I suggest that you go to Spex's doctor as he is very knowledgeable about hair loss and is able to supply Proscar over the phone: http://www.hairhelp.myzen.co.uk/?q=node/7
  21. Yep a little over 3 months myself, and I see a mixture of week wispy blonde hairs and some thin dark hairs (my natural colour). It is not particularly dense though and I can still see original hairline clearly. Though it definately has a cosmetic impact as I now have a weak hairline in pictures where before I was receeded.
  22. I agree, The reason why we suggest shaving your head is to see if it can be an acceptable look for you. A shaved head is much easier, more natural and cheaper to maintain. After you have a HT this option will no longer available. When I shaved my head with a razor I was also a potential candidate for the freakish looking shaved head club. May I suggest that you don't use a razor but rather buzz your hair short instead. I found that my hair grew back really thin when I used a razor.
  23. Thank you Dr Feller, your expert advice is always appreciated on this forum!
