  1. B Spot, after spending a long time reading through this forum, that is definately something I did not know. So are you saying when the new hair grows in that it does not have the same characteristics as your existing hair? Im thinking it can't be too noticeable as hair transplants by nature are meant to be undetectable.
  2. I'm not really a great believer in Laser Therapy to promote hair growth. But I recently discovered that the Shapiro Medical Group is starting to suggest and recommend them, citing that there is some evidence to indicate that it may work similar to Propecia. I would just like to know what peoples thoughts here are on it, and if anyone here has had any results?

  4. Hi Browny217 I think anyone who has experienced hair loss at a young age will know exactly what your going through. It does sound like you have good friends though, my friends cant help giving me shit infront of other people about my balding and receding hairline, so count yourself lucky. I know its hard to wait before doing something about it, but you should definately start on a hair care regime of Proscar/Propecia and Minodoxil/Rogaine for at least 6 months - if just to strengthen what you already have to avoid shock loss and to halt future hair loss. At 23 you are still too young to get a HT the longer you do wait the better off you will be. At this poing in time I would recommend a positive outlook in life and some dermapatch. If you still must go through with it, I would consult with as many ethical surgeons as you can to assess your donor density and what is possible for the future.
  5. Hi RoboNick, Its good to see you've opened your stance. I did think it was a little hopeful to suggest that anyone who had a HT will have the option of shaving their head in the future. I didnt want to voice my opinion then cause you were having a heated argument. But this is only going off all the pictures I have seen. I have seen undetectable at #1 and undetectable with hair - but never undetectable with a completely shaved head. So I think it was a little hopeful to say to potential patients that they will still be able to shave their head without a HT. Again nothing against your views but I just dont want people thinking shaving their head is still an option after a HT.
  6. B spot I have to say that I am amazed at the amount of grafts you managed to get. If its ok can you let us know some statistics about your HT like how old you were when you got your first one and how much density you have in your donor area. With the amount of time you spend posting on this site maybe creating a webblog to document your progress should be in order After reading a lot of your posts I think you are one of the most resourceful people on this forum. Your informative comments and positive outlook has helped many of us here. Its good to see you are getting great results - I dont think it could've happen to a nicer person.
  7. Dino29, I am not an active poster but I feel like I have to warn others whenever you make a post continually promoting these very questionable websites. There is no doubt in my mind that you have a hidden agenda. I have carefully reviewed the website you continually promote and apart from them not providing any before and after photos of their work, a clear warning sign to stay away - most of their content (if not all) is plagerized without reference. Its easy to see just go to any informative article and 'copy and paste' a sentence of text into Google and you will see the original sources of the article. Now to answer your question, the reason why people are prepared to pay $8 per FUE is to get the highest quality Hair Transplant available that will greatly enhance their lifestyle. There are many horror stories where getting a bad Hair Transplant is the worst decision people have made costing them more in repair costs and confining them to a life of depression continually trying to hide their bad transplant and wishing they could turn back time. Now unfortunately your posts like yours are diluting what is otherwise a very informative site that is a godsend to vulnerable people considering a trnasplant. I just pray that no vulnerable people actually fall for your marketed posts and literally get scarred for life. Unless you have had a Hair Transplant or are willing to provide quality examples of the work performed by the sites you are recommending you have no business recommending them and you should be banned from having a voice in this website. Just to re-iterate for anyone looking for a Hair Transplant the key is to Research, Research and more Research. Do not consider a transplant unless you are comfortable with the consequences. A transplant is a life changing decision that you will be stuck with for the rest of your life, it can greatly enhance or ruin your quality of life. The best way to get the best result is to consult with the highest quality and ethical surgeons.
  8. Hi Hairbank, Thanks for the link it is quite informative. Unfortunately Im in the unlucky position where Propecia does not look like halting my hairloss so another option like Avodart does look attractive. I guess I will wait till my HT with Ron Shapiro to see what he thinks.
  9. I am a 27 year old male thinning on top and I would classify myself as a NW3. I started losing hair in my early 20's and the first treatment I started was on Rogaine. At that time I only had a receeding hairline and I only used Rogaine for the hair line. Unfortunately I have just found out that Rogaine is not really effective for the hairline. After about 1 year of treatment and not noticing any improvement I started on Propecia at about 25. I experienced the most hairloss while using propecia (I dont think it is the cause and I hate to think how thin I would be without it). I know that most of my hairloss can be attributed to MPB cause my dad is approaching 60 and is a NW5/NW6. But my older brother who will be 29 this year does not show any signs of thinning. I'd say that my accelerated hairloss may be attributed to stress (I feel I have been an overworked programmer spending nearly 12 hours a day on a computers)/ poor diet (my hair loss started in my early teens after I moved out of home - I havent been eating my greens ) / and after reading some links in this forum possibly earlier creatine use in my teens. So to re-iterate the last couple of years I have experienced the most shedding and this was while I have been taking propecia. So I was wondering what are peoples thoughts on Avodart? If anyone here has had good results with Avodart compared with Propecia, etc. BTW I am thankful for finding this forum as I would have had my HT in the UK but after seeing the difference that a top surgeon can make and that you have only 1 head and the many horror stories people have had with HT's - I've decided to bear no expense and have an appointment for next month with Ron Shapiro. Also because of this site I am currently starting a 'regime' of Propecia/minodoxil 5%/MSM/Vitamin B-complex and Biotin and Nioxin and 1% Nizoral - hoping for some results in a couple of months.
