Time to do something, I *really* feel for you and hope all turns out well...I haven't read this *entire* thread, but there are a couple of points I would like to comment on... Your Results Thus Far: I have *not* seen where precisely the grafts where placed, but regardless at the 9 month mark for that # of grafts, I too would expect a better result. What is a Mega Session: KevKristy--- "There are a few in here who say that even full growth at 2500 will not make a difference. I mean how carried away are we getting? 2500 was a mega session not too long ago, and people were raving on this site. Now it's nothing? Go to Epsteins website. Most of his patients are in the 2-3K range." Just by virtue of the fact that it was not too long ago that 2,500 grafts was considered a "mega-sesion" this does not change the fact that this is, by some docs standards today, considered a far cry from a mega-session... Some docs have pushed the envelope and have thereby radically changed what we can expect from ht's and even a single session, *donor and laxity permitting*... How can 2,500 be considered a mega session when H&W are *routinely* cranking out 4 and 5K grafts? Let alone those cases of 6, 7K+? Why should our expectations be stuck in the past, irrespective of how short ago that past was? Further, 2,500 is a relative number; relative to the NW level. 2,500 grafts moved on a NW3 w/limited hair loss restricted to his hair line will make for a *huge* cosmetic transformation. But, 2,500 (even in the best growth scenario) will *not* make that huge of a transformation on a NW5... I really don't understand peoples tendency to be stuck in the past w/respect to what is and is not considered a mega-session. We should be welcoming w/open arms those docs who can push 4 and 5K grafts out routinely and be thankful. There are so many reasons to go for the max# of grafts possible in the *first* session and little to none, not to. Also, it is interesting to note this is the second complaint we've seen against Dr. E in just a couple of months. The Feller patient who recently had (I believe) 7K+ grafts moved in two sessions, went to Dr. E originally and was turned down for even one transplant; further he felt as though he was treated in a less than favorable manner. I know of a few well respected members who are quite happy w/Dr. E's results (want hairs comes to mind) but nonetheless, this only exemplifies the vast discrepancy among even those in the "coalition"... Final Note--- if you have extensive baldness (i.e. NW5+, even 4+) do you *really* want to settle for what *used* to be considered a mega-session? Part of the biggest expense of a ht, is undergoing the down time. Why go for anything less than the best of possible results?

shock loss in the recipient area would be apple 4 apple, yen 4 yen, Alba 4 Alba the same...the donor area, I *think* one would not experience any shock loss, but Im not sure...hmmmm interesting. vewy, vewy intewesting...

To the best of my knowledge PRIOR to strip excision they just "eye-ball" it, of course aided by *much* experience; then once the strip is removed they can tell you what your donor density was in terms of grafts per square cm. Im left w/the impression---from H&W at least---that they typically slightly "under-estimate" what they think they are going to be able to get from you, so there is no dissapointment when all is said and done...But, I think their fairly accurate as to the read of your donor.

I feel for you, truly! That sucks. But, this is why I don't understand why men who have extensive balding do *not* go for mega sessions? I would have gone for the max session possible. Have you considered going to H&W and seeing what the absolute max they can crank out on you is? I really don't understand why NW5+'s are getting anything shy of 5K in one session (laxity & donor permitting) rather than going for 2-3 smaller sessions (?)...

I seriously think your going to end up w/the most enviable mop on the forum! Your hair loss was so *minimal* prior to surgery, yet it was such that it couldn't afford you a good style, so I think this transformation is going to be HUGE; especially w/such a low hair line, and that many grafts in such a small area CONGRATS! This is the first I noticed you had old work done in the past. do you have any pics of that? where were those grafts placed, all up in that frontal forelock?

Man, the title reads as some huge hair product throwdown! Then the stats of the battle field of your mop..."about 20 -25 hairs falling down per down"...sounds like the casualties we hear from the Iraq war! The hair loss is just genetic... If you can, save up for a ht... I wouldn't view the potential meds as a dichotomy, but by using some in combination (i.e. fin & minox) one can experience a synergistic effect.

wA-Wa-WeE-wA!!! That is some *insane* growth!!! I can see both sides of the argument, but *personally* I would move forward w/the hair augmentation. The hair one gains via the meds is temporary at best, where as after the augmentation one can rest assured the hair will remain and will alleviate all concerns of loss in that area in the future. A completely different proposition if you ask me... Additionally, this will be your first go at the augmentation and as a result you've got your best shot at getting the max # of grafts. Do you *really* want to play it ultra conservative, only to have to go in the chair for another augmentation again in the near future? Why not have this area one and done -AND- enjoy that native hair to compliment the augmented hair (giving you EXTRA density) while it lasts? just my two pesos... It would be great to hear Jotronic chime in on this one seeing how it is one of their potential patients.....

Mike---- why don't you post more pics, as you even stated that pic doesn't show the hair loss in your hair line? I have spoken w/Jotronic regarding permanent shock loss as a result of transplanting within native hair, and they feel it is pretty much a non-issue. This is why they shave down your recipient area. I have *never* seen anyone ending up w/less hair after their ht. All of the hair your moving is going to be PERMANENT and you will definitely have more hair and look better. I think your a prime candidate and are going to have excellent results. *real* density, no illusions... BTW---how do you *know* the propecia has halted your loss?

Im not attempting to fan any flames here, but in the interest of GENDER *EQUALITY* w/in our society--- isn't it interesting that breast-*IMPLANTS,* due to their current popularity are referred to so often---in a rather PC manner---w/the novelty of "breast-AUGMENTATION" ... where as hair-TRANSPLANTS, are still referred to w/the notorious "PLUGS" phenomena...even still, why should those of us suffering from a disease settle for "hair-TRANSPLANT"... -why can't *we* say- "yes, I had a hair-AUGMENTATION"...(?) WOW! I haven't seen too many (if any) other diffuse thinners who want to go for this size of a session w/that much native hair. Im in a similar position as you and would like to go to Hasson for around the same amount, but have been reluctant because of transplanting w/in so much native hair... i think 4k would leave you w/a mondo million dollar mop! I really hope you post your progress as I would love to see it. I just wish there were more diffuse thinners doing this... great surgeon choice by the way. do you have any other pics? Maybe some that show your *loss* more clearly? Also, what is your age and have you been on meds for any significant amount of time?
