  1. Folks, I have been off the site for a while. I am looking for your opinions and experiences with concealers. Toppik has been my reliable go to for years, but the price of the stuff is getting to be too much since I was laid off. I need to find a good replacement. I ordered a $12 bag of "fibers" and pretty much got just what I paid for! Any thoughts? Thanks!
  2. Friends, I am Looking for a less expensive alternative to Toppik. I was laid off, and need to look good but spend less. Any thoughts? Ringo

  8. Hello everyone! What's going on with Toppik? Is it being priced by OPEC now?? Does anyone have a cheap source? Last time I paid $48, now they want $70!

  9. Abby, I was really nervous about it too. The thought of being shaved and healing; sleeping sitting up, even with drugs. I just thought about how time flies by so quickly, and how six months from now I could still look as I did, or I could have a pretty good start on a new head of hair. Either way, the time will pass. You'll get through it as you did before: one day at a time. Use the forum for support, and lighten up. I am now 1 month post op, and HT #one is growing back quickly. In about another month, I should be able to start covering with Toppik and ditch the hat, then in a few more months, hopefully less and less Toppik. I feel optimistic now, but I just needed to push forward. Let us know how it goes! P.S. I just looked at your weblog. Where are they gonna wedge in any more hair?? Best, Ringo
  10. According to Babel Fish Translator: Head skin warm cold bath! The egesta clear. The paragraph next to the pic of the handful of dirt says: Raising the hair has been similar to the fact that you raise the farm products.???Although the farm products whose quality is high are made make the earth whose important thing is best. In order to attach the many tasty fruits, it is important to remove the impurity in the earth, the root the Hari easy way to plow the earth softly, and to lift the moderate fertilizer and to give nutrition. So, the earth namely is the head skin.???The blood style soft improving also the head skin, if nutrition makes easy to spread, it is something where the good hair naturally grows. And next to the smiling man sitting inside the hot tub hat: The growth hair hot spring cap in the head skin does with the kind elastic material, does not pass either the water. Many merits of growth hair hot spring cap! And the merits of the cap? ?‘ The far infrared rays and 0 ion effectively it emits & generates to the head due to the natural ceramics. ?‘? The hot water or running cost other than the water does not catch altogether. ?‘? In the bathtub temporary, everyday, the growth hair is produced easily. ?‘? When the head skin is warmed, the pore is made to open simultaneously. ?‘¤ Becoming old some time by using, it peels off and in the skin and the pore which fall like the concrete it flatters hard and stubbornly the [ri] it melts the fat soiling which is attached and it removes naturally without the excessiveness. ?‘? The flow of the blood of the head skin which is carrying the nutrition which becomes the material of the hair to the hairy root part is made naturally active without the excessiveness. ?‘¦ The head skin and those residues which remain in the pore are removed cleanly by the shampoo treatment medicine and the like doing and to pass after the washing use. ?‘§ Stimulus is given to the head skin with the warm cold bath effect and with the hot water and pouring the water alternately, the blood circulation is promoted. ?‘? The pore is tightened by pouring the water.???In addition, when hot day of midsummer and the like and the body feels hot, when the water, being cold, it becomes cancellation or relief of the stress which comes from heat cold by pouring the hot water. Again, "it melts the fat soiling which is attached and it removes naturally without the excessiveness." Any Questions? Best, Ringo
  11. I am 4 weeks post op, and I experienced a small amount 1/4" of shock loss along about 3 inches of my donor scar on the right side. How long can I expect for it to start to grow in? Has anyone else experienced this> If only my ears were bigger...

  13. Great thread, guys! I have had many reactions from the talking behind my back, to people asking my kids what I did, to old friends I see for the first time in ten or fifteen years saying I haven't changed a bit. If they had seen me 3 years ago, they would NOT have said that. Girls are smiling at me again. That feels great. And this with a pretty thin MHR HT and an artful application of half a can of Toppik. I am now almost three weeks post HT 2 with Dr Feller and back in the perma-hat stage, but I am very excited about what's happening under that hat. Best, Ringo
  14. I had a teenager who's known me for a couple of years from the neighborhood ask my 12 year old, "What's up with your Dad's hair?" My kid said "Nothing!" I told him to send all inquiries to me. I will talk openly to anyone with the balls to ask politely. The fact is it's a big change, a fascinating process, and with all our knowledge (thank you Bill & Co) we forget that this is a complete mystery to the follicularly gifted. It's a mystery to most bald guys as well! If I has a Barnes and Noble gift card for every time someone said to me "Does it grow?" I could finally buy the latest season of South Park on DVD. One tactful neighbor said after staring with a sort of baffled look on his face, "I 'm not used to the 'Italian look'." I am not sure what he meant, but he did not explain. I'm willing to assume he meant a young DeNiro, and not Rudy Giuliani. Tell them its a miracle, because in a way, it is. Best, Ringo
  15. Thanks guys! I put up some new pictures. Ringo
  16. Dr Feller's instructions had me gently washing with my fingertips the third night. MHR suggested the 6th night after HT, and I was skeptical about just 3, but confirmed with the office. They said no nails on the scalp, and just use common sense. I have NO scabs at one week, just shedding white skin flakes, and my scalp feels pretty darn good considering what it's just been through . I have posted new pix if you'd like to check it out. Best Growing, Ringo
  17. OK OK, I'll leave MHR alone. For now! . Yesterday I got 2300 by Dr Feller and his excellent staff and man am I happy! My head hurts, but I had a good time, I now have a dense packed head, (with hair) and it took about 2.5 hours less than MHR did to do what they said was 1700, but Dr Feller estimated at closer to 900. I can say I was pissed about that, but I am past complaining right now. I will post more photos within the next few days while I am laying low. Thank you to all for your support and encouragement! <STRIKE>Wade Boggs</STRIKE> (Ringo)
  18. I got excuses and that's all. I did not expect much. I am really looking forward to March 4 with Dr Feller! Get this head fixed for good! I will post new pix with progress.
  19. Gentlemen, I just had a meeting with Dr Feller last week in preparation for my 2nd HT, and I asked the question about the saline spray and graftcyte. he also claimed that it was an unnecessary expense, and added nothing to the healing process, since the grafts are safely under the skin. Best, Ringo
  20. I can tell by the overwhelming response that MhR has NEVER given a refund! I just went back and read posts in support of my HT # 2 in a couple of weeks with Dr Feller. I am nervous, But your support really helps! Best, Ringo
  21. I recently had a woman call me representing MHR. I explained to her that I was not happy with the HT I got there and she said that maybe they could arrange free grafts to fix the prob. I explained tat I did not want to risk more of the same, and she suggested that a refund might be arranged. I was quite surprised. She said that she would have a manager call me. NO call, 2 weeks. I called back and tried to get more clarification about a refund. I now have an appt here in NYC at MHR to see whether they think the bumps they left on my head are worth a refund. Has anyone on this forum ever gotten a refund from MHR for bad work? I am scheduled to see Dr Feller on March 4 for 2000 grafts to finish what MHR started. I am really nervous about getting my head shaved as my job is going face to face with people.

  23. Fender, You and I started from a similar spot. Looks like you are off to a great start! Transection. Is that damage to existing grafts?
  24. Today I visited Dr Feller in Great Neck, NY. I can only say, "Wow!". His staff was friendly and relaxed, with a sort of family-like atmosphere. The office is pretty simple: no shots of all the ex football players who are endorsing him, in fact, no glamor or self-aggrandizing at all. A relief after MHR on Central Park South. He came in and took a look at my head and at my profile sheet. He is familiar with Dr Mollura, who performed my first procedure. He was very confident about repairing my hairline and bringing my density up to where I want it to be. He was very encouraging and passionate about his work. He ushered me into the room where today's patient was having his HT so that I could have a quick look at the work and the gals doing it. I was very impressed with how densely he packs the new hairs. BAck in the office, he showed me examples of the instruments he uses to make the incisions, and I was surprised to see that the blade is about 1/4 the size of the ones used at MHR, which means smaller incisions, and quicker healing time, less swelling and more density. Dr. Feller then took me into his office and showed me photos of work he had done on guys with similar situations to mine. Again, I was pretty amazed. This man knows his stuff. He has a sense of humor, and does not hand you a line of crap. Again, what a difference. My only disappointment is that I could not get an appointment until mid February, because I am eager to see what he can do for me. I also hoped that I would not have to shave my head, but what the hell. If it makes it easier for the Dr to do a great job, I am willing to do it. Price-wise he is up front and fair, coming in lower than MHR, and they were giving me a "special" price. I have to thank Bill and this community for giving me a place to research this procedure. If you were not here, think about how many more men and women would be victimized by the hair mills! And maybe how many times I would have continued to be... Thanks also to Dr Feller for his generous posts here. I feel more confident already.
