  1. Guys, I am trying to upload new photos to my journal, and it keeps failing. The pix aren't THAT bad! . Is it the site, or is it me? Attached is front, eight months. Thanks! Ringo

  3. I have not heard of Advodart. Is it new? Prescription? Who did the job?
  4. I love these guys! Oblivion, I had a 'questionable' experience with MHR. I am FAR older than you. I became very obsessed with my hairline in my teens. At 44 I got fed up with my five-head as I called it. (As opposed to a forehead...) I was getting to the horseshoe around the back of the head stage, and I started with Propecia. I went to a consultation with MHR and the doc there said I would need 1700 grafts. Period. I jumped right in. I got the surgery in Feb. In May or so the guy said i'd need at least 1700 more to finish the job. I was, needless to say, pissed off. He also told me, to his credit, that i should wait 12- 18 months for the transplant to completely grow in. I found this forum just after the surgery, if I recall correctly. I have consulted with Dr True in NYC via online, and he won't even see me until it's been at least a year because he won't be able to determine what I need until then. I will visit him next spring. The progress is slow, the propecia is helping, my wife very generously tells me it's looking good (I know she says it because she loves me), but THIS FORUM has just about been the best help of all, I kid you not. The best move you can make? Here it is. The rest will be a lot easier because of your visits here. Ringo
  5. Hey Folks, My GP said he did not want to put me on Proscar since it is a prostate medicine, and he did not want to have to put in my permanent medical records that I have prostate trouble. I purchased Finpecia and am looking into it a bit deeper. Have not yet begun to take it, but what a savings! We all know the power of big Pharmaceuticals in this country, so I know they are overcharging. Ringo
  6. P40, Say 10 'Hail Marys', and 3 'Our Fathers', go forth and fugeddaboudit. You are totally off the hook with me. I completely get the passion you men approach this topic with, and your sentiments in your first posting are very clear. I appreciate the no Bullshit policy as well. Thanks again for letting me participate, and thanks for ALL of everyone's support. Now. Enough about me. Ringo
  7. Gentlemen, Thanks for the support and for the apology. I chose to pull my photos because I do not want to be the MHR poster boy. I have my own regrets about the impulsive nature of my decision and hopes that as promised, it will continue to grow in and thicken over the next 6 to 10 months at which point I can make a choice about what to do next. I can tell that the propecia is working as I am shedding very little hair, so that is a plus. My experience with Dr Mollura and with MHR has been a very positive and professional one, and he was recommended to me by someone whose 'forehead reduction' was done prior to the Doctor's affiliating himself with MHR. At this point I am adopting a 'wait and see' policy, which is easier for me now, since the HT is the best patience training you can get for the money. I will continue to visit the Forum to post and learn. If I need further work, which I probably will, I will certainly research the coalition doctors in the NYC area. Thanks for the apology, P40. We are more than our follicles. As I told my doctor, if I could find someone to give me a self confidence transplant, I would'nt need the hair transplant. Regarding putting my pics back up, I'll get there, but I do request that you remove the 'looks like' reference. Thanks again for your insight and your helpful forum. Ringo
  8. Pushing 40, That IS a picture of my ass. I decided to try it out there first... You could use a bit of sensitivity training. I don't mind you critiquing my HT, but, knowing that this is a sensitive area for all of us, I would ask you to choose your words more carefully. Ringo
  9. This reminds me of the movie BORAT. It is possible that Dave Schatz is enjoying the attention too much to provide any credentials or answers specific enough to really get help. Dave Shatz, The men on this forum are well educated about hair restoration, and very generous souls. They can help you ONLY if you give them the information they ask for. If you do not give the information about your transplant and refuse to send pictures, it is hard to take you seriously. --Ringo
  10. Hey Luminal, Sounds like you are describing MY scalp! I am at 2 and a half months, and I have numbness in the center of the transplant area as well as itching and some bumps. I am also seeing my first new hairs! Most frustrating is wanting to scratch, of when my scalp feels irritable and I can't do anything about it but tough it out. My doctor and the good folks here advise hanging in there. When in doubt, do call the doc. You paid for it... Best of luck! Ringo
  11. Your pix look GREAT. The second HT makes it look as if you never lost it. I will sit tight and hope for the best. My Dr seemed quite confident about it, so... Thanks.
  12. Thanks, Hairbank, My wife took the photos, and I am afraid the donor scar one is not so hot. I had 1744 grafts, and the recipient area is delineated by the blue line.
  13. I had my HT done by a doctor who attended the coalition meeting in Florida (See Pat's post from Jan 25, 06) I read about here on this site, though he was not a member. Since he just joined MHR, I am worried due to the bad rep that particular company has here. My experience during the proceedure was excellent, but I confess I did feel 'sold'. This is my head, 1 month post-op. As I said in a previous post, my recipient site is totally numb, and way redder than I'd like, and my donor scar is bumpy and itches, though most of the pain is gone and it is undetectable with 3/4" of hair. It is so great to have a place to TALK about this process! Thanks all who read this.

  15. Thanks for your answers! I think this is a great resource. Wish I had found it before the HT, although I did a lot of research and feel I found a good Dr. The waiting is a killer, as you know. Best, Ringo
  16. Hey guys, Thanks for all your posts. They are all helpful and I want to join in. I had my HT on Feb 1, and still am completely numb in the graft area. I have slight redness which looks awful to me. How long does the numbness last? I am 44, in decent shape, drink minimally and eat well. When are my relocated follicles permanent and undamageable? I am acting in a play at the end of March and am considering wearing a partial hairpiece held on with spirit gum. Any chance of this doing damage? Thanks!
