  1. Pat and others, I am convinced strongly that continued hair growth/thickening of the transplanted hairs actually happened for me almost at the two-year mark! It was that obvious.
  2. jd09, Like Janna said, research as much as you can and don't stop! There's a lot to know about transplantation, what you can take to possibly slow your hair loss down, and if you're ready to get a transplant down the road, you'll have all the facts to make the best decisions. Proceed slowly.
  3. help me, I have always had a higher hairline like yours and back in the day a couple people had said that I was going bald, but it never quite happened that way, really. The corners receded back a bit , but I always kept the fullness and was able to cover the corners up easily. All the worry wasn't worth it!
  4. urao, Is there any reason you wouldn't want to travel to any one of the superb doctors somewhere else in the world?? They usually pay part of your airfare plus hotel! It can make more than a big difference in the long run. It was actually cheaper for me to leave the country!
  5. Anyone, Has anyone heard of something that can help reduce the redness on top after an HT?
  6. Rick in MD, You've definitely come to the right place! First of all, there's a lot to know about hair transplantation that I wish someone would have informed me about. So get educated!! I can say for certain you'll thank yourself in the end. 1) Ultra Refined Folicular Unit Transplantation is what the best doctors are doing these days but read more about it and other techniques to get the best final result. 2) Try not to limit yourself to a certain area but pick the best doctor for your needs and that clinic should reimburse you for part of your travel expenses. It's worth it! Good luck.
  7. SETT, I've heard some real good things about about Dr. Feller. I know that he is using stainless steel staples to close the donor area instead of sutures which is suppose to be an advantage. I just went through an HT 3 weeks ago today, and I can tell you I worried for nothing! It will be over before you know it, and you'll want another. The only thing that I had a concern with was how and when to start removing the scabs in the newly transplanted area. They should tell you at the clinic but ask at the time they remove your staples. It's important. I poured a mixture of shampoo and water over my head for the first 10 days or so using a picture. Good luck!
  8. tisab, I think you have it correct in what you said. It could be just the begining for chibbler1--many good years ahead!
  9. goodbyehello, Could you give a better description of a tricologist.
  10. chibbler1, I just had my head shaved for my HT and wished my prior doctors would have suggested it. There's a technical reason to do it so that you keep more of your native hair plus what you get from the transplant! It has to do with "transecting of hairs. Nobody could care less whether you have a hat on or not!! I'm keeping my head shaved for the next year, so after a quick year I'll have a better final. result.
  11. finnari, I'm also on 1mg per day and decided to stay on it and not dropoff of it for a couple months here and there. That's suppose to be the key. If you haven't heard, it also is a prostate maintenence drug at the same time if you've experienced diffuculty in that area.
  12. Prophet, It's nice to see you posted your 6-month update. It gives me something to look forward to. You're six months ahead of me exactly. I just saw Dr. Hasson last Monday! Your hairline looks incredible! Mine turned out even better than I planned after Dr. Hasson really made it the right way--understatement!
  13. Mrjb, Thanks! I am 87 days on Finasteride and felt also one to one and a half months would be about right to go on shaving my head. I've decided to keep my head shaved for one year from the time of my HT. This resolves the whole thing of looking at my hair constantly, and feel at that time I will see the full effect of the HT.
  14. Does anyone know when the shedding process starts and stops after an HT? I want to keep my head shaved down but don't want to start in too soon after my HT. Thanks.
  15. finnari, I couldn't even imagine being in a more akward situation than yours. Dr. Keene obviously knows at this point that she's getting a bad rap justifiably or not. A third party, for instance, could have heard the same conversation and taken it as her concern only for making sure she gets paid in a way that was promised. Maybe there is some friction between you both. But at this point unless you make the effort to correct it--wrong or right its like making a worker work under duress and will inevitably end up making mistakes, and I don't think anyone here wants to hear that of your HT.
  16. SinTPA, I'm Happy for you!! You are offically on "Transplant Highway". Good luck on figureing out how your going to keep from staring at your soon-to-be hairline! I'm sure you'll be puting up some photos in the near future to show better placement of the grafts.
  17. Rahul_39, To this day I still have scabing on my donor scar from an HT two plus years ago. I've wondered about it from time to time but I'm in perfect shape and it's so slight I don't care.
  18. HungryHoss, I also read sometime ago about being shaved down on top because of the benefit in the long run, and it mskes total sense to me, but even as important is how much attention to detail H&W demonstrate and seem to care!! I could have gone to probably anyone, anywhere and I'm going to Canada tomorrow to see Dr. Hasson for 3500 FUs. I've heard also that Dr. True is an excellent doctor, but I know who I'm seeing. Good luck also!
  19. Memebers and Guests, A few months ago I was getting closer to having another HT. I can't tell you all how finding the forums here made a huge difference in education then selection of the clinic. After looking at the different doctors recommended here, checking their websites, but even more importantly reading the posts from the first-hand patients I've come to an educated choice, and will be going to see Dr. Hasson of Hasson& Wong!! keep posting and you'll help the next guy or girl!

  21. Heman123, I have not heard of Dr. Jon W. Gaffeney, and everyone deserves a chance to prove himself so do a lot of research on him, his clinic and the whole industry. I did and I'm so glad!! You don't want to gamble with your finite donor hair. Good luck and don't make a decision until you've talked to the many people here that really know what's up.
  22. Folica, Thanks for the quick reply! I just read an article by Bill too: "Shock Loss" and it definitely cleared things up for me including what you said. I should be in good hands with Dr. Hasson
  23. hairme07, Did Dr. Armani discuss transection with you at all? It seems that it would take 72-hours to be able to safely place the grafts you received so as not to transect your native hair. Isn't it much easier if a patient is bald as opposed to having more hair the doctor has to manuver through? This has been a concern of mine since I've had my HT scheduled. Can anyone give me some facts about this. Thanks!
  24. andy25irish, Your right, I wouldn't even get that little amount of grafts for an eyebrow repair. If you strategize and plan well with a top-notch surgeon you can almost certainly have a decent head of hair in the long run, but talk to the guys who have been in your same or similar situation here and you'll go- " whew, I'm glad I didn't blow my donor hair!" Put up some pictures first and you'll be glad. And yes if a doctor feels your going to lose a certain area of native hair anyway they'll transplant that area-- I've only read that and it makes sense. Good luck.
  25. gazzasgoin2 said it as good as it could be said! And thanks again, Pat, for taking your job seriously and watching out for the welfare of the members on this forum!!
