  1. Congrats CharlieB on the HT. Can you show us some pictures of Dr Martinicks good work. I always knew Dr Martinick was an excellent doctors, that stupid Dave3Joseph was being the biggest dickhead making up crappy stories about her. Please share some photos with us because one day i would like to visit Dr Martinick in Sydney as well and have some work done by her and the team. Also good luck in the future with the growth, i am sure Dr Martinick did an awesome job and will always look after her patients to her best ability. Bundy, to answer your question as to the number of grafts Dr Martinick would perform is 2500 grafts in a day. And she wouldnt recommend you get any further HT until later on down the track. The reason why she told me max 2500 grafts is because she believe there are not enough blood circulation in the head to keep more than 2500 healthy. So she will very unlikely perform more than 2500. If i can remember i think it reduces down to 2000 grafts after you reach a certain age (i think it was 60). Hope this helps Jojo
  2. I thought this Dave guy was an idiot cause there is no way that Dr Martinick would behave like that. I think that this guys is just out to destroy the good name of Dr Martinick, because i been to her clinics and theres no way it is what Dave describes it as. Let me just make this clear, NOT ALL AUSTRALIANS ARE LIKE THAT. He was just a one off dickhead. I think most of us knew up to a stage that he was just being an idiot who just didnt have much better thing to do but be a dickhead.
  3. Hey Bill, have you heard from DaveJoseph yet? From this post http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=148796 Its already been more than 2 weeks. No photos or contacts i guess? Or if your reading this right now Dave, can you answer us and show us some pictures?

  5. Bobman, you look at least 10 years younger after that full head of hair. Close to 8000 grafts basically gave you a full head of hair like a 15 year old, except for a little bit in the crown. But i always think that the front half is more important, because most people see you from the front and remember your face, and not the back of there head. But nonetheless you look like a perfect model for what bald men want to achieve. We all want more hair so leave Bob alone for wanting more hair, we all want look good, and theres no exception for Bob. But Bob you have gotten so muscular over the last few years after the HT, one quick question. How much do you Bench press? Jo
  6. DaveJoseph, sorry to hear about your bad running with Dr Martinick mate. I went to her clinic in Bondi as well about a month ago now and man let me tell you, it was not what i expected, considering the reputation she has over here. It was in a little crappy Private hospital building with other surgeons. I have made a post recently about my experience. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=149122 I dont want to sound to negative about you dave, but your the first person i have come across that has had problems with Dr Martinick. I have spoken to a number of patients of hers and they are all very happy with her work. As with Damo, he has helped me out heaps. He replies to all my emails on questions i have. But you have to admit that they did a good job on Damo. Maybe she is just not good with FUE, but good with strip. When i went to her initial consultation, they didnt recommend FUE to me even though it was about 600-800 grafts for the temple. So i think shes only good with the strip method. However Dr Knudsen is also worth a visit. I have made another appointment with him to see if i can get some work done on the temple area. I didnt want to get Dr Martinick to do it cause she was charging alot more than Dr Knudsen and also her staff did not seem as useful as Dr Knudsens. He actually got me to go on propecia straight away and gave me a 6 months prescription (based on taking 3 pills a week instead of everyday) and told me to go back and see him when it runs out. But for some reason over the last month or 2 my hair has receeded even faster, so now i think i need more than 1000 grafts to fix the temple. By the way, i have a quick question for everyone. Has anyone who just started propecia feel that you hair loss in the hairline receeded faster?
  7. Have you got any before and after photos you can show us?
  8. Hi everyone, one quick question for all the brothers out there who has had a HT. Did you get any swelling after the HT? How long after the HT did the swelling occur? How long did the swelling last for ? Thank everyone for the input

  10. Wow Bill, you have come a long way man. Cant believe the transformation. Looking at you from the front i cant even tell you had lost any hair or you had a HT. Looks so awesome and natural, and your gonna have this for the rest of your life. Damm i am so jealous because you have a better hairline than me. (I am at a NW 2)But i have a denser back half Anyways Bill, keep us posted with more good news. Congrats on HTs OOh can i also add that man put your shirt on cause you make some of us look like sissies Man i dont wanna sound gay, but man i wouldnt mind having a body like yours too.
  11. Hi SETT, Try Nizoral Shampoo, either 1 or 2% will do. I had the same thing and when i started using it 2 weeks ago most of the itchiness went away and there is signs of less flaking. So it might take a while before your scalp recovers.
  12. Hello sanjeev, if you look at the post i just created "Propecia and Hairline" and look at my picture, it shows that i have lost the hair on my temple, and i assume you are in the same situation. The bad news for you and the rest of us in that situation is NO, or a very very small chance with drugs. I have been to many surgeons and the only solution is a Hair transplant, because the hair in that region has very high DHT and no drug can cope with it or reverse it. However drugs may work for you so you may want to give it a try first before a HT. Cheers mate
  13. Also i must add that in the temple areas (the area where i have lost hair so far) i was told that there is a lot more DHT in these areas that other areas of the scalp, which is why it is the first place where many people start to lose hair. I know my picture is crappy, but you can tell that the rest of my hair on the front is quite thick and my hairline seems to have matured as the receding has slowed down quite a bit over the last year or 2. So if propecia does not work on the front of the scalp, wouldnt it be better to get a HT to fill in a small area of the hair lost so far? and stop taking propecia so you can save some money?
  14. Hi Guys, i just wanted to get one thing clear from all the users that are currently using propecia. WILL IT CURB HAIR LOSS ON THE HAIRLINE???? I have read a number of posts on the forum and some people are also asking the same question. So if its possible, i would like the community to share some of their experience. I have attached a photo of my hairline, and have also started Propecia about 2 weeks ago. I only have a receding hairline (no loss in the crown) and the rest of my hair is quite thick and dense. Do you think it will stop my hair line receding or will it only stop hairloss in the crown and mid scalp?? Will Prpoecia help me keep the hair that i still have on the from half of my head???? The reason why i am asking this is if it dosnt seem to work on the hairline, i may stop taking the drug and only take it up again if the top starts to thin so i can save some money, and just get a small HT session to get my hair line restored. Thanks alot for the help guys

  16. Thanks alot for your support guys. I must also make it clear that Dr MArtinick herself may have turned me away from a HT, as it was her consultation staff that explained the HT procedure for me. Her staff did not full push me to have one, as i have made up my mind even before i walked in to have a little work done, so i think she knew i was pushing for a HT to restore some of the hairline. But she was very passive in assessing my hairline as she would not give me more than 1000 grafts at the hairline because it will pretty much restore my original hairline. So it was not so much she was pushing me to get a HT, as i think she knew i wanted one no matter what, and i guess she would rather that i do it under a good surgeon like DR Martinick. Also B Spot, these 2 surgeons are probably the 2 of best surgeons there are in Australia as i have spoken to a couple of past patients of them on this forum and their work great. I have been told that both these doctors have a very large number of patients, and i have not come across any bad experiences from anyone yet. Both of these doctors have won some award called like the Golden Follicle Award in recent years and are members of the ISHR and have great experience (over 4000 transplants each)and have shown great photos of patients, which i assume they are very good, and can do a job just as good as any HT surgeons around the world. Both these clinics can arrange times where i can meet a number of past patients and check out their work. So right now i have taken Dr Knudsen's advice to to take Propecia for about 6 months and go back and see him then. If it stabilises i was thinking of getting a little work done at the hairline. I know what you guys mean when you say i should hold it off for as long as you can, and i totally agree with that. But i have taken into consideration that you also dont want to leave it too late where you hairline has receded a great deal, then everyone will know that you had work done. This is why i think Dr Martinick's consultant didn't mind that i had a little work done so i can still hide it and no one will know i had work done. But when i have been in this forum for about 6 months now, and both you guys have helped me out a great deal, so i would like to thank you both.
  17. Hi everyone, i just wanted to share my experience with some HT doctors i had visited this week. I am sure this post can help some of you out there as i have seen a few users from Australia. This is quite a long post, but i just wanted to tell you everything that i experienced with these 2 surgeons at my initial consultation. The first surgeon i saw was Dr Russell Knudsen. My initial opinion when i walked into his office was WOW. It looked so professional. I mean, in the clinic it was so clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the whole clinic was just an absolute pleasant to visit. There were many rooms in the clinic for different patients. Waiting room for consultation, surgery room, recovery room for patients after surgery, consultation rooms, i mean it looked like no expenses were spared. And plus there was no advertising in the clinic of companies or drugs which is what i liked most. When i walked in there just before lunchtime, Dr Knudsen was completing a session for one of his patients. Then i saw all the staff he had with him during the surgery. They looked very professional and friendly. Soon after i met Dr Knudsen, it seems he had a HT too, with a head full of hair. Very polite, outgoing and helpful. At first he looked at my profile that i had just filled out, he seen my age (i will be 23 in a week or so) and straight away it seemed like he didnt want me to have a HT any time soon. Never did once during the surgery did he mention the word Hair transplant to me, or talked me into getting a HT. First he explained to me about the production of DHT, its effects and future hair loss. Then he told to to give Propecia a go. He didnt even mention HT until i bought it up, and even at that point it looked like he didnt want to go into details about it. When i asked him an i a good candidate for a HT? and said yes, but he wanted me to give propeica a try before any HT (as i am at a NW2 to NW3 right now). SO he gave me a prescription for 3 months and told me to go bad and see him when they run out. Thats what i expected from an ethical surgeon. As he recommended other options before surgery as i am still very young, which he took into great consideration. The fact that he never mentioned HT to me shows that he is definitely my choice of surgeon. Never once did he try to sell me any of his products or try to show off about his work or achievements. He also recommended that i take propecia and see if my hair loss stabalises before i should have a HT, otherwise i will need another surgery in the very near future to fill in the gap of the mature hairline and the grafts. On the same day, i visited Dr Martinick's office in Sydney. Now this office is much different to the one of Dr Knudsens, as this is at a private hospital and not a suite by itself like Dr Knudsens. As Dr Martinick does not reside in Sydney, i am sure her clinic in her home town of Perth will be much more professional. However i did not have my consultation with Dr Martinick herself, but with one of her surgery staff, who also happens to have great experience in assessing hair loss. Now, their approach to me was much more different to Dr Knudsens. Dr Martinicks consultant explained everything there is to know about hair loss and its process. But she did try to sell me HT at a very early stage of the consultation. I think she had a more aggressive approach to HT than Dr Knudsen. She also recommended me to try propecia, but she had leaned more towards getting a HT at the hairline, as she was telling the truth from many years of experince that the hair at the temple will not grow back so surgery is the only way to bring the hairline down. But propecia should be used for the rest of your hair which will work very well. She was very helpful as she explained all the options there is available and she recommended to me the best option through her experience of many years and past and present patients. Although she was telling me to get a HT for hairline, she would not recommend a strong hairline, as its just not viable. So to compare these two clinics, Dr knudsen took a very conservative approach and told me to wait for as long as possible. While Dr MArtinick's staff told me the absolute truth in never getting my hairline lowered through medication (or a very minimal chance)so if i wanted, i can choose to only have a small amount of work done soon and try to keep it with the rest of my hair. As if i have a HT now, its much less noticeable than when i am a NW4 or 5. Both of these clinics have a small difference in the view of what i should do, but in the end i think i do need a HT to restore a small area. So in my opinion both these clinics are just as good as one another, no one is better than the other, its just a different approach that different surgeons take based on their past experiences.
  18. Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. The main problem with me is that at first my hairline was really itchy and not too long after, my hairline kept receding even more. When it stopped itching, my receding hairline really slowed down or even stopped receding. Now i am at a NW2 to NW3 and my crown is starting to itch really bad, and sometimes when i scratch it, you see a few hairs fall out. Really scary !!!! So i am gonna try Nizoral and see if it works Thanks guys
  19. Hey Everyone, i just have 2 really quick questions for everyone in the community. 1) Does anyone suffer itchy scalp during the day especially in the areas where your hair is thinning or receding. My head seems to itch in areas where my hairline is receding and in the crown area, where i think its starting to thinning. Any ideas or experiences???? 2) Does anyone want to explain how DHT is created?? When i do a search for it, most websites only tell you how your organs create them, but exactly what do we do in life that creates DHT??? Some people say too much sex and masterbation and ejeculation increases DHT. Some say its naturally produced depending on certain people, they produce different amounts. Some say smoking increase it, some say drugs???? Any ideas anyone???? I think these 2 questions can be quite useful for some people so thats why i thought i might bring it up. Thanks everyone Jojojo.

  21. Hey Dopey, hows things with you now? Hope everything is well. Dr Martinick is probably the best HT surgeon in Australia (and probably one of the most expensive as well) but believe me, she is very good. I have read many post of people who had HT done by Dr Martinick and they all seem to be very conservative approaches, but they all say they are very happy with the final outcome. Have a look at these patients of Dr Martinicks from Australia: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=16 (username is Damo) http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=95 (username is Maxpower!) I am from Sydney and in the coming week i have an appointment with one of Dr Martinicks consultants. Also if you want to visit Dr Knudsen (do a google search to find his clinic, he operates in Syd, Melb, Brisb and ACT) he may have a different opinion. With all the research i have done, he is also very respectable and very good. (also cheaper than Martinick) But for what i have read from many past patients of Martinick is that is that it seems she does not perform big sessions. I have not read a post or feedbacks on large sessions done by Martinick, so you may want to see Dr knudsen. Whatever happens brother, i hope it all works well for you and hope the very best in the future for you. Cheers mate
  22. Hey mate, there is an Australian surgeon who operates in NZ as well. I have made an appointment to see him in Sydney in a few weeks time. But i dont know how good he is. I assume he is as good as Dr Martinick (probably not better) as he has a lot of experience and many qualifications. Do a google search on him and you will see how much he amazed me with his experience, and qualifcation.
  23. Hello everyone, i just wanted to ask everyone one who had a HT, how long before the scars in the recipient area and donor area took to heal up before it was ok to go back to work? How long does it take for the redness and scabs to disappear after the operation? Thank you for the help

  25. Hi For_Indai there is no need to get a hair transplant at all. I don't even think its even a NW2 yet. You still have plenty of hair. I am 22 and i am prob a NW2 to NW3 and i am only considering a hair transplant, but have not taken any action yet as i still think i am ok for now. A lot of people at at 25 would be very happy with the amount of hair you have. Believe me, if you get a HT now i think its a waste of money as you still have plenty of hair. Many users on this community website don't get a HT unless they have lost a major amount of hair on the front of the hair, please look at their photo albums. I too was thinking the same as you are, but when i started visiting this website, all the patients and users are very helpful and i found out that male baldness is a natural part of life and no one will have all their natural for the rest of their life. So losing a little of hair should not deter you from being a happy and normal person. Since i am almost at a NW2 or 3, and at 22, i wouldn't even get a HT to restore my full hairline as i know my hairline will recede more and by planning for the future you may want to be conservative. Sorry for the long post, but this is just what i learnt from all the great people in this community, and just hoping to help you understand what my opinion is about your situation. The next time you walk out on the streets , you will see many people will be a lot worse off at your age. So i think you are very lucky and should be happy staying the way you are now. Cheers from Australia
