  1. Hi guys I am back with some updates on 4.5 months Firstly to answer MrJobi's question - i am 24. Sorry for the late reply, been really busy lately. So far i am happy with the work. First picture shows a really fine scar remaining which is only a thin red line now. Second pictures showthe right temple seperating the natural hair from the transplanted ones. Some good growth, but hoping for more density. Third picture shows my new hairline from the transplanted hair. On this side the hair is quite thick and dense, but i am hoping more hair will grow and the area gets more dense than it is now. Fourth picture of my 4.5 month upgrade shows my left side. The area is not as dense as the right side but hoping for more growth. Will keep everyone with updates later on. Cheers.
  2. Hi Bill, i have been updating with everyone of my progress on the album section, but i havent done anything for about the last month or so because there has only been little growth, but the good news is that alot more new hair are coming through. Will keep everyone posted when i see more results. As for Goldstar , how u doing? Sorry i didnt make it clear for you. When i menat a ridge or bumpiness, i didnt relate it straight to the sutures. What i meant was that Dr Knudsen did a good job with the scar on the donor area and it is thin and not like those big hideous scars that you see patients with from bad HT doctors that leaves them them a big wide scar. That is what i meant. Sorry that i confused or scared you. Jojo
  3. How are you guys? I had a HT with Dr Knudsen in Australia and i think he uses dissolving stitches on all his patients including me. I am now exactly 3 months post op and everyhting is fine. The scar healed up nicely and theres no ridge or bumpiness on the scar, just a red line now. For me, the stitches dissolved completely in about 3-4 weeks at the very most. I can actually feel the stitches because the scabs on the scar does not heal over the stitches and whey they dissolve they are usually attached to the scab when you wash them out. I should not have done this, but on a few occasions i picked at the scab after 2 weeks to remove them and the stitches were stuck to it. Luckily for me it healed up nicely, but i do not recommend people to be impatient and pick out the scabs even if you use dissolving stitches and you want to remove them. Just let them dissolve and come out itself with the scabs when you wash your head. Jojo
  4. Hi everyone, Its been about 8-9 weeks now since surgery and have posted some photos to show some early results. If you look really closely it looks like there is some small strands growing now over the past week or so and very exciting. Everything has healed up nicely and the scar feels really good. No ridge or pain any more. Thank you everyone who has helped me out through the tough times (esp Bill) Cheers Jojo
  5. Hi Everyone, just added a pic of the donor site. 2 weeks post op. It was so hard to take a good pic of it. Dr Knudsen told me that he uses the Tricho closure (sorry if i didnt get the name of the technique right) using self dissolving stitches. I think at 2 weeks the stitches are fully dissolved and i and happy with how thin the scar is. I think there is a small amount of shock loss in the small area under the scar. Its still has a bit of scab on it but it does not feel thick or lump or as if it has a ridge on it. Feels perfectly normal. I also want to thank Bill and a few other guys on this site for some post op care tips. Thanks Jojo
  6. jfo, that is awesome news. Its always to good to see hair growing back naturally and no need for surgery. Along with B Spot i cant wait to see some photos. It just shows that technology and medication are getting better and better every year and sometime in the near future we may see (and hopefully) something that will help regrow more hair instead of HT as the only option. Thanks for sharing your story jfo and now i am thinking of using those medications when i lose more hair. Jojo
  7. Bill thanks for the advice. Is it ok to use Emu oil? If it is, do i use only straight emu oil or emu oil moisturising cream? I cannot seem to find any aloe vera gel. All i could find at the shops are aloe vera and emu oil moisturisiing creams? Is it ok to use it on the donor and graft site?
  8. Oh sorry i forgot to ask you guys about the donor area. All i am currently doing to the scar is soaking it with water in the shower and give it a gentle rub now and then. What should i really do, should i put some pressure into it and try to rub the scab off it in the shower? Also it is itchy as anything, so tempting to scratch it. Thanks guys
  9. Hey jfo, what do you mean you can feel your scar? Do you mean you can there is like a lumpy or thick scar? If you do that means you have a pretty big scar. Have a look at all the patients pictures on this forum, their scar is like a thin as a pencil line and can be barely detected. I think a good scar is only like a red pencil line, which does not look thick or as if its like a lump. So if you can feel you scar with your fingers then maybe its a pretty bad scar.
  10. Thanks for the help guys, great tips. Hey Bill, i just tried out what you do when coming out of the shower, and it works great. I slowly rub off the skin and at the same time there are little hair coming off it at the same time. However when the hair sheds, theres a little white bulb attached to it. I assume thats all normal? Once again thank you all for your help
  11. Hey everyone i am now about 10 days post op and have started to gently message the graft area to get rid of the scabs. I didnt have alot of scabs to begin with, but whatever scabs i had on the graft site are slowing coming off as i wash it. However i am getting a lot of dry flaky skin in the areas of the graft. When i message it, the flaky skins start to peel off along with some of the shedding hair. However the flaky skin and little hair do not come off easy sometimes. My question is, is it ok to use your nails to softly scrap of the skin and not damage the grafts? Is it normal for the flaky dry skin to peel of with the shedding hair? Please help cause i am a bit nervous about all this. Jojo
  12. Hey Bill I know you are interested in seeing what Dr Knudsens work looks like. I found some of his work here. http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/messageview.cfm?cati...86&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE= http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/746...781060202#8781060202 http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...=874103477#874103477 http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...=414004936#414004936 http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...=882004526#882004526
  13. I have just uploaded my one week post op photo. In this picture its much clearer and you can see the work of Dr Knudsen. The scabs are started to come off as well as some of those dry flaky skin. Great signs of improvement since the day of the HT. All the redness is gone and just a slight purple (ish) colour which i hope it disappears when the rest of the scabs come off. I am really happy with the hairline design as for the amount of grafts used. I dont think the hairline is too aggressive, what do you guys think? With my hair, one side has receded more than the other, so there is more grafts used on one side. Jojo
  14. Hey Bill and Janna, I will definitely keep everyone posted. I am very nervous as well as i hope it all turns out good with great growth, but i was told by the nurses who was cutting my graft that i will achieve great density as i have a lot of 2's and 3's, which i was told was a very high amount. I have tried to upload better quality photos but i think the resolution was too high as the photos album only allows upto 500kb per picture, so i only have these photos i can upload. I will try to take more photos later on in my progress on lower resolution. Jojo
  15. During the procedure all the nurses (all 6 of them) were very helpful and friendly and kept me entertained all the time. They were all very nice and helpful which must be mentioned. I am one week post op and things are looking good. No bleeding, swelling or pain at all. The scabs i think are starting to shed off and looks like the skins flakes in the recipient are are too. Dont know if thats normal. The scar is healing up nicely too. I try looking at the scar and it seems like the scab on it is only pencil line thin. I am very happy. The donor scar, i was told, was about 10cm long and only 1 cm wide. Which i healing up nicely and should be pencil line thin when it recovers. Dr Knudsen is very professional and he dosnt talk bullshit. He told me what was realistic and what could be achieved and did not make false promises. On the day of the procedure i was very nervous but when i sat there on the chair in the operating room i felt a bit better. The whole experience was great and i felt very safe in the hands of Dr Knudsen and hes qualified staff (yes they were all qualified nurses). Will keep everyone posted with results. Jojo
  16. I had a small procedure done by Dr Knudsen in Sydney Australia. I am pretty much a NW2 with some slight diffuse thinning with the hair i have left in the front, which is why i wanted to have some work done now before i lose more hair and unable to camouflage the HT. I was on propecia for about 3 months before i had the HT. I got 800 grafts done (FUT), which is very conservative considering i am NW2, but i did not want a very aggressive hairline. To get a very good low hairline required 1500 grafts, but me and Dr Knudsen knew it was not sensible to do so and being conservative was the best way to go. We used 800 grafts to fill in only the temple areas and i and very happy with what Dr Knudsen was able to achieve with such a small amount of grafts. The hairline design was great and what i realisticaly wanted with only 800 grafts Sorry i didnt get an exact count on the hairs, but the nurses told me i had a lot of 2's and 3's. But i think out of 800 grafts, the nurses said about 250 grafts of 2's and 3's each and possibly 300 grafts of 1's. I think its is pretty close to that but not 100% sure. Alll the 2's and 3's were placed on the back of the temple and all the 1's were used on the hairline. I am only one week post op and here are some photos. Sorry for the crappy photography. Will keep everyone posted.
  17. Hey Bill i will start posting photos when i recover and start to see some results. I am only about 1 week post op, and i have been taking photos. Hey Kg007 sorry i got carried away a little with my HT. After the HT i slept on the side of my head and did not put any pressure on the donor area. Sometimes i will also sleep face down tilting my head back slightly. Jojo
  18. Hi everyone, i just had a little work done on my hairline and i have to say that the techs did about half of the insertion of grafts. I had a small HT by Dr Knudsen in Australia and he had about 6 nurses working with him to work on me at once. (All very nice and friendly i might add). Dr Knudsen basically did every single thing in the Ht procedure, except placing the 2's and 3's grafts that are behind the hairline, where he used mainly 1's Only their qualified nurses with experience were placing the grafts. Whereas the other lower experience nurses were cutting the grafts. The nurses placed most of the 2's and 3's behind the hairline in my temple area and Dr Knudsen himself constructed the hairline. Before Dr Knudsen constructed the hairline, he checked to make sure that all the grafts placed by the nurses are placed correctly before he started the hairline. At first i felt a little uncomfortable seeing the nurses work on my hair instead of the Doc himself, but then they told me they have had plenty of experience, which then made me feel a little more comfy. After the work was completed i was very happy with how clean the work was and was very happy with the hairline he had created. I have attached a photo of the day after the surgery. Sorry for the crappy photography. Jojo
  19. Hello there Billonny. have to say that proscar did some awesome work for you. I am from Australia and i just recently had a little work done by Dr Knudsen on the hairline a few days ago and i will keep everyone posted. Let me know if you wanna ask me about anything of Dr Kndusen cause it was so easy and comfortable with all his friendly staff who walked and talked me through everything and entertained me during the procedure. Its probably true that you need at least 5000 grafts on the top to cover the whole area. Have a look at Bill who is sitting on about 7500 grafts and he had a bit more had that you do before his HTs Jojo
  20. Damm that looks awesome. To me its probably going to look totally natural when it matures. But just once question for everyone here. Is it just me or that Dr Rahal uses a lot of grafts for young patients in the front area of the scalp. I mean this case it is almost 3800 grafts. I mean i have seen a lot of patients from other doctors that uses 3800 grafts for more coverage, where in this case it is mainly on the hairline. I mean i am sure ppl are goning to get worried if they use too many grafts right now for the front. Jojo
  21. Hey Simmo, i am from Sydney and i too have been to a visit to Dr Martinick. I know she has copped some crap lately from this forumm, but believe me, she is a very good surgeon. The only problem with her is that she is very pricey. She quote me 600 for about $6000. Have you seen DR Russell Knudsen? I have book with him 600-800 grafts in 3 weeks time. If you want you can email me after i had my HT and i can let you know what happens. He is also a lot cheaper. Which i believe is about the same price as top surgeons charge in the US. I am very confident with Dr Knudsen as i know he isnt there for my money cause i had to convince him to get me a HT becasue of my age. So we only decided a small amount of work on the temple (600-800). We were very conservative because of my age. Currently i am a NW2-3. So we both agreed on something more conservative. Jojo
  22. Hey Srod, i am only 23 and have less hair than you do and theres i havent even had a HT. It looks like you have only lost some hair in the temple area and assuming the rest of your hair is pretty thick. There is absolutely not need for a HT. There are some brothers on this forum that could spend as much money as they could and get as many grafts as possible and they still wont have as much as hair as you do. If i had that much hair when i am 35 i would be over the moon. I am only 23 and have less than you do. Check out my temple area
  23. Sanjeev, havent you ask this question before? Or maybe it might be someone else. The bad news for all of us is that there is NO MEDICINE that can regrow the temple area. I was told by a number of HT surgeons that once the hair in the temple recedes, its very very unlikely to grow back at all. You may see a few really thin and short strands of hair grow back, which is barely visible. I too have lost my hair at the temple region and the only way to get it back is to have a HT and restore it. Sorry to break the bad news to you but we are all the same situation and we would all love more hair, but thats life. Jojo
  24. Hi all Dear Wanthair, first i agree that it looks weird that it looks like it in patterns, but i am sure than Dr Martinick had her reasons. And i am not involved with Martinick at all. The reason why i said it looks good is because i am comparing it to other HT on this forum. This patient only had about 1200 grafts and it seems to have done a lot for the number of grafts. Also it dosnt look as bloody and fleshy like other transplants. Thats all i have taken into consideration. But i do agree with everyone that this is kinda odd and its the first time i have seen it. Jojo
  25. Wow that looks awesome bro. Dr Martinick seems to know how to make good coverage with such a low amount of grafts. Also it dosnt even look bloody or fleshy like some of the HT patients on the forum. I remember her showing me her technique of creating the grafts to swirl like your natural hair. Now i have finally got to see her work.It looks like she did it here. I know its too early to comment but it looks like she did awesome job. Looks fantastic so far for only an hour. Please keep us updated cause i am sure there are many Aussies in the forum (including me) that would like to see more of her work and to get our HT done by her too. Great work Dr Martinick. Congrats CharlesB Jojo
