First off until very recently, I want to say the last couple of months? is when scientists identified the baldness gene. We had no idea what had caused baldness until that point. DHT is part of the equation however it is not the root cause. That is where the problem has been all this time. You cannot solve a problem when you do not understand what the source of that problem is. Now that we know where the root cause is scientists can start working on a solution. Until now it has either been a band aide approach or a shot in the dark. Lets not kid ourselves. HL drugs, HT's etc are all just band aide approaches, not a true cure. unfortunately time is all it will take now

Good find with this article. How far along are they with testing and how does this differ from aderans and/or histogens work? The article mentioned it has worked on mice, any developments on human tissue?

I have used toppik up top and darmatch around the scar area.. I did wait roughly a good month after the procedure though

First off not all HT's are created equal. There is a reason why only a few specific docs consistently give good-great looking results while others give butcher-mehh results.. Even at $25/hr x 6 hours. You are looking at $150, x 4 techs = $600. That is only the transplant itself, not including prep and post time. That does not include potential medical coverage they are given as well as other perks... Let us also consider rent, equipment ( keeping up with potential new technology) constant research... Oh and a little thing like spending a ton of money on a medical degree and taking the risk of starting your own practice... This all add's up very quickly. And let's not forget not all sessions have a $15k price tag on them... based on what I have seen the avg is in the $7-$10k range Without getting into specifics I know certain docs will perform the strip and fue specifically themselves, while most of the implantation is done by the techs Even though it is very emotional to us all, let us not lose sight of the fact that this is still only a cosmetic procedure

No offense however this is a pretty false statement. Here is why.. HT surgeons make up only a small % of those "treated" for MPB through out the world. Even products like rogaine, propecia.. are peanuts in the scheme of things in terms of their reach.. Plus, this potential procedure is something everyone will have to go through, even future generations, so money will be made forever. Don't kid yourself, something like this will be a trillion dollar product

So long as you have some hairs to work with yes. Especially since it is the crown, it is even better since most people won't even give it a second look. Don;t forget to lock the toppik in with some sort of spray. However keep in mind your crown is pretty thin, it will progressively get worse in the next few years, and once you lose these thin hairs, toppik will not work any longer for you. Good luck dude

I started to notice some loss around 18 as well. It is such a horrible feeling man! If I may ask, are you in good shape? That helps to ease attention away form your head and ot give you better confidence? from a diet stand point try to stay away from processed foods and get your hormone levels checked. make sure you don't have any thyroid problems, and check for gluten sensitivity... I received my first ht around the age of 24 and it has been a serious mission that i was not as prepared for as I thought I would. shampoo wise I tend to you head n shoulders with zinc. Do what you can for the next few years. Then re evaluate around the age of 25. toppik and couvre can also work wonders. When you feel you can't cover HL through styling any longer. Jump on those bad boys.. If you do wish to go the HT route after age 25, make sure you have some serious cash saved, and set aside for future treatments. From your first procedure to your last, it may cost you upwards of 50k.. Keep yourself updated on HT news, and hopefully you will be educated enough to combat accordingly good luck dude

Wow I am around the 60% in comparison. With that much, I don't think I would worry about HL again... When you mention that the patient requires more. is it a matter of touching up certain spots that are a bit thinner than he prefers or does he have full on bald patches?

20k grafts via fue? How much does he charge per graft? and over how many sessions? Thats anywhere from $175-$200k! If he puts another 3k into his crown and another 1500 or so at the hairline to make it look stronger.. he will have just about no signs of HL.. That's pretty damn crazy! Aside from the above two questions, any way to find out what the graft survival rate was? On a personal note I am at roughly 6,500 grafts roughly 1k with karamikian in 05 (although it looks more like 500-750) Had a follow up with Dr Feller to fix Karamikians crap, roughly 3k Then another 2,500 or so with Dr Feller... I have roughly 3k left in my donor area. Which is why I want to start looking into beard hair as well, maybe another 3-4k? if I can place roughly 750 into the strip area Between beard and donor that leaves roughly 6k. another 4k into the crown and 2k for the mid section over 3-4 sessions? Keep it at roughly a #5 guard on top and I will be a happy camper.. So who has an extra $50k laying around?

From what I remember the problem with ICX was that the multiplied hairs grew the first time, however they did not survive the hair cycle, and as soon as they fell they never grew back. Hopefully whatever procedure is being used here will work over the long run..

When it comes to HL I am as pessemistic as you can get. For a decade I have seen promises come and go, hopes shattered.. So whenever I come across any type of promising news... I turn it inside out and question the heck out of it. hat is the reason why farrel kicked me out of the harilosshelp forum. There were a bunch of yes men there, and I was questioning a new product that was being evaluated. In a nutshell they didn't like my "depressing attitude" and thought I should be more open to these products. Longer story short, the product that I said looked bs, turned out to be just that and the vicious cycle continues while everyone keeps getting their hopes shattered. I am glad to see some of you are being more careful on here

to look semi thin yet still manageable I would say a good 2k to the front third and about 1500 for the crown... Depending on future loss I would guess to say you would need a minimum of another 1k in the crown and another 1k in the middle. for the time being 3000-3500 is a good bet.

int he last few years I have become a toppik/ dermmatch ninja and toppik will work just fine for you, I would even experiment with a combination of dermmatch and toppik use... If you comb the hair that is flowing down forward as the previous poster mentioned it will work even better. however keep in mind under direct sunlight it will def look weird.

Post up for my 3 procedures I refrained from touching the area (short of lightly washing my hair) for 2 weeks just to be safe. At 7 weeks you are more than fine... With regard to exercising. again for the first 2 weeks I would not do anything, and even then, get back into it slowly... Good luck

Has HSC been evaluated for safety yet, or is that what this 2nd phase trial will find? If it has been found safe and they just want to see how well it can work.. I live in NYC and won;t mind adding an extra commute to my routine

So not to long ago, I was not able to find my toppik before going out and flipped out!! My procedure consists of dermmatch in the front followed by toppik in the crown all locked in with hair spray. I had to think fast.. I went through my cabinets trying to find anything useful.. long story short I found some ground coffee that was in a very soft powder form. I got away with it, making sure I was not sitting down for people to look at the top of my head with... In either case I ended up finding the toppik again the next day. This wold not be a viable long term solution. It definitely was darker than my normal hair color. However for emergency use, particularly if you travel and something happens to your bag. This may be a useful tip for some of you to keep in mind... Again only for the crown
