  1. i have a mixed bag of feelings of above responses about Mahair . On the one hand i think its very important that he posts so guys are aware of the shady practices many hairmills and unsavory doctors engage in. we all assume bad hair transplants are a thing of the past, but id say bad hair transplants are still the norm and not the exception. maybe 5% of the thousands of HT doctors & clinics are worth considering. The rest probably create more "Mahairs" who live in shame and ruin everyday. I also know what its like to live with and cover up a bad HT from the past, so i can understand what he is coming from its a difficult life to live. But on the other hand, Mahair not posting any specifics, his doctors name, or some photos or something doesnt do his case any good. Mahair told us he went to MHR, so i hope new guys reading his story from not years ago, but here and now in 2003 wise up dont go to them.
  2. Here is some great work by Lee Bosley himself: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/attachments/scarcity%2Ejpg http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=25188&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE= As far as im concerned when so called bosley doctors screw up a guys head like that and destroy probably thousands of lives, and make millions of dollars in the process, they are criminals. The doctors should be put on trial for Crimes against Humanity and either put in jail for life or executed. There is no excuse for the countless lives Bosley & the gang have destroyed out there.
  3. Mahair are you taking any minoxidil/rogaine? The warning labels on minoxidil bottles mention chest pain, rapid heart beat, faintness and dizziness from use of minoxidil/rogaine.
  4. I really dont think 2500 grafts is a scary number, its probably about near average now adays, or borderline average. Between 1500-2500 seems to be the average amount now adays for any hair transplant session. On the other hand if only 35%-40% grew as the guy claims from his Dr Jones procedure, then he should complain about it, because that seems unusually very low?
  5. MaHair can you tell us who the Doctor is/was who performed your sugery?
  6. mahair, if you have a tight scalp now, going for another strip surgery from even the best doctors might not be a good idea. It might make the problem worse.
  7. i tried minoxidil, it works so/so but gives me headaches. remember minoxidil is a blood pressure lowering medication. thats what it was invented for... So if it gives you headaches/dizzyness i would stop using it. i also notice bags under my eyes when i use it as well.
  8. Still jotronic you have to admit, Everything that happened to Ken, for about 10 years or so, little less or more, Happened to you probably. (and many of us as well) And you really dont know how you/the transplanted hair you had recently will look 10 years from now. (as neither do i). However just a thinner look 10 years from now with fu's is defenitely more natural no matter what, so that point is well taken. Do you have any patient photos of H&W from 1993 and how they look today, 10 years later? that would be interesting to see. Chances are H&W were not doing 'all fu' back then, or maybe not as good as they do today, so in many cases Ken's theory might hold true at this point for many of his statements. At this point id guess 99% of those patients who had work 10 years ago 1993/4 and before would probably semi-agree with many of Ken's points.
  9. i dont know ken, i work out regularly, and it doesnt seem to make much difference. you can try standing on your head an hour each day for a couple of weeks and see if the blood flow helps. You dont seem as Enthusiastic as you were a couple of months ago, has your new formula stopped working/slowed down? Are the tiny hairs not growing fast enough? Ive been able to grow tiny hairs myself, but they seemed to have stalled at a point and never became "terminal/dark" long hairs. best i could get them was maybe a millimeter or 2 tops, and they were all fine. Good Luck!
  10. I gotta tell Ken makes very good Points. I agree with most of what he says. I had transplants at a young age in 1989. "one round" fortunately i did not go back for more back then, or id very difficult to have been repaired now & look half way decent. And being repaired now for many guys is just getting to a point of "looking normal" again. But even the transplanted hairs do thin out over time as well some of the transplants you get today if you are young and still balding. Your side and back of your head hairs thin out too. Propecia can help, but even then alot of guys have switched to trying avodart because propecia lost its effectiveness. I really think transplants are only good for significant baldness to just have some hair on top and a very conservative/recessed hairline can work ok. For norwood 5's and 6's... and some 4's. Beyond that, if your just filling in the front, and you are relatively young, you're going to play a lifelong catchup game and gamble, you cant win with transplants. or hopefully cloning/hair multiplication can be a viable option in the next few years as well.
  11. I couldnt see your pic, but a "minor" transplant is usually a very bad idea. A. you may have shock loss and lose more hair then you gain. Wind up balder after the transplant then before. B. You may lose more hair/continue to recede and wind up with a fringe of hair in the front/low hairline on your head that looks strange and unnaturual. Best advice is to try some rogaine, propecia, or just forget about it.
  12. Personally i think they are about the same. Just flip a coin, or talk to both and see who you feel more comfortable with.
  13. Hello. Have you tried propecia at all? I would get on propecia regardless and try it for 6 months to a year at least. it may help revive alot of the miniaturized hairs you have in the front. you didnt mention propecia, so its at least worth trying before jumping into transplants at 25. Also you may want to consider a shorter hair cut. buzz cut it and perhaps you'll look like you have alot more hair there if you know what i mean. right now, there appears to be a huge contrast between the thinning front and the much thicker back of your head makes an obvious appearance of balding. if you look at a lawn of grass, its easier to see the areas with no grass right next to the areas of thick tall grass. the no grass bald patches stand out more. Dr Feller is a good doctor, but i personally think he charges to much for his FUE work compared to other north american doctors out there. try to negotiate with him for a better price. i think you should give propecia a chance if you havent already.
  14. MaHair those are some good choices. I think you'll be fine. Your on the right path to repair at this point. Many guys dont realize the slick marketting commercials of the hair mills out there and easily get drawn into shoddy work Hang in there buddy and be positive. You'll get through this and you have friends on here who will support you. I wish you the best.
  15. Hi Pid i still had quite a bit of scabs after 4 weeks. My doctor recommended not to touch or wet the area for 10-14 days and let it heal on its own and let nature take its course. After 4 weeks i think its Ok to very gently rub the scabs off. they'l come off a bit if you gently rub them. The hair is growing so i dont think it matters much at 4 weeks they probably settled a a while ago. Also soaking in the tub will help alot too.
  16. looks good franklin, but like i mentioned i must be a norwood 10,000 compared to you.. man oh man.. geezus.. id be thrilled to have that much hair in your before photos. it looks like your top photo a wide part as far as im concerned.
  17. I think Dr Feller is a decent choice. On a scale of 1 to 10, ill give him a solid 7, above average. I'd defenitely check him out for a consultation at least.
  18. i think you should go get a passport. a. its good to have one in general anyways, b. youll feel more at ease having one with you. c. less hassles & problems. security will probably be increased around the holidays/next month. So id go get one just to have.
  19. jotronic, you have seen FUE work from Dr Woods up close and in person. Im asking you because you seem fair minded & the original poster referenced you. Can you give us an analysis of what you saw in the donor area. Did it look like a chicken had pecked their head like Dr Andrews described? would you classify it as 30 year old technology like Dr Andrews did? esp. compared to what these 2 patients, their other doctors did to them. which was more visible? Jotronic, for example, can you give your input and tell us how the donor area of doctor woods did with poet , compared to NHI work. (on the same head) You saw both on one head, Which one was visible? and by how far was it more visible 100,000% ? To be fair, As far as undetectability in the donor area is concerned would you classify it as a "10" ?
  20. Hey Joe HT. I think its a good idea to wait 6-9 months at least between transplants for strip, but with FUE it can be a much shorter time frame between procedures. But it also depends on if you had your whole head covered, or just a certain section. If you have them spread out over your head, then regardless of either procedure its best to wait a while. In your case from the top view of your head it looks as though the hitzig clinic did alot of work on the hairline and "spread them out" big time around the rest of your head. So you might be able to get fue done soon in the middle of your head. I myself did my research for a good 6-8 months then had "all fue" work done with Dr. Woods & i think the FUE procedure is the best way to go for minimal risk / maximum reward ratio. Im a little over 3 months post op and the growth is starting to kick in. Some guys dont think strip scars are a big deal, But if you scan the top 10 - 20 threads right now here on htn, at least half or more of the topics are guys discussing or complaining about their strip scars, tightness in the scalp, massive shock loss even in the donor area, cant even sleep at night. So go figure... If you are on Long Island, Dr Feller is a pretty good HT doctor in your neighborhood who also has said he has made great progress in FUE and his confidence seems to have gone up with his FUE procedures. So he might be a close by Doc to check out.
  21. well i was wrong, you never know on these things with all the stuff that gets thrown around.. Congrats balloonman! Congrats to Dr Feller! Balloonman, By this result, it puts everything you have told us about fue into scar tissue as not true?? What happened?
  22. Dart, Im not sure Dr Feller even wrote that to be honest... its hard to tell, but it looks like a VERY GOOD immitation of Dr Feller if you ask me maybe im wrong, but i think whoever wrote that made it up. [This message was edited by baldbozo on November 07, 2003 at 09:27 PM.]
  23. Joe HT, did you say you went to the Gary Hitzig Clinic? You went one day last week, had a consultation and went in the very next day for surgery, and those are your post op pics, right?
  24. MaHair who was your doctor? What clinic did you go to? You sound like you were badly damaged.
  25. guys take him up on that offer... i would , but its silly for me, because im 2 months post op over entire head. if you do the math, and if your losing your hair, you dont have much to lose i quick search on orbitz for nyc to greece, is less then $600 round trip. the trip alone, turns into a psuedo vacation + the surgery can be a very liberating experience.
