  1. Wow, I see now. Thought my doc was referring to the added propecia he recommended when he spoke of a success rate close to 110% being possible after a HT.
  2. Whoa. If it really worked after only a couple uses, then we should take turns renting it!
  3. No reason to worry yet. For me, I mean. You're screwed. (jk, nothing abnormal from what I've seen/read in the past year since undergoing my own HT)
  4. Sounds awful spontaneous to be a regular case of female balding. Get to a few doctors, could be a treatment that has nothing to do with getting involved for life with Rogaine.
  5. Well I only want 'improvement', with a bit left for overall frontal coverage (almost happy with my front already, I've shifted prioities to filling in the crown a bit). Just enough to make the pattern a bit less obvious. As for the comment about body hair, I *expect* to be migrating some of nature's little testosterone joke in just that manner, as I need. The thing is, I will only use head hair for the immediate hairline, and since bodyhair FUE would cost consideraly more, I'd rather make a larger job of the crown from a strip. Call me odd, but the thought of more surgery interests and excites me silly. Especially going with body hair. How big a problem is shock loss really, on the average? That's my main concern in all this, as it's not as easy to plan for as available hairs from the head and body.
  6. Indeed that's easily believable, looking at the size of the area. My hope is that the propecia and rogaine come through. And I don't take them expecting regrowth, I take them expecting a near-halting or very effective slowdown of loss, so that the grafts I do get added in would be to contribute to density as opposed to being my only coverage in the next 10 or so years. Sorta hoping the next decade brings advances in multiplying hairs, otherwise I'll be yankin' follicles outta everything from my chest to toes later on in life.
  7. Thanks for the replies. The issue for me is the number of grafts vs possible shock loss warranting a crown HT. Also, I know I won't be able to spend too many follicles there, need future reserves.
  8. You've covered more or less all my thought processes in that response. My first HT was one of them mix-grafts. Found this place after the fact, but I can't say I'm unhappy with the results at all. It was a full coverage session, with the exception of the back/crown area for the sake of seeing how finasteride handles that. About a year now, two weeks or so away, marks the anniversary. The Rogaine started one year before the operation, so I been on that nearly two years, and finasteride (assuming it's legit stuff, only proscar pills from now on) has been a year, with the HT. The doctor did in fact bring up concern of thinning from the neck up, it's not gotten worse in a few years so far that I've noticed I have thin hair there, hopefully it's not going to go away anytime soon. Basically it's gonna be a balancing act, of what I want and what I can do. "Improvement" is all my goal is for the crown area for the time being. Guess you know all that, just wanna make sure I don't come across as "greedy" or unrealistic with my expectactions as compared to reality. On the other hand, I also have no problems with several future FUE surgeries, including body hair. Make nature give something back. Edit: BTW I'm 31, been pretty dang bald since early 20's, I went from sparse peachfuzz to things that qualify as real hairs on my head.
  9. If 1000 grafts makes for a good difference I'd be VERY pleased. Btw this would be my last strip procedure if I do it. And I have no plans on rushing the last 1-2 HT's at all, I consider it a long-term plan, so I am factoring in further hair loss.
  10. Nearly a dupe post of the thread I made in another forum, but I'd like regular posters' opinions as well. I want crown coverage, and feel that's the priority for my next HT. Educated guesswork, what kind of craft count would you say would constitute a worthwhile improvement in this crown area, considering the area's size, and possible shock loss involved with pre-existing hairs. I wouldn't want to invest more than 1500-2000 or so FU's on it, because I do in fact want to address the front again *if* it's a realistic possibility later on. But if it comes down to one or the other, I want thr crown coverage. This is assuming I'm satisfied that rogaine and finasteride have stablized loss enough to go forward with it. Here's a pic I'd taken before for another thread, of the workspace. (Btw I do not intend on letting the hair grow out, even though it does in fact add a dense look to the little I already have ) Big area, but I'm not looking for 'perfect', just 'improved noticeably'.

  12. I am very wary as to just when I'm going in for my next HT. I've been on rogaine and what I hope is finasteride (overseas, you know) after a single HT and I am happy with the gain. If my loss is stabilized well enough, I would like to add density to my crown area. My gf says that's the biggest contributor to the 'bald' look of mine, and I agree and would like to add some density. Is it worthwhile, with the possibility of shockloss and considering what a big area it is, to invest 1500-2500 follicles into this spot? Should I go with less? More? I'm only looking for 'improvement' there. I would rather keep my hair relatively short, as opposed to growing it out 3 inches. If necessary, I'll take more pics, but for now, this: Yeah, and I'd like to fill in the temples/hairline area, but the crown's more of a priority at the moment if I ultimately have to choose.

  14. Mine can be felt, by myself. That area of my head was always prone to zits, which were kind enough to surface during healing, so maybe that factored in. Not in the slightest bit noticeable visually, and not at all uncomfortable. Again, it can barely be felt. You may not even want to bother with FUE if the strip's done very well if you go to a doctor recommended by this forum. And please do. I know the temptation of a cheap job with the results you see in a Bosley ad can be awful tempting for a young guy who wants results.
  15. The hairline issue's a nutcracker for me, personally. I want to lower it, but probably can't even make a guess at a safe level for years now. I personally think a "safer" hair transplant that has better general coverage looks better than an aggressive hairline HT after more balding occurs. The whole point is you're balding, gotta think ahead and take that condition into consideration. Wow, sounds pretty grim saying it like that.
