  1. Assuming the following: 1. Strip is approximately 1 cm wide 2. Strip is approximately 24 cm long (ear to ear) 3. Average Scalp laxity 4. Procedures are spaced out 1 year apart. Do you folks think 3-4 1 cm x 24cm strip procedures by a skilled surgeon is possible over the course of a lifetime? Also once you get your procedure done, assuming the elasticity of the scalp is not exceeded will the thickness of the scalp in the donor area replensh itself over time or does the skin continue to get thinner? Thanks in advance for any and all input. TCK

  3. I just ordered a 3 month supply of Revivogen. I am a big Saw Palmetto proponent. I do NOT work for this company in any way whatsoever. Anyways I am on Proscar (1/4 tablet of 5mg) and have taken Saw Palmetto for years. What I like about this product is the ingredients and the fact that it tackles the DHT problem topically in addition to Proscar and Saw Palmetto's internal approach. If you call in to headquarters, tell them you saw it on the bald truth.com and you get an extra 10% off. 3 months supply with shampoo is 99 bucks less 10%. Anyways I am going to try this for 3 months just for the heck of it. I am 3 1/2 months post op with good growth from my 2500 FU HT. Do I need to use caution in using Revivogen? All answers will be taken into consideration. By the way my hairloss has stabilized, I am just looking for another option in my treatment program. Here is the link if anyone is interested: Here is how it SUPPOSEDLY WORKS: http://www.revivogen.com/products.html Here is the studies of it: http://www.revivogen.com/research.html Before and after pictures: http://www.revivogen.com/pictures.html Ordering information http://www.revivogen.com/order.html Thanks TCK

  5. Broadening your V and keeping your center point of your frontal hairline at it's current location requires alot less hair for a dense look than if you lower your whole hairline together. The extra FU's you will save by just broadening your V will definately give you more FU's to use in your crown and mid scalp area. Also with a nice broad V pattern you can pretty much style your hair anyway you want. So many times when our hairlines start to recede we become selfconcious about our foreheads, yet that forehead space is critical in creating a nice contrast between our eyes & facial features, forehead, and hairline. I have seen some dudes with really low natural hairlines and they tend to have this neanderthal type look. I would take a higher hairline any day over a lower one in my opinion. Also remember that no one knows what is in the cards for future hairloss as well as future hairloss technology. Personally I think if at all possible try to keep 1-2k of FU's in reserve for future possibilities once your restoration is complete. All the best, TCK Just my opinion.
  6. For 2100 FU's I think you look great. I like your reasoning Crown next with one more pass on top. Instead of lowering your hairline from the midpoint front, you may want to consider broadening or widening the v pattern of your hairline. I must say that with those 2100 intitial FU's you had done they are going to act as a very strong base for your next procedure. On your next procedure you might consider going with 1000 FU's in the top front and a 1000 FU's in the crown. You would be sittin pretty with over 4000 FU's on your head. You may very well be able to complete your hair restoration with one more procedure that is unless you bump into Jotronic. lol!! (Just kidding) Jotronic looks awesome!! Seriously though your result looks fantastic!!! All the best! TCK

  9. I only take Proscar on Days which do not begin with T. In other words I take it 5 days a week taking off Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's easy to remember this way. I have no side effects. I figure this is a little more aggressive than every other day while giving my body a bit of a break. Any comments welcome. TCK
  10. I had a 2500 FU session with Dr. Hasson in mid September, approx 10 weeks ago. For the first 2 weeks I was a little FREAKED OUT with the feeling of moving my eyebrows and feeling a little tension on my scalp. Also I found the feeling of Watermelon Head Sensation also a little disconcerting for the first 3 weeks. How I define Watermellon Head is the sensation I would get when laying down at night. The dullness in the back of my head made it feel bigger than it was. Initially I noticed "Walking Around Watermellon Head Syndrome" for about the first week at the longest. By the second week when I walked around my head was feeling normal. But weeks 2-3 or 4 still caused me to feel big headed when I laid down at night. For me this awkward sensation cleared up gradually each week. Each week I felt better and better. At approx 10 weeks, I would say I have about 93-95% feeling back in both the donor and recipient areas. It just keeps getting better so much so that it almost feels normal! Also regarding my scar, Dr. Hasson took a long strip from ear to ear that he termed as a narrow 1 cm strip. I figure my strip was approx 24 cm. which averages out to approx 104 FU's cm2. Before my HT, I was pretty nervous about the scar and verbalized my concerns to the good doctor. No sweat, he kept the strip on the conservative side which was fine by me. One comment about strips that I have learned. Longer Narrower More Conservative Strips Are Definately The Way To Go. I would rather go with 1 good sized session and a followup small touch up session both using narrower strips, than get too agressive on one session and risk stretchback. But hey that's me. That is one of the many reasons I decided to use Dr. Hasson becuase he is a conservative and realistic. Other important reasons that came into play is that he has done 5500 - 6000 transplants approx, as well as his artistic ability. This by the way is not an advertisement for Hasson & Wong just the facts relating to my own experience. Incidently I would have been as comfortable going with Dr. Wong, but in my case Dr. Hasson did a great result on a buddy of mine so I figured to go with him. As far as my scar goes I actually forgot to even look at it for the last week or so. When I did look at it, including redness the scar is in the 1mm area, but alot of that is redness. Today I definately noticed that the redness has faded since I last checked. As the scar gets near my ears in some places I can barely see it!! I would expect the final size of my scar without any redness to be reduced to .5-.7 of 1 mmm. Other GOOD NEWS from the scar front is that I have almost normal laxity in the back of my scalp! I can easily move my scalp on my skull and can GENTLY pinch approx 1/2 an inch of excess on the back of my scalp where the scalp is. I am really surprised how quickly it has and is healing up. In conclusion one needs to first determine conservative strip size and # of FU's that can be harvested and then decide on what objectives you will try to meet on that surgery. As a rookie I focused too much attention on my hairline objectives and not enough on what would be the utilization strategy for these FU's. Again Dr. Hasson's vast experience of doing thousands of HT's, allowed him to give me the most HONEST, REALISTIC, advice I could ever have wanted. When he first told me where he thought my hairline should be I was a little deflated, but thinking back I would rather have that feeling prior to making my decision than going with a doctor who tells you what you want to hear, puts your hairline too low with unsatisfactory density and sets you up for many a return trip. With Dr. Hasson I have the choice of getting a touch up to flatten the V's or just go with one procedure because the intitial procedure resulted in excellent density! My V is pretty broad already and I will probably give it a year or so before I decide if I want to do a little V hairline flattenning with say 700 FU's. That question though is for the future. My little guys are really starting to come in. My digital camera is broken, but I will be buying one shortly to take some picks to post on this thread for you folks. Just my opinion, sorry for rambling. I am NOT a paid advocate for Hasson & Wong. I am an extremely satisfies client of H & W. TCK
  11. "Most likely there is room for both, but though the dollar amount of strip is less $$ you pay in other ways. Niether is perfect." I guess that is what it really comes down to, neither is perfect. Regarding the strips, alot depends on keeping those hairy bacon strips 1cm or less. I think if someone got a little too greedy on their first strip could this reduce the number of future strip procedures? Also is anyone aware of whether or not the scalp can restore it's laxity IF IT HAS EVER BEEN EXCEEDED? And if so HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE? The reason I ask this is that for burn patients I once saw a documentary on them removing healthy skin from other parts of their body, and stretching the heck out of that skin before using it too cover the destroyed surface area. I wonder how our scalp skin is a whole lot different than the skin on other parts of our body? The reason I am thinking along these lines is the number of strips Jotronic has been able to harvest from his donor area. I guess in the end atleast FUE does offer an alternative, but one that definately has it's own unique set of problems. Just my opinion, TCK
  12. One Centimetre strip is not a big chunk when you consider that many get much larger strips 1.5-2 cm. One Doctor said it best and I paraphrase: When one centimetre strip is not exceeded and one waits atleast 9 months to 1 year between procedures the results are almost MAGICAL. The key in FU Strip surgery is not to get too GREEDY! Just my opinion,] TCK
  13. I still have not seen conclusive photos of no scarring with FUE method. How can their be no scarring when punch grafting thousands of FU's out of the side and back of your head. I can understand how their is no scarring or minimal scarring (temporary postop redness) with the planting the FU's using the lateral slit approach which is something similiar to a paper cuts, but the FUE is still very invasive, can cause alot of shock fallout, transection of remaining donor hairs issues, and is extremely expensive. But please don't tell me that FUE is not an invasive approach. If the strip excision is done correctly, the pencil thin scar is something one can live with. If and that's a big if they can perform the FUE with a PUNCH GRAFT less than say .8mm well maybe you may have something. But if the size of the punch grafts become too small, you run a greater risk of damaging or transecting the FU that you are removing. Maybe in the end some will choose using both methods where they get the meat of their transplant using strip and touchups using FUE. Just my opinion, TCK

  15. Here is the link: http://www.hair-restoration-info.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=5696015661&f=3466060861&m=7756002861 How I read this is as follows: 1. FUE is much worse way to proceed as if you wanted 3000 FU HT, you would have to have 3000 MICRO PUNCH GRAFTS On the sides of your head. What the HELL is that. Looks like torture to me. 2. FUE can result in greater risk of transection of remaining Donor Hairs. 3. FUE is MORE INVASIVE as more skin is penetrated. 4. Good FU HT doctors that use strips don't use the MULTIBLADED knives of the TORTURE CHAMBER HAIR MILLS OF THE PAST. 5. LEAVE JOTRONIC THE HELL ALONE!!! He has done a whole lot more for me and and many others than most other posters. 6. FUE using 1mm punch grafts still can leave you looking like you were dumped upside down in a chicken pen and had a buch of hens peck at you. 7. If a strip width of 1 cm is not exceeded and a patient waits atleast 1 year between procedures, assuming that they have normal scalp laxity and no preexisting conditions and can follow postop rules correctly, the chances of a pencil like scar are highly probable in my view. Just my opinion, TCK
