  1. I must say. This one does really appear to be the real deal. I'll bet it's more like 5-10 years before we actually see anything with acceptable results on the market though. Lot's of unanswered questions too. How would they regenerate a hairline? Is hair growth direction the same as surrounding hairs. I wonder if it would create growth in a scar? Only time will tell.
  2. Hi Janna, Perfectly said! It would be rare for anyone to want to pay 4 doctors to place grafts :-) let alone finding 4 doctors that would want to do it. I am very curious as to how newbie techs are trained in graft disection and placement. Who's head do they do their first graft placements on? Are there any types of training tools, animal cadavers :-O or what. If it's on a patient are they informed about the training going on. It seems like an aware patient would notice. I've also always wondered how often accidents happen with the trays that the grafts are kept in until placement. Seems like it would be easy for someone to trip or fumble one of those trays and all those precious litte fellas in saline would be all over the ground :-( Thanks a
  3. NG2GB, I definitely knew you were being "tongue in cheek" with your what women want comment. My comment was just being sarcastic, hence the . I'll have to make it more obvious next time :-). I'd say you have a very good balance of serious/sarcastic @sshole ratio. Especially after you've thrown down some vino or the amber nectar. Looks like you've been slacking on your # of posts lately and you might be in jepordy of losing your title this month to Thana. Anyone ever see that "Pick Up Artist" show on VH1 last year. Here's a guy who supposedly has all the lines, tricks, techniques etc, to picking up women. In my opinion that guy came across as the biggest DONKEY eee ooor ever. I could care less how many women he can pick up because of his confidence, style bravado etc. I still wouldn't want to be "That Guy"
  4. MRJB you must still be in mourning from the Pats loss. I was really hoping the Pats would win and you'd have to post pics of your great HT :-). I'm also one who's never told a soul that I've had an HT. Never did it while in a relationship though. That would be difficult I imagine.
  5. Thanks! Very Intelligent, insightful post HLBD. I must admit. I originally started to read your post after you first posted it. After reading the first paragraph I was getting a little bored and I saw how long it was and decided to move on. I think I was either having A.D.D. or it may have been because I had too much to drink and it was late :-). Most likely the second. We'll I have now read the whole thing and BRAVO! Very well done. From your post you sound much wiser than your years (which I estimate to be about 27-28). NG2GB I'm really intruiged about what made you think HL HT knowledge/wisdom would translate to what women want . Doesn't seem like HT forums would be the best place crack that code :-). Most of us on an HT forum will say women want "Hair" (on ur head, not on back!) I've seen those Mexico wold/dog boys. Amazing! I remember one the Wolf Boys was even married and his wife was pretty hot. Now that's someone we should ask for advise on women :-) From your post, I'd say you've gone above and beyond doing your homework and have already completed your thesis. Sounds like you're an awsome candidate for HT and Dr. Rahal will post another fantastic result. Why wait any longer? NG2GB wants to see another amazing result so he can chop you up an kill you :-) (see past post)
  6. I'm glad to hear you've had positive expeiences with your piece. I tend to fall into the mindset that I can always pick out someone wearing a hair piece/system. I'm probably wrong and maybe it's similar to HT's where the only ones you notice are the bad ones. Lot's of great DR's and don't be afraid to travel for a good Dr. Here's some to start looking into. These are in no particalar order. Just what come to mind right now from what I've seen. Hasson & Wong - Vancouver B.C Dr. Shapiro - MN Dr. Alexander - AZ Dr. Feller - NY Dr. Gabel - OR Dr. Rahal - Canada Many more you'll find here as well. On thing to think about. If HCM is only willing to work with you on your hair piece if you get an HT with them then there is something "SERIOUSLY" wrong with their ethics and they are only looking to line their own pockets. If they can work around the piece with their own HT then they can do so with any other HT doc. Just make sure you ask the GOOD HT docs about this during your consult. I'm sure they'll want you to NOT wear the piece for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.
  7. Hi JD09, Lot's of good feedback here posted by the other members. Definitely get on propecia/finasteride and rogaine/minoxodil to help keep what you have. Everyone here knows what you're going through whether younger or older it's still the same feeling when you first experience hair loss. At 21 I first noticed my own hair loss (little recession at the temples) and it seemed quite devastating at the time. Unfortunately this was really pre internet (1991) days and I bared the burden of going it alone. I even went so far as to get a consult with Bosley and Thank God as unethical as they seem to be even those money grubbing bastard turned me down at the time because they felt my hair loss was not bad enough and that I was too young. If I look back at pictures of me at 21 now I think "What the Hell was I thinking" because I had a shitload of hair and I was probably the only one who REALLY noticed the loss. If you can post some good pictures of your Melon (ok to conceal your identity by photoshopping your face out) and the members here will really be able to give you some much much more informed advice. As you get a little older if your hair loss is progressive and you finally make an informed well planned decision to move forward with an HT then you should also feel some comfort in knowing that HT's should only improve and who knows what's around the corner as far as science and hair loss are concerned. Now go out and enjoy your youth :-)
  8. Hi Spitfire (I prefer the P51 Mustang :-), Congrats on your HT and no doubt your result should look incredible after the time warp of waiting 4-9 months. Sorry to hear about your relationship. WOW! You must have been a wreck having to deal with that right before your HT. If you really know for sure she's the one (soulmate) then hopefully you'll get her back. You may even want to open up to her about the whole hair loss, hair transplant deal. I know harder said than done, but if she's really the one it's something to consider. Trying to keep an HT private when your in a serious relationship would be very difficult, especially with having to shave down. I wonder if subconciously you played a major part in the pre HT breakup other than just the long work hours? If not luck in getting her back then good luck fighting off the the new ladies this summer :-) Cheers Mate!
  9. Hi Rambler, Interesting thread. From looking at your pictures you do look like you have a pretty decent head of hair and I do agree that 3500 may be a little high depending on your goals. I do think H&W is one of the best and most ethical HT centers in the world and with 3500 you would probably be an HT posterboy with almost perfect density (which you may not want). I'm sure they would also be happy to do less as long as both side were in agreement of your expectations. A question I have for you is are you OK with buzzing your recipient area down for the HT? Which, I would imagine HW would require with 3500 grafts. I know buzzing down creates a perfect work envorinment for the Dr. & Techs but unless you have the ability to hide under a hat for a while buzzing down seems to create a very akward 2 months after the HT (IMO). With your existing hair it appears like you would be a perfect candidate to have excellent results with an HT of about 2000-2500 without buzzing down which would allow your existing hair to conceal the HT and you'de be back to your pre HT life much sooner without noticible results of the HT. I'm not sure If H&W will do an HT without buzzing down but I know Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Alexander do as long as graft counts are below 3000. Hope this doesn't add any confusion to your existing questions but something to think about. Also, great to see someone actively doing their homework like you are.
  10. While we don't ever know exactly what the future holds, the ones here who actually think about the long run are already on the right track. None of us know what our future holds but based on our own loss and looking at family you'll usually have a decent idea of your worse case scenario. And obviously with propecia/rogaine you can usually slow the worse case scenario. I'd love to hear from someone in their 60's whos had a recent transplant about their feeling on how a positive image of themselves compares at that age as opposed to 40. I know at 38 I still have just about the same desire to look good as I did when I was 22. Hi BeHappy. I've checked our your story. Sounds like you've been through alot and my heart goes out to you. I would imagine that you would much prefer if you could go just go back in time and never have started the ht procedures and lived life with a buzzed melon correct? Do you ever plan on having a correction procedure. Best of luck to you!
  11. From looking at this picture your Crown and Right temple appear to have grown very fast and have filled in nicely He probably just did some early shedding for you. My new hairs didn't fall out till about 35 days or so. I was hoping I was special and that they'd just keep growing. Some did hang around but most took a vacation. You'll probably be seeing most of your new pelos fall out in the next couple weeks. Then time comes to a stand still and 1 month feels like a year
  12. Wow London! Looks good short but you definitely need to grow it out , hide the scar and go big with all the hair ur gonna have. Almost makes me want to do some serious scalp stretching exercises and and start some # of graft record. I'm thinking I could get 18,000 if I insert one of those skin streching balloons in me head :-)
  13. Hi Agio, I'd have to agree with most here. The immediate post op photos do look like nice refined work and the 1 week photos appear odd. Hopefully it's just very early shedding of the newly implanted grafts as Bill mentioned and you'll be lookin good in 6 months time.
  14. Very Nice! Excellent clean looking work here. I'm sure you're going to be a very happy man in 6 months. I'm curious as to your existing forlock/strip of frontal hair. From the post op pics it's pretty clear that the good Dr. did not place any grafts in this area. Was this because he felt pretty confident that this existing hair was most likely not goint to recede further?
  15. That's a sad story BeHappy :-(. I think this girl you were speaking of was WAY to open with you about her feelings of how ugly she felt you were. DAYUM! Even to go so far as to say if you were married she woulda thought your wife was a monster who couldn't get anything else. That's just straight up rude and insensitive to be that open. Please don't tell me you're still with this girl! I think everyone here would agee with you Janna! There are so many different variables in attraction and how we meet significant others. Those variable also change throughout the life of a relationship. And there's no question that looking good an feeling good about yourself helps with many of these variables.
  16. That's awesome Mrjb. You'll have to keep us updated on any questions that come your way. From what I remember you were a NW5. Were you actually completely NW5 and filled it all in with the 3 ht's or was this something where you gradually kept up with the loss? I would imagine it makes a big different as to how drastic the change was. I would have to believe your fellow thinning coworkers would even more acutely aware of the change then non balding since most of us have some sorta hair envy at some level. NG2GB. One thing you get a very good sense of from reading many of the different topics on this site about how hair loss has affected people is that just about all of us share many of the same issues of confidence (or lack therof) at some level. Having said that there are so many different personalities amongst us all and I think the level that it affects each of us and how we deal with it varies greatly. You see some people where it seems like the end of the world and others where its more like just a big pain in the ass. For me personally it's been more of the big pain in my ass or you could say somewhat of an anchor . With respects to women I have always been a little shy (even with all my pelos) but I've always gone out (way too much actually) had fun met beautiful girls (long term girlfriends and short term) and participated. As my hair has receded and thinned more I've noticed I've become more of a spectator and less of a participant. I'd love to give some info on how the post HT has affected me but right now it's still more of the same while I'm waiting. While I am still a little nervous, hopeful and excited about how good the results will turn out, I do have a good feeling that I'll be coming off the injured reserved list and getting back in the game. Rolling up the anchor and opening up the sails. Maybe it'll be like Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption where he finally get's out of jail and decides to break his parol and go meet his buddy in "Sewatenaou" or however the hell it's spelled :-) Time usually fly's but this post HT time seems to have slowed time in anticipation of waiting. I'll keep you posted. On another note. I met my mom at a restaraunt tonight (like a good son). While there she told me she was cleaning out the workroom at her house and came across some pictures of me when I was like 21. She tells me "I forgot how much damn hair you had" (which I did). She has no clue about the HT (no one does), and I told her "I know huh! Hopefully I'll get some of it back since I started taking propecia recently". In about another 4 months I'll bet her and others will think that propecia is pretty incredible :-).
  17. From these pics that really is a excelent result with only 2000 grafts. Damn, just think Thana, you with your 3k and my 2739. We're lible to have too much hair :-). I'm not sure how donar density vs graft counts works but my donar density was 120 cm. Doc said that was pretty high. Hopefully I'll have so much damn hair I'll just put tons of gel in it an replace my motorcyle helmet with a hair helmet.
  18. It really depends on alot of things. Do you have existing native hair? Are shaving the recipient area? Do you heal well? etc. etc.. I was back at work in 5 days and nobody noticed. Everyones different though. Here's a link to some picture of my mellon at the office 5 days later. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=149492 I'd be interested in hearing how patients who have shaved down and have the donar scar completely noticable handle questions about it.
  19. Damn. I shoulda had me some of that vino you're havin tonight. From you're posts here that seems like some good shit :-)
  20. Congrats on quitting for 5 days :-). Let's keep it up for life now. So what the F*%& . You were worried about taking a little propecia pill but you were smoking a couple packs a day. I'm pretty sure heavy smokers have one of the highest rates of impotence around :-). Also, aren't you a little young to be a wine connoisseur. I thought you had to be atleast 30 to be a wino. No go have some beer or a Jack & Coke since it's Friday. My dad was a heavy smoker and had a stroke and passed at 52. He smoke those Lucky Strike non filters then moved to the Red pack once they stopped making Lucky Strikes. I'll smoke like 3 hits of a cigarette once in a great while when I'm loaded and I start spinning like mutha fr.
  21. Hey NG2GB, I take it this is this the guy you were already on the way to chop up and bury http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=144540 I sure hope you'll want to add me to that list 7 months down the road. Until then I guess I'm still safe. Just think Thana, after you come out of deep freeze in 8 months your Pomp will be looking so good NG2GB will want to take you straight from the freezer to the woodchipper.
  22. Looks Great Thana, So have you virtually been alive for 2 decades or actually :-). I take it you're 20 years old then? It's pretty awesome that you have such refined HT options at such a young age. 20 years ago the options were pretty much SHIT. I'm sure these 3000 grafts are going to look incredible and with propecia/rogaine you'll most likely be able to stem the tide of additional loss. And imagine what solutions they'll have in 10-20 more years if you do have additional loss. Pretty cool that you have hair gowth to look forward to rather than hair loss. Best of luck!
  23. Thanks for sharing your pics Josh. You're loss isn't too bad but nothing wrong with filling it in some to achieve your desired results. It's all a personal preference as to what is right for each individual as long as they've done their research and the Dr performing the procedure is ETHICAL/Qualified and is looking out for the best interest of the patient and not just their wallet. Most NW5+'s would die to be a natural NW3 and can't imagine them getting an HT and so on up the NW line. I think we all have this type of "if I only had one more" type of mentality. I also definitely agree with Balody that some people have somewhat of a distorted hair image similar to Huge roided out mucles heads and anorexics where they never think enough is enough. Here's an example of someone I think 99.999% of the people would agree shouldn't get an HT yet he still went in for a shit load of grafts. Here's my damn, if I only had his hair moment :-) http://www.hairlosshelp.com/websites/galleryview.cfm?id...sOfHair|gallery1.cfm As an NW3 with decent hair I'd imagine your feeling is that this guy should never even think about getting an HT. I imagine that's probably what alot of NW6's would feel about looking at your pics. Best of luck to you! I also agree with NG2GB that the NW charts kinda suck.
  24. Damn! It's 1:50 and I'm bored from spending the last 5 hours looking in the mirror watching my newly transplanted hairs from 12/5/07 not pop out of my cabeza. I want to be there for the birth of my newly purchased babies :-). So here's my 2 cents on this thread. I've frequented both sites for about 5 months now and I am DEFINITELY drawn to this site because I find that Bill and most of the posters here are intelligent, educated, thoughtful, sometimes funny and truly are here in the best interest to educate themselves and help educate others. The other site (which I'm also glad is there) seems to contain posts that aren't quite as insightful, educational and many time are downright stupid. If I were to use an analogy between these two websites and two colleges it would be as follows. I would consider this site like Stanford and the other site like UCSD (San Diego). At Stanford you'll be recieving a very high level of education and intelligent, motivated students will gravitate there and help with your higher education, but they might not always be as fun to go party with. At UCSD you'll still be able to get a good education but not on the level of Stanford. You may however have more fun partying with lot's of hangovers. I didn't feel like getting too into detail on the post from the thread discussed but on one point Farrel had, I would agree that bashing a patient multiple times who's put themselves out there and posted pictures of their results is not cool. Constructive and thoughtful critisism of the results should be provided. As for this site, I appreciate Pat and Bill work and I think that they provid a great HT forum, but I also think you have MUCH MUCH more potential from both a hair transplant community education and business aspect while still providing an unbiased recommendation for only top HT doctors who have proven themselves and earned the right to be recommended. I say this as a succesful Internet entrepreneur. Unless Pat is independently wealthy and just wants to run this site out of the goodness of his heart he has every right to make a living and have a thriving business here while still providing a forum to help educate people about HT. I don't know the full business model details but I don't suspect Pat's getting rich from the fees the Coalition Docs do pay. Keep up the good work all! "Goodnight and Good luck"
  25. Good luck tomorrow t_a. Even though you're not supposed to drink I highly doubt a couple of scorps will cause any issues. All that crispy duck probably soaked it right up. Sounds like NG2GB has been to some of those HAPPY ENDING massagiiiiiiii parlors :-). Pretty cool that you have a good close relationship with your parents since mom came along for the trip. Just make sure she's not doing your laundry at 30 :-). I've never told a soul (not girlfriends nor family) and I suspect it may be a skeleton I take to my grave. Sometimes I wonder if it would be liberating to share with close ones but naaaah I prefer the dirty little secret. Anywhooo. Look forward to seeing some great results for you 3+ months down the road. No miagi do karate for a while cuz rubbin some dermatch on the sparring partners gui is one thing but shedding on them is quite another.
