  1. Yes, a real dilemma except my HT was soooo good, I doubt it will ever be the reason I am without a woman . I am not a young man (65) but since my HT been told I look 50, so being alone will be my choice. My Doc is one of the top Docs mentioned and highlighted in this post !
  2. I had my HT about 7 months ago and went on 1mg Finasteride at my Docs recommendation. At first I thought the side effects were just my imagination, and I wanted the hair more that a few extra jollies anyway. After 4-5 months I could no longer deny the effects as you described. Lower libido, decreases and watery semen, and less enjoyment. I stopped taking it about a month ago and do sense those things coming back, not fully yet, but definitely improved. I agree that everyone needs to weigh what's most important to them, but don't kid yourself into thinking there are no side effects.
  3. Great question. Been on this site for probably 10 years. Always wanted to take the leap and have an HT but never did it. Well, this year at the age of 60, had my first HT and am so glad I did. Figured if not now then when ? I'm planning on a second one next year sometime (after my initial HT has a year to mature) and can't wait to have it done. I look far younger than my years and fully expect when it grows in I'll look even younger. We never stop wanting to look our best.
  4. Shera, I see you mention the no shave technique for FUE. Can you suggest any surgeons in the US who offer this procedure. Thanks
  5. I am planning my first and possibly last (I'm 60) HT which I strongly want to do through FUE. I understand there are several surgeons who offer the advantage of not shaving your head to accomplish this. Obviously it is a huge advantage when going back to work concerns are an issue. Can anyone recommend a US based surgeon who offers this procedure. Also please advise if I have been given incorrect information on this. Thanks
  6. Has anyone heard of, or had experience with a suppossedly new technique called Neo Graft ? It appears to basically be an FUE procedure using a new extraction device with vacuum and then immediate implant into the receptor area. Was recently spotlighted on a Philadelphia news cast and the results looked fairly good at a resonable cost ($6,000-$8000). Thanks
  7. Hey bro, thanks so much for the reply and valuable information. I decided, based on your comments, that staying the extra night in the hotel following the procedure is the way to go. Thanks for pointing that out. I kind of thought those staples were going to be a real pain in the neck (or head in this case) but I guess there are no options if you want to go with Doc Feller. Keep us posted on your progress and I will do my best to post pics and a summary after my long awaited day ! Stay well.
  8. Getting my first HT in about 2 weeks (strip) and a bit nervous about how careful I need to be with protecting the recipient area post-op. Specifically, I wanted to know how soon after the procedure can one where a baseball hat and not have to worry about damaging the new implants ? I know this has been addressed before so I apologize for the forgetfullness, but I just can't seem to find the information right now. Thanks
  9. jacksbeard, Congrats on your HT. I am most interested in your comments as I am scheduled for my first HT with Dr. Feller in about 3 weeks. I was wondering if staying in a hotel the night of the surgery is the way to go. I live in Eastern PA about 2 hours from the office. My thoughts were that it would probably be more comfortable to be home the night of the procedure, but you have me thinking maybe it's best to stay in a hotel. Did you really need the vicoden just after post-op and how uncomfortable was it driving home? I will most likely hit the peak of rush hour just as you did. Do you think sleeping that first night in a hotel is the way to go. Thanks for your help.
  10. Someone asked about Revita ? I have been using it for about 2 months now. I am scheduled for my first HT late in June and wanted to get ready for post-op shampoo, so chose Revita. I can say that it smells really great, seems very mild on hair and scalp (no itching or dryness) and lathers nicely. It claims to thicken hair as its used. I can't say for sure it does that just yet, but, I do think my hair appears fuller and feels thicker after using it (probably just power of suggestion). All in all, I amvery happy with the stuff and will continue to use it post HT.
  11. Very compassionate and accurate response Panama. I feel for Chris, but you're right, he needs his head in a much better place before contemplating HT. Tbhis forum is truly a place of brothers with common issues and common concerns. I'm glad to be a small part of it.
  12. I'm having my first (and hopefully only) HT in late June with Doc Feller. I'm curious as to how much sun protection (hat) I should plan and for how long. My concern is balancing the need for the hat with the need to be really careful with the just inplanted grafts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks much Bill. I appreciate your response and all the help provided on this forum. I feel the help and guidance offered on this forum is the best and most sincere I have ever found on any "help based" internet forum. Keep up the great work !
  14. I am considering an initial consult with Dr. True among several other HT Doc's and was wondering if anyone has used Dr. True and roughly what he charges per graft ? Are you happy with the results ? Thanks
  15. Perhaps you are right B Spot. I've reviewed Dr. Shapiros website, reviews, and photos and his work seems exceptional. Must have been related to a different Shapiro. My apologies for the confusion. I would lean towards Dr. F only because he is an hour away. Not that I wouldn't fly across country if that was my best option, however, I feel that he is as good as any, from my knowledge at this point. Can anyone disagree ?
  16. Thanks S.H. I have thinning on the crown and receding of the hairline, but would consider my loss fairly minimal as compared to some I have seen on here. I believe it was classed as a Norwood 3. I am 55 and fortunately appear younger (45-50). I have heard good and some marginal comments on Shapiro but all good on Feller.
  17. Hey guys, I'm brand new here so please excuse me if I ask something rehashed a thousand times. To me this is all a brand new journey. After much internet searching, reading your posts and seeing results (on the computer screen only) I think I've narrowed down the 2 Doc's I would use for a FUT to Dr. Feller or Dr. True. Does anyone have any experience with either and/or any bad experiences with either. My impression is they are both as good as there is. Am I correct ? Thanks
