  2. @Melvin- Admin Hi Melvin. thanks for the collage. It really does put things into perspective. I went hair loss for many years and then had to deal with fibres, laces, hair systems and finally I can safely say I am done with all of that. I sincerely hope the lurkers and members on this forum do their due diligence and research before they commit to a particular hair surgeon. Btw I am not on propecia and never have been. I'm using minoxidil once a day by spraying 8 pumps onto my scalp and massaging it. I'm also taking multivitamin and biotin daily. and once every few days I use a shampoo/conditioner. I'm planning to colour my hair in the near future. but will only do so with a good salon with safe practices and who knows how to work on my hair without damaging the roots and scalp.

  3. @rsb Dr Laorwong was the one who proposed the FUE + FUT combo. I can upload multiple pictures of my head from all angles. End of the day, no two cases are the same. You should seek guidance from your surgeon. If he says with conviction that you are a suitable candidate for FUE + FUT then I don't see why you should disagree with him. As for his staff shortages, I wouldn't know anything about it. During my HT a year ago, I had a team of nurses working on me and being around me. What was supposed to be a 2 day session turned out to be a singular 15 hour session with 2 breaks in between for me to consume my meals.

I wanted to meet up with Dr Laorwong last month so that he could see my hair situation in person and seek advice from him on what to expect in the coming years etc. I hope to visit him later this year. Preparation is indeed key.

  4. @general-etwan you're right when you said you donor hair isn't think. that is indeed the starting point. Multiple transplants are not going to solve the actual problem. I think that you should look at volumising shampoo and conditioner. As long as you have near-full head coverage then all you have to do is create more volume in your hair to make it thick and luscious.

do visit my thread if you have the time.

all good man. no surprises been a year since my HT with Dr Kongkiat Laorwong. I haven't been using minoxidil diligently as per the instructions so i've gone back to that.

Wonderful transformation . Does Dr kongkiat do FUE only too ? Do you think with FUE similar result can be achieved ? My concern will be the FUT scar in case if someone wants to fade his hair.

I don't think anybody on this forum including patients of Dr Kongkiat Laorwong can give you a definitive answer. What you should be doing is taking pics of your head from all angles and sending it to him with a complete set of numbered questions. That's what I did and he appreciated the fact that I did that. You need to understand this is not akin to chatting up a girl online where you pose a question to her and then wait for her to reply and this cycle repeats till goodness knows when. Dr Laorwong is a busy man.

I previously had the frankenstein scar around the back of my scalp. My scar has since faded. I only found out after I went for a haircut and the barber did a high slope for me.

I imagine so, many of the journeys posted on here aren't by surgeons on the forums recommended list.

The more good surgeons we are aware of the better.

There are many good surgeons in Thailand. Most of them have been trained by Dr Path. When I started my research in 2012/2013, Dr Path was my first choice but his rates were too high. I then chanced upon Dr Suradej Pong and he was my firm choice for many years. But I always had difficulty accepting the hairline and results of the bulk of his patients. It simply wasn't the look that I was looking for. I then looked at Europe, Pakistan, Korea, Malaysia, India (the usual clinics mentioned here), US (Dr D****) but nothing really caught my eye in terms of the final results of the work done on the patients.

Finally I came across Dr Kongkiat Laowrong's work online and then started reading up more on his patient testimonials. Several factors came into play such as the layout of his website, pics of his works, patient testimonials on his site and other information elsewhere online and of course the cost. What cemented Dr Laorwong as my firm choice was a combination of the manner in which he replied to all my queries in great detail + he didn't rush me to make a decision + he said i was a good candidate.

I used topical minoxidil for about 1.5 years but never saw an improvement in my crown. Used oral for about 5 months before stopping and only noticed like stray hairs on my back get thicker. Still have about 120 tablets left from when I bought them from Laorwong. Want to have them? 😄

the frankenstein scar at the back of my scap has recovered and has disappeared.

does the owner of this forum allow us to post names of doctors that don't have the usual regonition by some hair board even though they're trained by Dr Path and all churning out equally good results of their patients' HTs?

thanks. Eversince I posted my pic update + the moderator's image combining skills, my thread has gone real quiet. Anyways since 2014,  I've been -on and off- emailing Dr Path and most of his trainees who have gone on to start their own clinics. I was most comfortable with Dr Kongkiat hence I went with him. I never had any doubt in Dr Kongkiat's abilities. It really is a pity that many of Dr Path's trainees are not mentioned here with the exception of Dr Pong and Dr Kongkiat.

been meaning to ask you this for many months but never got around to doing it. As a pharmacy owner do you have any qualifications in pharmacy? Are you aware that one can only apply up to 8 sprays of minoxidil onto the scalp and anything more is bad? If you knew about this why didn't you mention this anywhere in the forum?

Spot on. You clearly have an analytical mind on this matter.

The hairline height depends on the rest of your face, so I won't give judgement on that. But the rest looks fantastic.

I'm sure Dr. Laorwong could - if you decide to get further hairline work - also transplant some hair into the scar. That would allow you to get some tighter hairstyles in the future.

Maybe this isn't an issue for you, but I'd recommend using the minoxidil in the evenings. That way your hair looks better throughout the day.

yes i'll ask Dr Laorwong about the feasibility of transplanting hair onto the scar. I tried applying minoxidil twice a day as recommended. Once in the morning and night but I started having headaches. So im only applying it in the mornings.

Yes, IMHO that’s viable donor that will grow, but the real issue is, “will it be visually compatible?”

You raised this point which is a very good one in @A_4_Archan thread which went unanswered as usual and I'm reproducing it here cos it's relevant. I've always thought about this on and off for about 10 years now and I agree with you on this. For example the hair on my top and sides were straight and the back hair is wavy. Now after the HT, I have completely wavy hair if its dry and/or if I don't apply wax or gel on it. So I think that this is another consideration that one should have although not a very important one (as long as hair grows after the HT and one has a full head of hair) when wanting to do a HT

  10. Im unsure why but even though I provide present-day pics there will always be a few who persistently ask for pics of the scar across the back of the head. That Frankenstein scar will never go away. It will remain with me till the end.

I'm really glad I chose Absolute Hair and Dr Kongkiat. I could easily have gone to Turkey, USA or India but I hesitated because I wasn't impressed with the final results of many of the other doctors. My only concern is that I think my hairline is about 1 cm too high. I'll be returning to Thailand in the new year so will see if Dr Kongkiat agrees with me.

I use Minoxidil once every morning and spray it on my scalp the maximum 8 times allowed. I then massage my scalp for about 5 minutes. At night I take biotin and Omega 3. I've only been using T-gel shampoo but would want to start using a regular shampoo and conditioner soon. The problem is I do not know which one is suitable for me so that I don't jeopardise my hair situation.

it's healed and since the hair at the back has grown out I cannot tell you whether the scar has diappeared or still there. honestly im not worried about the scar cos my hair at the back will always be longer than 1cm so that will cover the scar very nicely.

I read this article and it talks about football players who have done transplants. I really like the work done on this player.

You are free to share anything...no one is baned like that without any reasons...as far as finasteride goes ,its not that evryone gets side effects ..normally people can tolerate it so you can try it ...and if it doesn't suits you than you can stop it anytime..it won't cause any permanent side effects as such...but still if you don't want to take it than i guess minoxidil solution and biotin tablets would be fine...even you can consider oral minoxidil which has shown better results after consulting your surgeon ....right now you are at ugly duckling phase ..bt soon you will start seeing baby hairs which will start getting fuller and thicker after 4 months and your growth phase will start from that till 14-18 months...

Minoxidil will help you to thicken you hair which will make an illusion of increased density.

But its not going to stop the hairfall caused by DHT. That can only be done with finasteride.

Biotin tablet which you have mentioned previously, even that just helps in hair health but doesnt stop hair loss.

So you need finasteride if you want to save your existing hair. In case you are happy with just transplanted hair then fine dont take finasteride. But the density will be less with you losing existing hair.

3 mg per week is surely a good approach for oral intake and does help with hair loss. And if you are worried so much about sides then take topical version. It works great for many people who got sides from oral version and are unable to take it. The systematic affect according to studies is less.

A solution which contains minoxidil 5% with finasteride 0.1% w/v will be easily available in market. Buy it once you consult with your surgeon.

i consulted with a specialist in my home country. he told me to take finasteride and minoxide and that biotin is useless. im seeing him again in a few months. for minoxidil i have to spray it twice day and each time no more than 8 pumps. i then have to massage it into the scalp.

  14. Hi everyone. I've passed the 3 month mark and I'm not on any finasteride or minoxidil. I emailed Dr Kongkiat and he told me to get on finasteride at 1mg a day and minoxidil 5%. I've since got it from the pharmacy but am afraid of taking finasteride due to the known side effects such as libido, brain fog, loss of sensitivity in the genital area, reduced erections etc. I've been reading some scientific based papers, reading online articles and of course watching youtube videos. Problem is I don't know what I can or can't share on this forum lest the stuff I post gets deleted or worse I get permanently banned from the forum. The thing that I often sees get repeated is to take 1 mg (one pill) of finasteride once every 3 days and not exceed 3gm a week due to the often citized  Can I get away with just applying minoxidil twice a day on my scalp and not take finasteride altogether? attached are my pics from a few days ago at the 3 months mark. need advice on what I should do. thank you all.

How is the healing of your donor area now? Do you still have pain in the FUT scar area?

As you can see from the pics the donor area has healed. There is still some pain in the FUT scar area and I feel it whenever my nephews and nieces pat the back of my head when I carry them. Previously I would have pain in the scar area when I slept face-up on the pillow. It's 2 month since the transplant so I have long way to go before I see the full results.

  17. hi all. its been 2 months since the transplant with Dr Kongkiat. I'm not on propecia or minoxidil. Only taking biotin. i'm also attaching the pamplet I received from the clinic and it contains good information. I also came across a link from during my research days the past few years. 18. @AlexMeister21 Thank you for taking the time and effort to list the AirBnb spots. I sincerely appreciate it. My thing with Bnb is about the safety and security. For example if the place is even legitimately owned by the person who's posting the ad, are hidden cameras in the unit, will anyone come in with a spare key when I'm out and about etc. i'm keen to hear your thoughts and that of others too on Bnb. thanks.

    How is the healing going?

Thanks for asking. the scabs fell off completely few days after i got back home. I must admit I did pick on them a couple of times but stopped soon after because I was afraid I might rip out those tiny graft buggers at the same time! The tightness at the back of the scalp disappeared 2 weeks later. The shedding took place and there are sprouts in the middle of my scalp. Some of them are long but the rest are like buzzcut in length. The scar has disappeared but I'll get my sibling to check for me thoroughly when he takes the pics of my head either later today or over the weekend which I'll post on this forum soon. From time to time, I do experience aches around the scar area.  I did experience sharp pains from underneath the scar. Maybe someone can shed light on whether the sharp pain is because the wound underneath the skin layers hasn't healed yet althought the scar on the outer layer has healed? It still hurts when I sleep on my head and sides so believe it or not I either sleep on my stomach or when I'm seated on the comfy sofa settee.

I don't think much about the hair etc because I'm pretty packed with work, upcoming exams etc. I figured no point mulling or overthinking about the hair transplant but to wait till end of the year before I make contact with Dr Kongkiat on whether I need a second procedure. I've also started taking Natrol Biotin.

I stayed at AIM House Bangkok for 10 nights and as I mentioned before, the only problem I had was with the mosquitoes in the lobby and adjourning seating area. Everything else was great.

If you can, please find out the price for the minoxidil, biotin tablets and any other medication that will be prescribed to you. Do post pics of the products front and back as well so we can discuss about the ingredients in the products. I don't see any discussion of this nature on this forum or elsewhere and i think we need to shine some light on this because the post recovery of the transplant is important. What we take to improve hair growth etc is a vital point that is often overlooked.

Will Biotin be the only vitamin you will be buying to help improve your hair or did he recommend any others?

With Dr Kongkiat's assurance, I will only be taking Biotin but I regret not buying it from his clinic because the other Biotin brands elsewhere online such as iHerb have nowhere near the number of ingredients that Dr Kongkiat's clinic bottle has. I checked with the receptionist and they said they can send it to me via DHL but I know it's going to be very costly. So I'm currently in talks with 3 forwarders to collect the Biotin from Dr Kongkiat's clinic and send it to me in my home country which will be much cheaper and I can use the savings by not using DHL to purchase a year's supply until I return to his clinic ins January 2024 either for a second touch-up or just a holiday or both. So if either of you do go ahead to do your transplant with Dr Kongkiat, you might wanna just purchase the medication from his clinic directly if he prescribes them to you.

Thank you for the write up. I had a call with him early this morning about a very similar plan, FUT + FUE combination. I'm trying to make a final decision between him and Dr Path.

My main concern has been about communication ability in English, as that is all I speak. From what I'm reading here on the forum he is quieter and doesn't say so much which is OK, but do you think we understands and can take feedback well? Particularly interested around hairline design etc.

He does have an aura about him. He listens attentively to what you have to say and he will answer your questions in a precise way. He speaks very good English. I was also worried about my hairline design but he factored in my age as well as my face shape and I went along with his suggestion. If you can, send him your pictures when you had a full head of hair and till your hair started falling till recently so this way he can have a better idea and then perhaps factor in your age and then when you meet him for the consultation, you can discuss on how high or low you want the hairline to be. I told him i wanted it to be as natural as possible because having a straight hairline would never work for me given my faceshape, age and the fact that i've never ever had a straight hairline in my life.

I suggest if you do meet him for the consultation in person, to have a prepared set of questions to ask him. I did exactly that and I sent the questions to myself on whatsapp. So when I spoked with him, I referred to my phone and I managed to clear all my doubts without wasting his time or giving him the impression that I had come unprepared.

    9 hours ago, AlexMeister21 said:

His English is pretty good and he should be able to understand what you're communicating. Also takes a good amount of time assessing your scalp and hair situation.

Yes. it can be quite nerve-wrecking because when i met him i was shocked that he went straight into the discussion and nothing else. he will have you seated infront of a mirror and he will stand in between you and the mirror and then draw the hairline as well as the different sections for the planting of grafts and make some markings. and then he will let you have a look into the mirror and then you can give him your input and take things from there.
