  1. Definite seasonal shed going on here. It suuuuuuucks.
  2. Hey, welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your shock loss. You'll find that it really all depends. Who did the surgery, where were the grafts placed, into an area of existing hair? Chances are really good the hair will return, if that's your concern. As far as when it will return, I can't say. You should do a search, but I'm sure Bill will be here soon enough to help you out.
  3. Trebor, I think you are as lucky as can be given your situation. From the picture, it appears like you didn't even get an HT. Now, I know that's really not the point, but considering what could have happened, you should consider yourself fortunate.
  4. If I remember from my first HT, about two weeks after I just took some peroxide (I think!), and rubbed all the grafts and crud off.
  5. It wasn't directed at you at all. It's my sig, directed more at people who come here bitter and just want to make others feel like they do. I appreciate honesty completely, and yours was heartfelt and sincere. Sorry if you were offended.
  6. Dewayne, I sent you a PM. You should really check it out.
  7. I just read another post of yours, you didn't indicate that you were using Rogaine as well. Rogaine more often than not (from my research) makes more people lose hair than gain it. That's the first thing I would stop. I still suggest a visit to a physician.
  8. Hey man, I think you know the answer to this. Stop the Propecia. At the very best, it's not helping your hair loss. There is NO other reason whatsoever to take the drug, so if it's not helping in that regard you should stop it. What you should do is go to your doctor and get a series of blood tests done to see if there is anything else going on.
  9. I feel like I've heard it all, but today I was told about something that I've never heard discussed. My mom is a hairdresser, and a customer of hers that comes in is about 20 years old, and is showing signs of mpb. He has always had thin hair and is now receding. So he went to the dermatologist (a highly respected one by the way), and she gave him some injections that she told him have a chance helping him in his battle against hair loss. What could this possibly be? Some sort of steroid? I've never heard of this being done, but it's definitely intriguing. I might have to make an appointment and investigate myself.

  11. I've been in the hair loss game (obsession) for about 7 years now, and I have never once, in all of my time, found anyone who has truly benefited from Rogaine. That is, no one whom I know or who would provide pictures at least. In fact, most of the people I've come across have all lost hair on Rogaine, whether or not they stuck through the "shedding phase" (ugh). Anyone here?

  13. Yeah buddy, they are both "concealers", in that they conceal or hide... whatever it is you're trying to hide. The difference between them is pretty great though. Dermatch is kind of a powder that you apply almost like you were applying make up (it even comes in a make up case). It takes some getting used, the application process is just that... a process. As for Toppik, the idea of it is much simpler, but I'm not sure it's as effective as Dermatch is by someone who mastered it. It's definitely easier though, I don't think anyone will deny that. For the scar area though, I'd go with Dermatch.
  14. If you're interested. I think it looks pretty good. Actually, even though it's undeniable longer than my old scar, I think this surgery acted as both an HT and a scar revision. We'll see in a few months I guess.
  15. I can't show you data, but I can tell you personally that Propecia stopped working for meeventually. I started in March 2003 and it worked great until about January of 2008 when it pretty much stopped working. I realize that it was probably still having somewhat of an effect, but I had to face reality and for me that meant it wasn't worth the $$$ or the hassle anymore. I've since thinned substantially, however I'm quite sure this was going to happen anyway.
  16. From my experience urdaddy, you have to buy them online. I used dermatch for a bit, I found it pulled my hairs pretty hard, and felt uncomfortable about that. But the guys on here seem to do much better with it than me. As far as a "bald spot", Toppik is the way to go... but it is pricey.
  17. 9 days in and I still find dried blood in my hair and on my donor. Clearly that shouldn't be the case, correct? And I'm supposed to get them removed tomorrow, which I guess won't be happening.

  19. Hey guys, I got a little better with the styling today, it didn't look as ridiculous. I pretty much just air dried and left the house. DDD03, just got the photos from Spex. Like I say in the blog, those are really not a great indicator, I will try to find some pictures that show my hairline for what it really is. Tofueornottofu (ah, I just got it. Haha). Thanks for the words of encouragement. Let me tell you, if it is a scar length you fear, than I will not make you feel any better. I was very surprised when I felt the staples, but my scar is full on ear to ear. There goes shaving the dome in the future I guess. As for the numbers, the Doc did 1200 1's and I had about 125-150 extra that he placed for free, which was cool. So I assume those were doubles. It's hard (impossible) to tell by looking though, so I'm really not sure. I think that's what you're asking. Hope that helps a little.
  20. Thanks Bill, I've been taking three 1,000 mg capsules at once everyday around 3, I guess I'll just start taking one in the morning, one mid day and one at night.
  21. Five days out of my transplant, feeling a bit better, went to work, and oh... came home took a shower, combed my hair, and lost about 500 hairs. Nice.

  23. Yep, been taking 3,000 mg a day since Thursday. Hope it works, I could use the coverage.
