  1. it is true i am using rogaine but i only started using rogaine about 4 5 months ago and i think it is actually helping my hair, probably because it keeps hair in anagen longer. its almost impossible to get an appointment with the dermatologist in my town cause he is the only one but ill try to get one in the next few months thanks a lot
  2. im currently 18 years old going on 19. I started losing hair probably around 15 but very slowly. Although my hair was thin by junior year it wasnt that noticeable and i could easily keep my hair long. The summer before senior year my hair started to thin more noticeable especially in the temples and some thinning in the front of my scalp. I went to the doctor and got a script for propecia in the fall in hopes of stopping my hairloss. I shed very badly for the first few month and my frontal portion of my hair became super thin. In early spring my mid scalp area began to shed and become noticeably thin, although not quite as bad as the frontal portion. Now after well over a year of taking it with my hairloss only getting significantly worse areas that havnt been thinning at all, crown and forelock, are beginning to shed. When my hair sheds it doesnt seem to come back as it should. Granted the hair that comes back is thick but a significant amount of shed hair does not seem to be coming back. My hair is much worse than it was when i started propecia so my question is should i stop taking it? maybe stop for a few months and see if it helps? i know that propecia shouldnt cause hairloss but is it possible it is causing my hair to shed more than normal? i believe i shed much more than a normal person, well over 100 a day. Basically everytime i run my hand through my head 6 to 12 hairs atleast come out and i mean if i do it within like 10 minutes the same amount comes out.

  4. hey thanks for the response i have a few pictures that might help better asses my situation http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4727/ldd9247d90a318eaecb7dddbp1.jpg this is my hair about 13 or 14 months ago so i was seventeen i am now eighteen http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9541/ldbac5b2bea052b3610cb40pl5.jpg this is another from around then you can see the recession better but its not major and my hair isnt super thin that side recession is worse btw http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6734/photo1yu3.jpg this is today my hair has thinned out quite a bit and receded a little more especially on the left temple but my vertex is fairly intact http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6072/photo2yn2.jpg here is another pic from today under less intense lighting and and a lower angle which makes the thinning harder to tell but under normal lighting it is visable. also im only about 5'7 or 5'8 so its not like many people see me from the angle lol Like i said i have been on propecia for a little over a year when my dermatologist told me to get on it. Also about 3 or 4 months ago i started using rogaine foam day and night maybe two months ago i started using revita, and t gel as well as started taking biotin, lysine, msm, fish oil, and a one a day so we will see how that regime works out but nothing spectacular so far. So my question i guess is should i just give up on propecia? i would be a little nervous about getting off of it cause i dont want to lose hair but it doesnt seem to be very effective unless you guys think it could still help? is there anything else you would recommend to try? Also does that seem like fast loss? that only took about 6 months to get to that point after i started propecia
  5. is it possible that propecia made my hair shed and never return? i started propecia about about 13/14 months ago. My hair was thinning and receding a little but it wasnt that noticable unless my hair was wet. I got on propecia and within the next 6 months by hair got considerably thinner all over besides the crown to the point of being very noticable wet or not. Isnt that a bit fast for normal mpb? is it possible that i got a propecia shed but it never grew back in? Could i still expect it to grow back in or is it pretty much gone? i appreciate any responses
  6. how well does toppik hold up with sweat. i dont mean like playin sports but just if it was hot and you were sweatin or had to walk a lot in the heat. and also does wearin a hat mess toppik up at all?
  7. recently i have been using tgel before revita a couple times a week thinking it might clear out the sebum letting the revita sink in more what do you guys think?
  8. is there any evidence using more than 5 percent or using minox more than twice a day is helpful in growing more hair?

  10. hey thanks for your quick response. im definitely gonna stay on the Big 3 and hope to atleast stabilize but obviously regrowth, even minimal is my main goal. I sometimes wish my crown was the problem though as hairloss in that area doesnt really seem as unattractive to me as well as more easily treatable, although who knows what i would think if i were in that situation. That i know my dads hair went starting at the vertex but i dont know about my mothers side so that is most likely where my hairloss pattern is coming from. Since being back on rogaine for about two or three months i have noticed a lot of shedding of vellus hair and what feels like some new hairs sprouting. I've experienced this before however and my hair hasnt really gotten any better so its hard to tell if those shedding hairs will come back healthier or are just gone now. Any other help would be greatly appreciated thank you
  11. hi to give a little back story im eighteen years old about to start college and my hair is both receding a little bit probably like between and n1 and n2 but it is also thinning really bad all over the top in a diffuse manner. I have been taking propecia for almost a year now and is hasn't really seemed to help very much, although my crown is fairly intact and maybe it could be responsible for what ive kept but that isnt very much. My hair has probably been thinning a little since i was about 16 or 17 but it has only been noticeable in the last year and especially recently. If my hair is under any kind of light it is noticeably very thin. I started using rogaine extra strength foam a little more than a year ago but stopped for awhile cause it didn't seem to help much and didn't like how it made my hair look, also reading how it only works for the crown on the package is a little disconcerting. I have used it off and on since then but i am back to using it on a regular basis cause im hoping it might help now and my hair is shorter now so it doesn't really effect how it looks, if anything it makes it look a little fuller. I've also started using revita shampoo lately after reading about it here and have been taking biotin fairly regularly for awhile. I've recently added new things to my routine such as drinking a lot of water taking a good multi vitamin, lysine- which i have used in the past for cold sores, omega 3 fish oil, and msm and have started rotating my shampoos including revita t gel and a biotin shampoo but i might switch that with vive for men or something like that. Ive always known i was gonna lose my hair as literally every male in my family has been completely bald as long as i can remember, even my sisters hair is very thin, but i never expected it to happen this soon or so quick, basically taking out the whole top of my skull at once. It still seems like i have a good amount of hair but it is mostly very thin and colorless so you can see right through to the scalp, the fact my hair has turned from blonde to brown in the past year doesnt help this either. Obviously going in to college like this is far from optimal and im really hoping there is something i can do to get some of my hair back atleast for the first few years of my college experience. Im obviously to young for surgery and dont think i would ever want to have that done anyway especially with the promise of better treatments in the next few years. Do you guys have any suggestions? I know most of you think everything else is snakeoil besides minox fin and keto but could things like saw palmetto or other supplements help? Also would u suggest i talk to my dermatologist about possibly switching to avodart? Ive never had any sexual side effects with propecia, if anything my sex drive has increased. Id really appreciate any feedback. Having this problem so young isnt fun and im getting tired of having to wear hats everywhere haha thanks ps srry my post was so long and if pictures would help ill try to take some
