how to easily manage the "ugly duckling" phase?
NickJ replied to Yan bio's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Tell yourself that it's only gonna get better from here -
Thanks Rahal. Yeah it did take me a good 3,5 months to see constant improvement. On a daily basis you don't see that much of an evolution but when you check the difference between the first pictures and those I posted today a lot happened in a 1month (and a bit) Looking forward to September as the last 2 weeks is when I saw the most growth at that rate I guess my HT could go unnoticed by then. I basically use this post to keep people update and to reassure slow growers (as what is mostly posted on YT is fast growth). I even think some YTbers lie on the timeline of their growth

I don't think that you should think "the longer wait time the better". Clinics finding you a spot under a month on the other hand is a red flag

hair growth after transplant
NickJ replied to karatekid's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Had my HT done on march 22nd I would stay I really started seeing growth around july 10th-15th So except if you are a early grower you still have a month too go to really notice growth. When you reach HT + 4 month it starts to get noticed by everyone and grows faster and faster -
Am I balding at 15?
NickJ replied to thebullyeagle's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Well in Belgium my experience (and some of my friends) was that you already need to have a visible hair-loss before getting it prescribed to you. You couldn't get it preventively. So most people have to wait until they're 20-21 to finally get it. Which besides extremely aggressive cases of hair-loss is not a bad thing IMO as some male end puberty later (19/20 years old) -

I think any sound Dr. will reject the idea of giving Finasteride to a 15 year old. I know a lot of doctors even refuse to give it at 18-19 and would rather wait until 21-22 -
Dr Cinik's DHI transplant?

It's one of the best hairmills , but it stays a hairmill -
Finasteride 1.25mg every day - Too much?
NickJ replied to Borsisto's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
0,5 mg every day never had any problems Some studies show that 0,2 mg every day does already a good part of the job. If you are over 40-45 I would go with that dosage -
As other have said the crown will be a concern for him in less than 5 years. I'm pretty sure he looked handsome when he had a lot of hair at 19-20 and wanted to go back to that as hairloss can make you lose "points" of attractiveness . When you go from the most attractive guy around to just ok it's pretty hard to accept An other things to consider is that hair-mills sometimes use more grafts than announced

I noticed my hair becoming blonder and thinner at 16-17 so it's possible that if you have a history of alopecia in the family that it starts pretty early I had the chance that with me it was pretty slow (people really started noticing when I was 24-25) but I had 2 or 3 friends who had to shave their whole head around 20-21 because they had no density anymore -
4 months + 5 days update: Hey guys, Definitely growing now, in the evening when it's a little darker outside it's starting to look good Positives: Day to day not impressive but when I look at 3-4 days backwards there is a real difference. If it keeps growing like the last 10 days I could have a really good result in September already (around the 6 month mark) Negatives: Still holes with no hair (especially on the right side of the hairline) Hair is still pretty thin under the sun or harsh lightning you can see through it (even though it's better than a few weeks ago on that aspect too) Pretty uneven growth some implanted hair are really long, other just popped the last few days. I'm gonna get my hair shorter when my barber comes back from holidays ( in 10 days) If you have questions shoot

4 months update: Good news, last week was the week I saw the most growth ! It's starting to fill in even on the right-side of the hairline People were right looking back on this 3rd month there was quite a bit of progress between the start and the end of the month Postives: Daily improvements (people notice a visual change now) Negatives: Under the light it's still thin and hard to notice a change in pictures

Day 115 update: Approaching the 4 month mark after the HT, and nothing spectacular. I'm definitely not the fastest grower but when I check every 2 days I see small improvements It's also the feedback I get from people around me "oh your hair did grow a little, it's nice" but nothing spectacular like on some others

Hey Guys, Day 105 update Went to the barber to have a shorter haircut and see the hair grow better. Little daily improvement nothing impressive still, a few thin hair pocking 2-3 every day but nothing noticeable from a distance. Hope seeing an "acceleration" of the growth in the 2 coming weeks because you can see more little black dots than previously

Day 97 Good news ! New hairs are starting to grow slowly (even a little on the hairline). I have seen a little improvement every day since the last post, no impressive growth but every day a few new hairs. Like @John1991 said they are very thin and not really noticeable with the iPhone camera yet. And yes the hairs in the corners are implanted hairs that resisted the shedding phase and are getting thicker. My hair is also getting thicker again in general, the aspect changed a little bit due to shock loss. Concerning the professional advice on my "growth" I also had a consultation with the person that took care of me during the procedure (not the surgeon) He reminded me that he told me that I should be expecting a pretty bad shock loss (which I indeed had) because I had sensitive skin (As you can see my skin is indeed still pretty red). Hair was also implanted close to the existing hair which raises the chance of shock loss. I waited until the 2,5 month to get back on minoxidil Next update later in the week. If you have questions do not hesitate. I will reveal the name of the surgeon once it starts looking good as I didn't wanted to have a negative impact.
