Easy walk yes but makehairgreatagain is right.  I only had a FUE and was advised not to walk that night (mainly because loopiness of the drugs) so not worth the risk with a FUT

For reference, I paid $70 per night @ Comfort Suites (no discount code used)

Its showing $140/night for me :D

Stock up on food from Pete's grocery store down the street and make sure you have some good ice packs ready to go!

Thanks. Did you get the ice packs from the grocery store or did the hotel had supply of ice? I do have a personal ice pack bag hence asking.

Did you use the discount code from the office? Fortunately there's no shortage of options around

Drs Helpdesk email says ask for discount at comfort suites. No discount code mentioned. Hotels.com and such listing it as pricy for my dates.

no mention of discount for Hilton.

    Thank you bro!

I have been on topical finasteride for about a year, and only recently switched to topical dutasteride. Right after my surgery, I did try oral finasteride 2x a week with no issues so bumped it to 3-4 and started experiencing depression so immediately discontinued and returned to topical solutions.

It’s hard to tell if I’m getting the same benefit as oral finasteride since I only used it for about 2 months. I have a PhD so I’m adept at reading research studies, and so what I can say is that the published studies looking at oral versus topical finasteride show comparable efficacy. In other words, topical finasteride appears to show similar effectiveness as oral finasteride. There are no studies to date on topical dutasteride, but in theory given it’s potent anti-androgen effects it should work just as well (if not better) than topical finasteride - although still unclear since they have different molecular weights and that may affect absorption.

In short, I’d continue speaking with Dr. Konior and listen to all his advice. He’s a clinician scientist - he’s published tons in this area - so he really is the expert :)

    Good luck!

    Thanks bro!

btw any issues with scalp tightness? I read online that FUT may cause scalp tightness in some cases. How’s that feeling when you turn your head side to side or when you drive and check the blind spot?

  5. Hello all,

I reached out to Dr Konior and H&W. Both said that I have diffused pattern hair loss and even after the surgery I would have to be on finasteride 1mg as further hair loss will happen most likely. Talking to my primary care doc, she said it does have long term side-effects like lower sperm count and in some cases, risk of prostrate cancer. I am on the fence on doing finasteride given these risks. What are your thoughts?

Would biotin, minoxidil not suffice? Are finasteride risks worth it?

I know that some of you are not on finasteride but rather minoxidil and Nizoral shampoo. Did you have diffused pattern hair loss?

If price is not an issue then you don't need a top 5 list. You need to contact Dr. Raymond Konior. You won't get a surgeon that is more genuinely interested in your long term goals then him. He is expensive but he delivers and his FUT scars are second to none from what I've seen. Chicago Hair Institute. Hasson or Gabel would be my second recommendations. Keep us posted on who you decide on.

    Thanks! Will do :)

I’ve done research for about 5 years - consulted with H&W office in Seattle back when Mike was the consultant (now replaced by Doug). Visited H&W during a business trip last year also. I used this site a lot, including talking with many previous patients of many doctors behind Hasson and Konior.

My case is I need an FUT mega session (4-5k grafts) to densely fill in a lost frontal third and restore a hairline, including a bit of temple work. Hasson is reputed to be the best at doing this. I consulted with Dr Konior when the border closed to explore my options and was surprised when he confirmed Hasson’s specialty of densely packing large mega sessions and he encouraged me to wait it out and stick with Hasson. Konior is top notch and very honest and ethical, but it was one more data point from an honest expert that Hasson was the right choice for me.

Another difference to consider between the two is Konior is more expensive and he does everything himself (minus assistance from key techs), which puts his waitlist at usually 1+ year out. Hasson has techs do a lot of the work outside of making the strip and the recipient slits - but those techs have all been there for a very long time and are proven professionals from what I’ve discovered.

It really all depends on your goals - either doctor will be world class, but Hasson seems the best for my situation and goals.

Things seem to look positive by summer (maybe) and fall (more likely) for border openings.

Thanks@FuriousGeorge! I truly appreciate your detailed explanation. How bad are the wait times to schedule with H&W?

  8. @SnowboardHey! Thanks for the recommendation of Dr Konior. After your mention I have been researching about him and noticing lots of positive feedback. Did you finally get your procedure done with Dr Konior?

    Hello Everyone,

In addition, I keep hearing about Hasson & Wong on this forum. Price is not a concern for me as I want the best result possible (its an investment for myself) but location wise I would prefer US & Canada due to international travel restrictions. I have gotten the Pfizer vaccine too.

Based on price not being an issue, what would be the top 5 doc list for FUT overall (minimal scarring, best density results) according to you?

If you’re in North Carolina definitely check out @Dr. Jerry Cooley he’s a member of our elite Coalition group.

@Melvin-Moderator I saw your posts about your hair loss journey and the imp info you provided about HT expectations. Thanks so much for that man!

I definitely considered Dr Cooley as he is way nearer to me than others but was not too convinced by the results on his website. I'll search for him at this site to double check. What is your take on Dr Cooley vs Dr Bloxham?

No for me it will be my 6th and hopefully final. My needs are specific (beard grafts)

For yourself though I would consider looking at a lot Norwood 6 results. Meant to ask, your age and if your on any meds ?

    Good luck @JohnAC71!

I am 35 and I am not on any meds like Finasteride etc. I did that briefly (~6 months) some 8 years ago when i first noticed thinning of hair but went off it as I would rather not interfere with natural hormones.

  11. Hello all,

I am new to this forum and looking for recommendations for both FUT and FUE surgeons in the US. I am on the east coast in North Carolina. I have consulted with Marc Dauer, M.D and Dr Baubac (alvi armani) so far. Both do FUE and are in Los Angeles. I was not too impressed with the results of Dr Marc Dauer, M.D and Dr Baubac's reviews are already bad on this website so I will pass on that.

Dr Blake Bloxham has some solid reviews on here for FUT but was curious if you guys had other suggestions as well.

I am attaching front and back view of my head. Most hair loss is in the upper frontal region. Back side (donor) has decent hair density still. Based on the hair loss amount though I am leaning towards a FUT rather than FUE so I can avoid over harvesting. What do you guys think?

    Cheers!
