  1. 12 month update

Hi guys I’m a bit late for the 12 months but it’s here, I’m not gonna sugar coat it the result is disappointing, with fibers it looks good without it looks bad lacks density, the shape of the hairline is good and like the design if all 2k grafts would’ve grown in then it would’ve been a home run for me It sucks that after a reading the forums so many years and babying the hair as it was growing resulted in this I took care of it all the time during the recovery but sometimes results don’t go the way you plan there are discussions with Dr M on correcting the result and adding the density it should’ve had and I respect the fact that I didn’t have to go to him about the result this forum was what he saw and he knew it wasn’t up to par and I can only respect the fact that he’s reached out to make it right.

anyways here are the pictures, the right side which was my weaker side to begin with is the weakest the left is a bit weak also in patches, with some hair fibers and cleverness of hairstyles I can get away with a great head of hair so much so that people compliment my hair

Total speculation but perhaps your olive skin tone exaggerates the whiteness of the extraction sites. Idk.

A #2 guard may or may not conceal the extraction sites or not. A #3 guard definitely should.

I would say start with a #2 and see what it looks like.

Agreed I just hope dr pitella trials go more mainstream so that donor scars are a thing of the past! I like getting fades and now it seems I can’t anymore unfortunately I think the contrast is high because others have been able to still get it and it’s not noticeable but mine are very noticeable

@Dillpickle123 perhaps you already know this, but SMP only lasts for a few years before it starts to fade, and also there is some maintenance as you have to protect the SMP area from getting sunburned so it doesnt fade out

I think the better solution is to merely change up your haircut so you don't have a 0 guard in the extraction sites

While your surgery outcome is not good, even if you had a 10/10 surgery, having a 0 guard shave over extraction sites will result in them being visible.

Agreed maybe 🤔 I’ll grow a mullet lol

  4. @mustang I did not have a limited budget I spent 10k on this procedure and signed that he could take more of needed this result is not acceptable and steps are being taken behind the scenes to correct it there should’ve been more density for nearly 2k grafts full stop I did not want to do this in 2 steps and am a bit hesitant to go back again I was looking for a full result the first time around there wasn’t a 2 stage plan but I also know things happen and at least he’s reached out and agreed this wasn’t a good result

you certainly did not get botched, but this really should have been a layup one and done case

No excuse for the really poor denity

its also bizarre to me that your 1500 grafts took 2 days to complete. I feel like almost any other doctor would have done that in 1 day...

I assume Dr. Mwamba goes super slow for some sort of perceived surgical benefit, but it clearly was not effective here.

Agreed when I got for the next top up I’m going to hope it’s only a day and also that he gets the grafts from higher

I feel sorry for your experience here. You went to a surgeon that is recommended on here and you didn't cheap out, and you still got this subpar result.

The density is really not good, considering how many grafts were used over a fairly small area. And the extraction pattern is also just bad given the small amount of grafts extracted.

If the extractions had been taken from a bit higher up you would be able to rock your fade without any visible scarring. Taking so many grafts from the nape was just poor planning for this case.

Hopefully you can find a good solution to all this.

I’m not as pessimistic as most everything happens for a reason I don’t feel botched the density isn’t where it should be but I’m already working with the doctor to make it right and find a solution I do agree that next time I would want my grafts pulled from higher on my donor if possible

Seems to be a higher % of average results than good results with Dr Mwamba these days. I personally wouldn't have him on the recommended list.

@Dillpickle123 have you reached out to any other surgeons to find out costs to get the result you need?

I would probably look at someone like Ferreira or Pinto. They do have fairly long wait times which could potentially give you enough time to save $.

No don’t have the budget for it right now and although I do agree that the wait times might coincide with when I want to do another surgery hair fibers will have to do for now

    Hello Mr D ,

Slow growth or poor growth can happen after a surgery .

One of my task is to follow the guidelines while assessing your case .

We have to find the cause of poor growth ;if we find why it didn't take , we can correct the shot .

See you soon for your follow up consultation .

Thank you for the response Dr M, I think I am just one of unlucky few that have <90% growth some of the grafts for some reason didn’t survive I did follow all guidelines I will be emailing you for a follow up to discuss this further thanks

Thank you, I appreciate the input - yep the plan is to wait for meds to do their thing! I have booked in for surgery with Dr Bicer in March 2024 - that gives 6/7 months for the meds to start taking effect.

Do you think I should wait longer or is that a reasonable time frame?

Honestly they said give it a year maybe add some propecia to it to make it faster
