    Hi mephesto

I appear to have had a touch of this in the last few weeks around month 10 mark ..you may have  experienced andragen desynchronisation..YouTube Eugenix and enter this term for a 7 min tutorial on it from Dr Arika..it sucks ..but most lost hair tends to come back ..

Thanks Zoomster, that was an interesting video. I hope it'll grow back, although I think it also mentioned getting about 80% fullness though right?

@Egy what do you think about @Zoomster's video?

  2. I had an FUE procedure done with a reputable doctor in the USA about a year ago.

The first 7ish months were fantastic as my hair looked full and grew in well.

However, over the last 3-4 months, it's has been falling out like crazy.

Anytime I run my fingers through my hair in the shower I get tons of strands on my hand.

My hair still looks way better than pre-transplant, but this is worrying me.

How do I know if this is my genetic hair loss versus transplanted hairs falling out?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Bill got all the way up to 10,000?!? Wow. That's spectacular. Did not realize he was that high. And yes, you are right, he still has a good FUE pass left in him.

But I agree completely: patients should not assume that they have this type of donor. Most people will be average and should remember that the donor is limited and needs to be utilized as wisely as possible.

Very good topic. I am sure this will help out a lot of members.

In general, how many more hairs can FUT + FUE yield versus just FUE?

I was told 6 months by my clinic. I went back after 5.5 months. I was told to go light. On the first day I did squats, 5x5, at 40kg then overhead press 25kg and deadlift 60kg and then parallel dips with just my bodyweight. No problem. The next day I went back and did 5x5 again: squats 42.5kg, chin ups, bench press 35kg and bent over row 35kg. My donor area ached quite a bit. I followed this adding 2.5kg to everything except 5kg for the deadlift each time I did the exercise. It has been two weeks and the bit of my incision/scar that was most tight was a little sore yesterday. Those are not even big weights.

Is that 6 months of no lifting at all?

My doc said I can be back in the gym after 3 weeks with light weights but that I had to be careful for 8 weeks.

    Mephesto,

Clinic recommendations vary wildly when it comes to working out post FUT. While I have my own opinions on this as well, I think the best advice is the one given specifically to you from the clinic. Follow it as closely as possible.

    Having said that ...

Most of the work-outs where people worry about stretching involve flexion of the neck or a lot of contraction from the large muscle groups which attach near or around the base of the skull -- namely the "traps" and the long spinous muscles. Exercises that will specifically flex the neck are activities like crunches; activities which may activate the muscles attached to base of the skull would be things like shoulder shrugs, trap lifts, possibly rows, and anything which may target those long spinous muscles (the "superman" position you see in a lot of work-out videos comes to mind).

I will ask Dr. Lindsey to comment here as well. He is both an FUT master and a big weight lifter!

Thanks Dr. Bloxham! I'm an avid gym goer so it would be awesome to know what kinds of exercises to do. I think other people would benefit greatly as well.

  6. What kind of workouts can we do after having FUT?

I know the general consensus is to avoid heavy weights for about 1-2 months, but what about before then?

What specific exercises can we do to stay in shape? For example: definitely not bench presses, but what about barbell curls?

How old are you? I’m 28 and was tempted to thicken up my crown but Konior talked me out of it

There’s a decent chance you won’t be fully satisfied with 1500 grafts, though Nadimi seems to get excellent mileage out of that graft count

I'm the same age! 28 as well. Interesting, we both were advised not to work on the crown.

Were you told to wait and observe the crown because of your age? What did Konior say on it?

Tough call. If you’re going for 3000+ grafts HnW might have an edge because they’ve done so many good megasessions. Both are great with hairline work and scars.

I would do what Melvin suggests, talk to both and see if the differing surgical plans push you one way or the other.

Thanks Recession. Mine would be 3000+ for crown + hairline or 2000ish for just hairline.

Dr. Nadimi suggested focusing on the hairline instead of the crown and uses only 1,500 grafts. She seems to be the most conservative of the doctors so far and was also the only doctor to speak to me without a rep. I'm just worried that 1500 grafts will leave me disappointed and wanting another procedure rather quickly after that one.

  9. Hey guys, I'm currently in the decision stages for my first FUT

I'm trying to decide on these two clinics.

    Advantages of Cooley

    • Excellent strip scar
    • Great results
    • Is there every step of the way (extraction, incision, etc).
    • Techs have been working with him for over a decade

    Advantages of Hasson and Wong:

    • Tons of great results from previous patients (more than Cooley)
    • Well known innovators
    • Do both FUT and FUE and have no preference between either

    Who do you guys recommend?

Not sure how old you are but keep in mind he is in his 70s I believe so his hair has likely stabilized and meds aren’t required. Younger guys will more than likely need to continue and use treatments to try and stabilize their native hair

Ah, I didn't realize that -- good point. I'm 29 so I have more hair loss to look forward to (even with medication)

#1.  I had my first transplant in 2011 so only 8 years, but I am totally pleased.

#2. I had FUT for my first transplant and I wear my hair long so that was never a problem.

#3. FUT because of the horrible haircut needed for FUE

#4. I think my hairloss has pretty much stopped and I never used any potions.

    #5. No Medication

2nd Transplant 09/10/2018 and doing great.  Now I am going for the Moses look including the beard. LOL

Thank you! It's refreshing to see positive results after so many years

  12. Hi,

I'm not sure how many HT users there are after such a long time, but I had some questions into the long term implications of an HT.

    My questions:

    1. Are you happy with the transplant after all these years?
    2. Are you comfortable with the scar?
    3. With the current options, would you have started with FUE or FUT/FUSS?
    4. Has your hair continued to recede? If so, are you doing anything to combat it (another HT, medication, etc)?
    5. Are you still on medication (propecia, minox, etc)?

    Thank you
