Depends what your goals/priorities are. For me, if I have to actually spend approx $100 a mth for the rest of my life I'd just spend money on a ht or let nature run its course. But everyone is different and just my 2 cents

Also $100/month * 12 is only $1200 yearly. Over the course of 10 years that’s 12,000. Your hair transplant with Hasson was probably around 9000. And without prevention assuming you keep thinning you’d need multiple surgeries of 1000 grafts to keep chasing the thinning so it would be more cost effective in the long run + option of also doing a transplant for ever more hair maximization

I used to think about just chasing a continuously receding hairline and diffuse thinning by just doing hair transplants but you only have finite donor supply and at some point it’s not enough and prevention is necessary to prevent ever having the look of “going bald”.Plus, every hair transplant you gotta look kinda crappy for another 6 months again. And if not preventing, you get to enjoy it for about a year before you start looking thinner again because of hair loss progression. So im all about prevention now too

Did you do a testosterone test prior as well?

I just started with my first application on Monday. I'm gonna apply every Monday and Friday in the am and then I will shower in the afternoon before my kid comes back from school. I'm pretty paranoid about the cross contamination.

I put a full pump in a small container and tbh it's more than enough for an entire scalp. A small dab covers a good amount of surface area due to the gel like solution. I literally used 1/10 of a pump on the areas that are thinning so the bottle will last me a LONG time.

Be careful with this i asked xyon and they said when they did product testing that it maintains potency for 6 months. Meaning the potency would go down after 6 months for one bottle meaning the most you could stretch it out is applying every other day. Extending beyond this would mean any applications after 6 months on the same bottle would be less effective

Thanks for the advice. Laorwong seems very strong, I'll review his patient submitted cases more carefully if I want to go back in for a second pass.

I really don't care about the swelling. I imagine it would be much better with a revision as it would be just a few grafts hopefully. Alot of the edema isn't actually "inflammation" it's literally fluid from the lidocaine used for anesthesia. Esteban may have used more with me because I kept feeling the extractions. The amount of lidocaine would presumably be much less the second time around.

My main annoyance/reason for hesitation at going back is the whole not being able to use hair dye afterwards. Some people say wait 1 month, other people say wait 12 months, no one really knows the answer. I've waited this time till 6 months though probably will dye it around month 8. It's just hard to convince myself to go through another procedure with the possibility that I may not get a significant improvements and so much of my life was disrupted by the restrictions afterwards. Also second passes seem to be less consistently successful than virgin scalps, at least from looking at the cases here.

Either way, pretty disappointed with my left side as it seems to have plateaued. Other cases like mine that level off around 6 months don't really seem to get much better. Every case I've found here that looks like mine from months 4-6 just kind of stays there.

If there's a miracle, great, but I don't think anythings going to change at this point.

Whatever. I did my best and went to a surgeon that seemed to have a decent track record, ultimately can't control what I can't control. That's just life.

This was my third hair transplant and it was by far the best yield when compared to my other prior surgeries. It was done by dr wrong. I started dying my hair at 6 months. Although it might have been sooner actually I can’t remember. Taking a hit of not dying hair for 6 months is easily worth the trade off you get at the end. Also just take those 6 months and work on the gym a ton. Kill multiple birds with one stone self improvement monk-mode for awhile then come back leveled up. I’m going back to wrong to improve density in my hairline and corners and crown again. Smaller surgery this time though but will totally be worth it

Your crown is definitely thicker, the dut is working well 🙏

Yeah I had 300 grafts placed in there as well but yeah it should be helping. Gonna try to get my compliance up to 80+% over the year before next November and we are gonna help reinforce some of my problem areas

300 bucks a month!! ....... wow ....... I thought I read that one pump of the topical fin typically reduces systemic dht by 30 percent. So, would 3 pumps potentially lead to a 90 percent reduction (20 percent more than 1 mg oral finasteride)?

AIso, is there any evidence at this point to substantiate the idea that either of the xyon topicals are more effective than their oral counterparts at reducing scalp dht?

It’s probably not linear like that. I would guess each additional pump would have a smaller and smaller additional decrease in dht, but it could be the opposite and be a larger decrease in dht each additional pump. Also the bottle is 390 for the dutasteride version.

I only use one pump and use dab it throughout the scalp on parted hair in different sections. Wong said it diffuses under the skin when it absorbs, so application doesn’t need to be perfect

I'm on the topical fin. One bottle lasts 3 months at one pump per day. I can't get anywhere close to covering my entire scalp with one pump. Three pumps would be more like it, however, then I would be tripling the cost and potentially tripling the the amount of the drug that goes systemic. So, if you're using three pumps per day you would go through a bottle per month??? No sides using  3 pumps?

Lol yeah that would come out to 1 month per bottle

It looks like Xyon is adding minoxidil to its topical medication, the topical Finasteride now has a minoxidil combo. Does anyone plan on using a topical Dutasteride/Minoxidil combination from Xyon?

I asked them to add it to their product offering duasteride minoxidil combo if they do it for finasteride it only makes sense and the rep said they took my feedback but for now I just use their dut and old fashioned minoxidil dropper I really like the dropper

There's a huge difference in those photos Derek, I know you want more, but this surgery was clearly a success!

What's your total graft count now?

Yea I agree and I am happy with the progress made with this one. Just some more reinforcement in the hairline and corners and some in the mid scalp and then in crown will really help a lot with my last concerns next November with wong again.

I believe in total around 9500 grafts. However for the first 7400 of them the yields were fairly low so many of them were wasted. This surgery had the least amount of grafts and yet I notice the biggest difference

So what does this mean, the Xyon topical Finasteride is more effective than dut?

No what he is saying is it would imply the systemic decrease in dht is actually larger than what they claim because they measured it too early and didn’t give it enough time to stabilize at its lower level before measuring the ending decrease in systemic dht and that it actually takes longer than 1 month but more like 3-4 months to reach its lowest systemic level that it stabilizes at

Why do you apply less than daily?

    Have you gotten any results?

I want to apply daily but I usually put it on at night time before bed and it takes me like 10 minutes and it also messes my hair up when I rub it on my scalp cuz I have to pull my hair apart and it just looks kinda silly or less than ideal when I put it on and a lot of times I end up being too tired to put it on or I am going out somewhere and don’t want my hair to look kinda stupid. But yeah I need to fix this habit so I can get the compliance higher. I think it has been helping though but hard to really tell

I started Xyon's Dutasteride mid May 2023. Got blood work in July, Sep and November. In July DHT went down 30%, then in Sep and Nov went down 40% both times. This means that somewhere between August and Sept it reached steady state. So, it seems it takes between 3 and 4 months to reach steady state. In Xyon's clinical trails they say it reaches steady state at 30 days and that's when they did the serum DHT testing for the 10 subjects. My point is that when they found that 10% average drop in DHT for those 10 subjects, the medication probably hadn't reached steady state.

That could explain why it takes longer for Top Dutasteride than Top Finasteride (which reaches steady state way sooner) to start working. Also, why they found a low drop of only 10% in their patients. If they would have tested their blood DHT at months 3 and 4, the dropped in serum DHT would probably had been higher than 10%

Just wanted to share that with you guys. The good thing is that I already reached steady state and haven't had any side effects.

It'd be interesting, for those of you that are using Xyon's Dut, to test your serum DHT levels.

That’s interesting too late for me now I’ve  been talking xyon 50% of days since February

i think xyons claim is that it decrease systemic absorption. i dont think it can prevent 100% absorption into the blood stream.

whether is actually decreases absorption and the average percentage  is up to debate until theres an actual study non biased study.

I think forum remember Mauricio recently posted that his serum DHT dropped 40%( i believe )while on xyon dut, so clearly there is some absorption, and that a almost a 50% reduction in DHT.

i think its out individual sensitivity to decreases in DHT that determine our sensitivity to these drugs.

And if we have to go my anecdotal evidence, the only two forum users being side effect free and having success with xyon who come to my mind at this moment,  is  Melvin  who is having success in terms of regrowth on xyon, and Mauricio who says he is having stabilization.

Well I haven’t had any issues with side effects that I am aware of. My compliance is probably like 50% though
