it’s as simple as this.

finasteride regrew a shit ton of hair for me. it was sincerely life changing.

i don’t really subscribe to the topical solutions whether they be topical fin or topical minoxidil. in my experience topical minoxidil didn’t do anything. it’s just simply not feasible to get the foam in contact with your ACTUAL scalp where it makes contact with your skin and penetrates in an amount that would actually amount to anything. in my opinion it got mostly on my pre-existing hair and just made it crusty from the dried foam.

now if you are working with a pretty bald head, you can be sure the foam is getting to your skin and penetrates

do you notice any visual difference when not in bathroom lighting? can it pass for acceptable?

my guess is Dr. Bloxham based off FUT frontal band. and the bandage looks vert similar to how mine was. I know that’s a dumb piece to compare but it does look very similar to my bandage and my hairline design.

i’m currently at 5 months for what it’s worth from Dr. Bloxham. I am still early but definitely in a similar situation as you. really hoping it improves.

9.5 months is a bit late in the process but I suppose it is possible it will improve. some say give it 1.5 years

Just gonna bump this... I really tried hard not to vent in my own thread so here I am. this waiting shit is so hard. I've seen some growth in regards to the weak side of my hairline but nowhere near a knock out result like some people post at 5 months. I haven't really noticed any density increases yet as well.

I just keep thinking "other people see significant growth months 5-8, so will you. its coming"

I see mention of "Robotic FUE" in his photos section. you want to stay away from robotic FUE.

regular FUE and FUT are what you should be looking for. I was in a similar situation as you, and I eventually went up to Dr. Bloxham in NY. It was worth it. Dr. Bloxham also has an office in Philly now. I would suggest you consult with him and link when he's in Philly next.

is it possible to get a picture of you with a comb holding up your hair by the scar to compare it to one of your original pictures where it shows it at its worst?

I'm coming up on 5months with Bloxham. still waiting on the recipient site to pick up, but the donor/scar healed well.

yea when staples come out it’s a huge relief. i used a neck pillow and slept upright for almost 2 months. might’ve been overkill, but it wasn’t terrible 

buddy... get used to that discomfort in your donor/incision line. you’re in for a good couple of months minimum until that goes away. i’m 4.5 months in and mines still not normal. I’d say 80% normal. it’s gonna suck for the first 2-3 months

SMP should be in every FUT patient's back pocket for this exact reason.

Thanks. That first picture definitely sells it a bit. pretty forgiving lighting, but I am pretty happy thus far. cant wait till it really pops! You can see in the last picture its still pretty see-through and that has always been my bad hairline side. It's all good though... only 4.5 months

Month 4 pictures I didn't take much since I was disappointed with my scar and scared to look. Also there was not much growth.

These pictures below are now exactly 18 weeks. If you are going by the calculation of 4 weeks in a month, I am at 4.5 months. If you are going by calendar days, I had my surgery on November 4th, so March 4th would've been 4 months.

It's not the best haircut I've ever gotten, but I recently moved so I am now trying to find a new place and this is my first cut with a barber in COVID times. Also I am used to going lower on the sides, which always makes it seems cleaner and nicer. I definitely plan to go lower next time.

The sparkly phone case is my fiancé's since she has a newer iPhone. Had to get that out there lol

I got my first official haircut last night. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

Told the barber I recently got a hair transplant a couple months ago and I have a scar from ear to ear. I ran my finger from side to side to give him an idea of where it is. He also took his comb and looked at it. I told him I usually would get a #2 fade, but for him to go conservative this time around.

He said he tapered the bottom at a #3, up to a "low 5" around the incision, and then at the top, above the scar, a #6 thinned out with scissors. I am really happy with how it looks and its a huge relief as I was a little worried about the size of my scar when I looked at it back in February.

He said next time tell him to use a #4, so I'll probably move each clipper guard down 1 number and see how that looks. However, if I can't get away with anything lower than what he used this time I will be okay with that. It's the tradeoff of FUT. I just need to find the sweet spot.

My recipient is still thin, but I keep reminding myself its only 4.5 months (18 weeks). My native hair is back so theres not much change to pre-op. However my hairline is starting to have a line to it.

yeah the amount of grafts, the number of multi grafts, and your pre existing hair and texture... this is a homerun in the making
