  1. Fingers....Im sure in six monthsyou will be looking awesome. You went to one of the top drs. and with the amount of graphs and the hair you had behind them you should have a great head of hair! Hopefully the proscar wil help you keep the rest!
  2. 16....would like to know which Drs. you used and if you plan on having any repairs done? Also a little more details on your situation.
  3. I was only in a pain right after the surgury and thats the only time I needed the pain killers. The donor region was uncofortable for a few days after but each day got easier. I went and bought one of the U shaped travel pillows from the drug store and that really helped me to sleep! Best Wishes!
  4. "Everyone recommends that you should take the drugs, I say stay away from them. Ask yourself this question, Am I prepared to use these drugs everyday for potentially the rest of my life? Thats a hard pill to swallow! Literally! There are possible really nasty side effects. I experienced some really scary sides on propecis & minnox. Your not ready for a HT yet IMO. Stick with what you have for now, it looks fine @ your age." Atomic, I understand your where you come from when you say stay away from finasteride because you were one of the very unlucky people that did have sides from the drug. I am sorry to hear about your side effects! but you oviously tried them at one point because you wanted to try and stop hair loss. also I'm assuming these sides went away when you stopped taking the drugs? It's too bad your body's sensitive to meds. but in my opinion you are a rare case, think about the thousands and thousands who are not even on this site who are doing fine on the drug. I wonder why tell others not to even try propecia and give it a shot? also I think most people who are on here are willing to swallow that for the rest of thier life to save thier hair....I know I am and think you would be too if you were not one of the unlucky people who get bad sides.
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by "ultra refined folliculr extraction only applies to FUE?". I believe ultra refined refers to both fue and fut methods. Ultra refined meaning they can seperate follicles and place graphs in single follicular units...one hair at a time to give a very natural hair line and also refined by how clean and safe todays hts are with very limited recovery time.
  6. Gump, was wondering which dr. you chose to go with. Also you might try and get the dr. to prescribe generic proscar....it could save you lots of cash!
  7. Disappionted, All the Drs. listed are on my top Dr. list and all have produced some very good results that you can find right here on this website. I obviously chose Dr. Paul Shapiro which you tell by my blog. I just wanted to let you know that the Shapiro Medical Group is located in Minnesota. I believe i ran across another Dr. named Shapiro that was in Florida and had some very negative feed back! Good Luck with whatever you decide!
  8. mane, congratulations on an amazing transformation. your hair density looks very thick even when grown out long which is probaly a good indication of the desity Dr. Rahal was able to achieve. Imho I think it would look even thicker with a shorter hair stlye...either way your hair looks great!
  9. Sparse, thats good to hear about the scar! I'm lucky that my hair is very thick also in the donor. As for me I started to work out at the 2 week mark very lightly. I'm at 3 weeks now and feel no tension at all so I have been doing some lifting....about 75% of what I normaly would do. Dr. Shapiro said I would be ok and to use common sens....if I felt any tension to back off. I really looking forward to getting back to my routine!
  10. aaron, looking good and I'm sure looks even better in person! I'm looking forward to your 6 month updates...you should be even thicker!
  11. looks great! was wondering if you are using any meds?
  12. j.j....did you use the same Dr. all three times? you have many detailed pictures....do you have any pictures of the 3rd surgury graph placement?
  13. Definitely give propecia a try....there have been many success stories on here and if you research you will see that any side effects you might get will go away if you stop taking the drug. Also if money is an issue try to visit with one of the recommended Drs. from this site....they may be able to prescribe generic proscar and save you some money. They also can give you some insight about your hair loss and what is possible for your future! best of luck!
  14. HughShaw, maybe you could take a pic and send it to the Dr. to see if it is indeed graphs your losing or just hairs. I would definitely try my very best not to pick at any thing at all! Not only because of the fear of losing graphs but the possible scarring!
  15. great result with a dramatic improvemnt. especially since he needed to cover much of the crown! the hair style looks very good also!
  16. andy, I believe advodart is strong and could be something to try if the propecia loses some efficiency. So far I dont recall seeing any case were advodart has helped anyone in hair line more than propecia....it seems advodart has the same limitations as propecia in with the hair line.
  17. I believe they have thier pricing on the website. I think I was quoted around $4.00 per graph for the first 2000 graphs.....keep in ming that was about 2 years ago when I was in the intial stages of deciding on a Dr.
  18. Sparse, Your hair looks amazing and you had incredible growth at the three month mark.....I can only hope I'm that lucky! I was wondering how your scar was doing it looks really good in your early pics...was wondering if you had any stretching. Also did you have any tension or did your work out during the early stages of your HT? Anyway congratulations on your awesome transformation!
  19. ScottishGuy.....your hair is really starting to come in I am looking forward to your 5 month pics!
  20. lostandgone....was wondering how your surgury went??? i hope everything went well. i know you were in great hands.
  21. Bleach, I believe Dr. Ron charges $4.50 and you can get Dr. Paul Shapiro for $4.00 if you have to travel. I was able to book Dr. Paul for $4.00 and I think it was about 2 months out to get an appointment. Imho either doc is great and had a very good experience.....definitely was worth the travel, I drove from St. Louis! I was there on Jan. 4th.
  22. worried, why do think the finasteride caused the loss you do have already? your hair reminds me of mine when i first started losing. i believe fina is why i still have mine.
  23. Shiny, one other thing I wanted to share with you is that your hair resembles mine so much! I was 28 years old and started to feak out! I got on minox right away! Still freakn out I went to one of those highy TV advertised clinics. I don't remember how many graph thier reps. wanted me to have but I remeber leaving and saying I have to really think about this! My temples would recede a little farther and i would freak out all over again. But then after i would style my hair againg and get used to it.This went on for years until I could'nt hide it any longer...about 12 years from the first time I noticed any loss. BTW I was on propecia since 2003 I believe that is the only reason i was able to wait so long and also have the type of hair to allow the doctor to feel safe with dense packing my hair line. Just food for thought on how I delt with my loss.
  24. s Shiny, your hair line looks like mine when I first noticed any hair loss. Even with using propecia I continued to lose hair in the temples and very front despite being on propecia. Imagine where I would be never trying propecia out! I really don't understand much of this impotence scare from propecia, I know some people get sides and have very good reasons for not trying it, but i really don't understand why not giving it a chance. I'm no expert, but I aggree with Bills and I'm willing to bet you WILL lose more hair! Especially considering your age. Propecia could be essential with maintaining what you have and compliment your HT. On another note most clinics where very close with there estiments of me needing 1800-2300 graphs. When i finally met with Dr. Paul Shapiro in person he felt I only required 1800 to acheive my goals. It goes to show you wont know exactly until you meet in person! I ended up not needing nearly as much as I thought! Best Wishes on your decision!
