  1. Awesome. I think the patient most likely got a big boost from finasteride on top of the 5000 grafts. But fantastic regardless.
  2. Density = FU's per unit of surface area --> FUT removes FU's AND surface area -->therefore overall density not as much affected as just removing FUs and no surface area as in FUE This is why for most grafts possible over a lifetime it is recommended to do strip first up until your scalp allows then switch to FUE
  3. when u hit the 3-4 month mark and you see all those hairs popping up at the same time in an evenly distributed pattern (as has happened in your case) you can basically sit back and relax cause you already won
  4. Do you agree with this assessment Dr Bloxham? I know Dr Feller thinks FUT is a superior procedure in all cases except where the patient is not a candidate for it, but would you say that with a great donor, skilled surgeon, and proper protocol the yields are comparable and it is a reasonable risk to take (ignoring future loss and less total donor supply from FUE)?
  5. Damn brah I ask one simple question and get accused of feeding into the hysteria/neurosis/paranoia of post op HT patients. Just a question, don't blame me for patients pestering their doctors! I think they can handle it though, they're paid well and have plenty patient reps It can safely be implied at this point that 5 month results =/= final results. If not then the patient was not properly informed or well researched. Fair point that the word progress is more appropriate, but I could tell by the tone of the post that he was not super pleased and I wanted to hear his own thoughts on his progress. I even said said it ''looked good'', but it is important we know his own self assessment. Ultimately the pictures are inconclusive and the amount of time he is post op would still make even great pictures inconclusive as far as the final result is concerned. Rawkerboy also used the word ''results'' in this thread ---> ''Lovely results'' Personally I think giving false hope about ''results'' when they are inconclusive is also bad. Patients need to be realistic, stay on top of things ,communicate with their Doctor etc...All of which should be explained beforehand and forum members bear little responsibility to what a patient decides to discuss with their Doctor postop.
  6. There's definitely some sparseness in the middle of the hairline. The rest is hard to tell though because the pictures are so different. Do you have some pics around the 3rd month mark? Either way don't panic as it is too early for significant growth.
  7. Looks good but conditions are so drastically different from pre to post op. What do YOU think of your progress Frederic?
  8. Ya full fin results can take up to 12+ months so best to give it more time.
  9. So far so good. Looks like you have some thinning throughout the NW5 area though. The second you think you are losing more ground you should give dut a try it is the God of density. But grown out with that new hairline it will still look great.
  10. I have almost identical loss and am going to get an HT in the near future. Too many years worrying about it yet it has been stable for the past couple. 1500-2000max and you'll be good to go, just go to a top guy.
  11. Will depend on your age, family history, meds you are on etc. From Dr Fellers POV FUT is always preferable (if donor permits) because it is simply the superior procedure. IMO if you are someone who keeps your hair long FUT is almost always the route to take (minimize risk, most lifetime grafts etc). But if you have minimal loss, have stabilized with meds, AND wish to keep your hair very short, an FUE is a perfectly reasonable choice. You just need to be very picky with the surgeon you chose.
  12. Will repeat, don't put much stock in your tests or even scalp/serum DHT levels from certain studies. The most relevant study for your concerns was the initial dose ranging study which showed various doses and the subsequent hair count achieved at the end of the study. 0.2mg/day WAS effective. Not as effective as 1mg, but if you want the positive benefits of fin I'd reccomend trying to take atleast 0.2mg/day. Less COULD be effective, but that is the lowest dose we have hair count related data for.
  13. I wound't put too much stock in your DHT test results. The assays they use to measure DHT are not very accurate. Did you also get your Testosterone measured? If so, what were the before and afters on that? The sensitivity limit of the tests for steroid hormones is very close to the blood DHT levels for most people but for testosterone the average is much higher, so it is accurately measured. DHT does not dissolve well in water (and blood) so most DHT circulates in the blood as a sulfate or glucuronide metabolite so you need a DHT-g test for more accuracy.
  14. 7000 grafts is a lot for FUE especially all in one shot. Most here would advise you against surgery or to opt for a big FUT session first. 1) what kind of expectations do you have? 2) did your Dr discuss/offer FUT? 3 )how many days did he say thr FUE would take place over?
  15. Looks like you got a thick head man (got a jumbo dome myself) which means above average # of grafts over a lifetime. How many grafts did they tell you you have left?
  16. You gotta atleast try RU or fin again at a lower dose and see how you tolerated it. At our age stabilization is a must before even considering an HT, especially as a diffuse thinner. Even an HT with SMP I think would not be a great option for you based on hair color. If fin really messed you up that bad then I completely understand not even wanting to entertain that idea. But I have seen guys go lower dose or use something like RU and be able to help with maintenance.
