FUT / Dr. Marwan Saifi (AM-MED) / 2043 grafts / Feb 16th 2015
Dolph1969 replied to mklDK's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I'm really only going by what the drs suggested. The disparity in the amount quoted is strange. I'm willing to listen to any other suggestions, based on the picture I've put up here. As I said before, i'm not looking an 18 year olds hairline, just trying to lose the Bruce Willis circa 80s look. -
Should I get a transplant? (pics attached)
Dolph1969 replied to Cleveland44's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I don't think the "just go shaved, your head is perfect" cuts it, when you're losing your hair. I'm new to this forum, but there seems to be some surgeons who can work miracles, even with your extent of loss. You seem to have a considerable amount of chest hair, so a body hair transplant may be an option. I would send pics to reputable surgeons and see what comes back in terms of their recommendations. At least you'll get an idea of your options. Good luck. -

Not sure. Had very differing quotes. Ergadon 4500 Doganay 2800 Saifi 2000 Based on the same pictures. It all gets very confusing. .... Any pointers appreciated. Not sure why this loaded sideways. .. -

I think the problem with fut is, if you wear your hair short at the back and sides, there will be an obvious HT scar, no matter how good the surgeon is at stitching. -

I would be interested in the contents of your conversation with him Paddy. I'm for fue, as I wear my hair short at the back and sides and don't want a visible ht scar. Pm me if you don't want to post the details on the thread. -

Having researched a lot mate, I've not heard any great reports on uk clinics, apart from the likes of The Private Clinic and Farjo. Crown clinic in Manchester seems to be ok. -

The work looks neat. Did he place grafts into the forelock? I'm not sure about starting fin, so wouldn't want to end up with what looks like two horns, if the forelock starts to thin out. I'm aware i'll probably need more work, if i'm opting out of taking fin. -
Having researched on here and other sites, I've seen virtually norwood 6/7 candidates get nearly full heads of hair again, through diligent use of donor hair and surgeons skills. Tbh, a wig/hair system would be a total last resort for me, although some look very authentic. I just have visions of 80 year old men in swimming pools on holiday, trying to avoid getting their heads wet, with what looks like a squirrel on their heads.:o 23 is really young, not knowing how the hair loss will develop. Personally, i'd give it until near 30, so you've an idea of how your hair loss is progressing, then look at a HT with conservative use of graft coverage. I'm 45 and no matter what age you are, it's crap losing your hair.

Looking good. I'm seriously considering Hakan for my transplant. Is there much pain involved during the op? How quickly does the redness subside afterwards?

Dr Saifi seems to do very neat work, with little post op bleeding. Recovery time also seems to be good. My only concern is, looking at the gallery on his site, he doesn't seem to pack as densely as other surgeons and tends to go for a higher hairline than most. Some of the after results look a bit whispy around the hairline area. I like the fact you don't have to have the whole top of your head shaved when he does it. Might be able to wangle some form of hairstyle, post op.... -
650 grafts Dr. Scott Alexander in AZ

Looks perfect. I definitely wouldn't have gone lower with the hairline. -
Any updates on your surgery with Dr Saifi?

Is he in Belgium? It's mainly going to be hairline work, with maybe a few in the crown area. It's trying to calculate cost as well, which is difficult when you're getting such diverse quotations regarding grafts.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not doubting his expertise, as his results look awesome, but from looking at forum pics, I've seen norwood 5/6 types being given virtually full heads of hair with 4500 grafts.:confused: Do these clinics revise your graft estimate, once they have examined you in the flesh, or do they charge you, based on your original quote? Also, i'm not sure about lowering the hairline too much. To give a better example, I've three fingers width, from the point of my brow, to the front of my existing hairline. All advice taken on board.....
