  1. Perhaps with expensive potentially life shortening medications as used by organ transplant patients, not worth it.
  2. Rule of thumb is no gushing blood from displaced shaft and odds are good you kept the graft. Some people begin shedding hairs three days post op, you're in a nerve racking stage of the growth, in three months you'll see some promise but it will take about 8 months to truly start getting excited. I'm at 23 weeks now, growth is apparent, density leaves much to be desired still however.
  3. Damn dude, i had septorhino done for 5,500k, you're making me feel like I got a bargain.
  4. Some of the best plastic surgeon are in Dallas and Houston, lots of wealthy clientele have the Lone Star state on the verge of actually out doing La La land in per capita procedures, the upside of this is a field of great cosmetic surgeons can be found in Texas, and much more affordably than in NY or Cali. Were not allowed to link to surgeons because that would be soliciting, even though I work for none and would only be pointing you to suggestions but i recommend googling surgeons in Sugarland, Texas and Highland Park, Texas. Rhinoplasty is big in those parts.
  5. Half of men lose most of their hair by old age, two third of men thin noticeably. Every now and then you get to be Ronald Reagan but my word is that an exception, he had enough hair to cover two men when he was 90.
  6. At 25 if you are still dissatisfied with your appearance, as you may grow to accept or even like a cropped or shaved head, you can look into surgery. I caution realism, you lost a lot early and it will take a minimal of two procedures to get you the appearance of hair back, and even then modern medicine won't bring you back to a full head of hair, but an aesthetically pleasing and face framing hairline is possible. Hold off, try meds, try getting comfortable in your own skin, and stay tuned to see if hair cloning advances, that will be your true follicle savior at this point, perhaps in conjunction with a transplant in the interim, but be patient. I started losing my hair at 18, had a transplant in August at age 26, i'm still anxiously awaiting the result, i was a Norwood 3a and it still took 2700 grafts to achieve a good result, you're looking at 7000 grafts. Good news is your donor area looks pretty good.
  7. Me too, I'm at 22 weeks, have a hairline outline but density is awful, hoping I'm only looking at 60 percent of the grafts popping up right now, i do see a handful sprinkled throughout the scalp emerging, hopefully that means in another five months i'll have good density.
  8. I wouldn't bother with the hassle of a system mate, I'd study and save to find a North American based doctor and go from there.
  9. It's bunk peddled by those that will sell you anything and everything, in fact if a doctor offers it i suggest you seek another doctor. To me it is a big red flag, Hair Club For Men territory.
  10. How long do slight bumps persist along the scar line? i still have some raising on the right side of the head, there is no pain and it isn't keloid but it isn't smooth like the rest if my scar, my hair is not short enough for me to look at my scar, I've tried, hopefully that's a testament to a good tri-closure. So opinions on bumps, I am 22 weeks post op, am I going to have to live with a bump that's about two inches worth of scar or will it too subside?
  11. Wow guys so very frustrating to hear your stories, i have great empathy. Thank the Good Lord I did not trust that man after consulting one of his consults, they just smacked of a slicker version of Bosley to me. They are way overpriced and apparently on par with Bosley to boot, my goodness what a travesty, havee you reported them to the Better Business Bureau? Considered reporting them to the Plastic Surgeons Boards that license them to practice in their state? People like this need to be shown to be the charlatans they are, they deserve to be along side televangelists in ridicule and for defacing an other wise honorable and good medical practice.
  12. I just turned 27, had a norwood 3a pattern, Dr.Alexander was my choice three months ago, he gave me 2700 grafts in recipient area. i recommend him, he's ethical, realisitc, does good work and is a little cheaper than the other top doctors, if he's that close to you all the better.
  13. You're just barely eligable to consider restoration, 25 is preferable but your pattern is defined and you're close enough to the age to consider. You're too advanced for FUE in my opinion, you need a good strip surgery to restore the hairline. Spend the next sixth months researching surgeons if that's what you want and make sure you're on finasteride.
  14. How long did those bumps last? I have a couple on my right side along the scar.
  15. I started shedding on day 4! But some people get lucky and keep half the hair shed free.
  16. Look for "Curb Your Enthusiasm" screenshots, his hairline was in deep recession and the camera did not flatter him, not trying to play "gotcha" with him, just thought it reflected on his procedure poorly.
  17. Get on finasteride, take pictures of your hair every sixth months to a year to evaluate, stay on it if it seems to be working or at least slowing it down. Wait till 25 and see if you're confident with your appearance and will have a good idea if finasteride is working and what pattern of hair loss you have, then if you are still insecure about your appearance and not satisfied with a shaved head or receding hairline you can go forward with a hair transplant, in six years you'll be much more full of life experience and perspective and i advise strongly against pursuing surgery before that age; besides by the time you are 25 new technology might exist. So in conclusion get on finasteride, adopt a hair cut you like and live your life, keep tabs on the effectiveness of the drug and then at 25 pursue transplants if you still want it.
  18. It can but realistically the yield is likely not gong to be up to expectations, your concern is legitimate and I empathize how disconcerting that must feel.
  19. Please give me opinions of progress, I need some reassurance.
  20. Man, he was on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and under close scrutiny his hairline is not impressive, i don't know how severe his hair loss was but the job done needs touched up. He looked like he had a receding hairline and not a widow's peak and the hairline had an artificial quality to it.
  21. Hi all, EDIT: PICTURES BELOW, first two of one week post op, next three are of 13 weeks post op. Will post pics shortly of the procedure i had with Dr. Scott Alexander back on 8/13/2010, here we are at 13 weeks post op and the best description in lieu of the coming photos is that my grafts look like they did immediately post op, a frontal scalp full of protruding short hairs, though of lesser diameter, emerging from the scalp and forming a good face framing hairline and enough density to add hair color to the recipient area. So first impressions, does it sound like I'm on track? I'll have photos up soon, have to downsize them for upload. can't tell if all 2700 have begun to grow, density quality won't be known for months i suppose but the hairline is flourishing. Do I sound as though I'm headed for a good restoration? A head of schedule or behind you think? I ask because I shed real quick, by the end of day three and four I was shedding scabs and hairs after surgery.
  22. On day four I began shedding scabs with hair in them, no blood, and by day seven virtually all scabs were gone. Now at day 10 I have been shedding hairs like a mad man when rubbing neosporin on the recipient site, already I have bare patches in the recipient area and a couple of red marks that look like pimples. Now I realize all of what i've seen is normal with hte exception, i think, of the time span. AM I just a fast healer? When they went to take my sutures out on day seven they said my skin was already growing over and around the sutures and it actually took some effort to get them out. So does all of this point to healing at a rapid pace? I seem a good week a head of schedule, maybe two, is that cause for alarm?
  23. What about in so short a period of time, 3 to 4 days after transplant?
