  1. my Dr's post-op instructions said to cover my head for 3 months after surgery when I'm out in the Sun, and next Fri will be exactly 3 months post-op. I know my Dr's instructions said 3 months is the threshold, but would like to hear feedback from you guys. i'm also rarely under direct sun for a long time, it's mostly just when i'm driving and walking from building to building, and the sun is never directly shining at my head. i don't really like wearing hats because i feel they suffocate my head, and I get weird looks when i wear the bandana that the Dr. provided, so it would be cool if i can put them away.
  2. here are some updated pics. these are about 9 weeks post-op. the first pic isn't as clear, but shows the hairline design, which i love. pretty straight with a very slight arch. here is a closer pic in higher resolution. what's interesting is the hairs that did not shed are kind of all over the place, but the small hairs that are growing are in the correct direction of hair. i know eventually the straggler hairs will grow in the correct direction. i also had some shock loss but looks like it's filling back up! excited for the next stage of my post-op.
  3. just wanted to drop a quick update. i'm seeing growth!!!! i can see little hairs sprout out all over, so really excited. some of the hairs that did not shed have become really long and i just trim them to the length that i cut may hair. the donor area is still a bit red, it's getting better, and i know recoveries vary by person. this is mostly visible under bright light. recipient area redness is going away too..
  4. yep i was prescribed the same thing. i still have some redness in donor area, especially under direct light. just gotta give our bodies time to do it's thing!
  5. sorry for the late reply, did the bumps clear? the bumps i had weren't really pimples either, just red dots that were slightly painful if i touched it (painful like a mosquito bite). the medicine cleared most of them, the dr. said pimples will come in go within the next year. i would take pics of them and skype with the Dr, he prescribed the medication over skype.
  6. stopped using it for now. i'm taking antibiotics and a topical gel he prescribed to get rid of some pimples that formed in the donor area, so nothing for now. also as an FYI, i just used aloe on the recipient area like 2x only.
  7. here is 38 days post op. redness in recipient area is going away, and donor area looks good unless under direct light. still has some redness, but it's going away slowly.
  8. to each their own i guess. i think it looks fine.
  9. looks good!! the first 10 days are the hardest then things get easier.
  10. Dr. Diep does a zig zag with single hair follicles in the front. this is what it should hopefully look like when the hair grows back.
  11. here are some updates. i didn't update much during the shedding, but now that i'm everything has shed, i will start updating more periodically. these are 17 days post op. hair had slowly started to shed. took these tonight, 31 days post op. almost all hair has shed, recipient area is slightly still red/pink, but i'm pretty fair skin, so i know it will eventually go away. i used aloe with vitamin e in my donor area the past week which helped a lot, so will start using it in recipient area as well
  12. that looks amazing. cant wait to see my results.
  13. everything is fine, don't worry. if it bleeds when it falls, then that's not good, but hair sheds at different stages.
  14. so i'm definitely starting to shed, so i know it's going to be a roller coaster the next few months. not much to update, the donor area is still pink and noticeable under certain lighting, but i am pretty fair skin and everybody heals different, so hopefully it's because of that.
  15. what's wrong with the hairline? i had a few stragglers in the center of the hairline, so he started from there and did a slight arch. just curious...
  16. im pretty sure that's fine. after 2 months you wont lose any transplanted hair.
  17. hey. will definitely post pics next few weeks. the donor area looks pretty good, it is a bit noticeable but that's because the hair is uneven where he extracted. once i got a haircut it will be hard to notice. the recipient area is recovering quite well too. i'm at 2 weeks nwo and about 98% of crusting and scabs are gone too. the biggest obstacle you'll have is just the swelling you get the first week, and when crusting develops, your head will have a lot of cracks on it but that goes away once you start to actually massage your head when you shampoo at the 1 week mark.
  18. yea, i'm really excited. i've been keeping up with your progress, and Dr. Diep does great work!
  19. so rogaine is similar to propecia that once you stop, you lost what you have gained? i was planning on starting rogaine next week(2 weeks post OP), but reading this thread, i may decide otherwise.
  20. starting to finally shower normally as of yesterday and soft massaging of the scalp with burts bees baby shampoo has really helped the crusting. got rid of a lot of crusting and in a few days i think i'll get majority of the crusting gone. donor area is also healing quite well, once i get haircut and even out the hair, will be a lot less noticeable. i think once you start to touch your hair and to clean it instead of being really careful w it, that's when you start to make progress.
  21. I'm at day 9 post op and wondering when I can sleep normally and not have to sleep on my back using a neck pillow. My natural sleeping position is either on my side or on my stomach with my head to the side, so there will definitely be contact between my recipient area and pillow. Thanks
