  1. I had a 2,000 graft procedure with Dr. Charles 18 months ago and it is not very dense. He is a great person and doctor, but he has not returned my e-mails for a while, kind of strange. My scar is fine and the grafts are growing very well, I like the hairline design, however he doesn't do large procedures so I am actually looking at Dr. Rahal or H&W and Armani for my next procedure. I would recommend getting at least 3,000 grafts for your hairloss. Dr. Rahal has some very impressive pictures and his prices are the best among top docs. Good luck.
  2. Hello all, these are some of my 17 month post-op pictures from a procedure I had with Dr. Glen Charles in Florida on 09-16-05, only the frontal 1/3 was transplanted. I had 2,008 grafts done that day. Sorry I don't have any pre-ops, I will try to get some, my computer crashed over the summer and I lost all my files. I e-mailed Dr. Charles a week ago to see if he can send me some of my pre-ops but I haven't heard from him yet. I plan to have another procedure done, but I am looking else where because Dr. Charles says I might be able to get only 1800-1900 grafts. Dr. Rahal said I could get at least 3,000 grafts and Dr. Armani said 4,000. I'm in my mid 20's, from southeast Asia, so my donor density is not as good as others, but my hair shafts I believe are thicker. All the doctors I've consulted with said to leave the crown alone, to be honest I'm not sure exactly where the crown begins and where the top of my head ends. I for sure want to add more density to the hairline and top and if at all possible a little in the crown region. I am on generic fin and am using Nizoral 2%, so hopefully my crown improves a little. Any suggestions would help me plan my next surgery.

  4. I had my procedure almost 8 months ago, 9-16-05, and I smoked on the way to the clinic and right afterwards and my grafts came out just fine. I know smoking is bad, but it didn't seem to slow down my recovery process. I've even talked to people who have taken smoking breaks during surgery.
  5. It's thin, but it looks really good. Thank you very much for sharing.
  6. Looks so damn good Bob. You must be very trilled. How many grafts do you think you have left if you were to get another transplant, not that you need one though. Very happy for you. Thanks for sharing your story which I've followed ever since you started posting.
  7. shock loss for me happened after two weeks and it didn't start growing back until the fourth month, after that i noticed some of the transplanted grafts popping out
  8. Try to sleep during the procedure that way you won't be so tired after the procedure. Also ice your forehead with an ice-pack for 10-15 minutes every hour for the first three days post-op to reduce or prevent swelling.
  9. Looks nice, that's a pretty solid hairline that frames your face very well. I wouldn't touch the hairline anymore. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Where on your head did the grafts go? I had a 2,000 graft procedure done by Dr. Charles 6 months ago in the frontal 1/3 of my head. The hair is starting to grow but I had a lot of permanent shock loss so it still looks pretty thin.
  11. It's really only painful in the wallet. The procedure isn't all that bad, just the injections and some post-op healing numbness. If you do go get procedure, try not to get that much sleep the night before that way you'll be tired and sleep easier during the procedure if you want to be "KNOCK OUT".
  12. I had only 2,000 grafts put into my frontal 1/3 of my head and had a good amount of shock loss, most of which never came back and now 6 months later, the transplanted grafts are just starting to come and it looks like I had nothing done. Another procedure or two is in my future.
  13. sorry, this is the link http://www.midwestrealhair.com/additionalphotos.htm
  14. Hi, I wondered upon this website just a while ago and found the results to be amazing, but I've never heard of the doctor before and the number of FU's used for some of the patients seem amazingly high, maybe too good to be true, just wondering what you guys thought.

  16. Jrsky, Congrats on your procedure. I had 2008 grafts put into my frontal 1/3 by Dr. Charles on 09/16/2005. I'm about two weeks shy of six months and I'm starting to notice the new hairline coming in. About Half the grafts have grown to an inch or so and I am still getting pimples to this day which means more grafts are popping up because even though some grafts are long now, but still thin, I can see some grafts just sprouting and I can feel the little spikes on my scalp, so I still have a few more months to really see the results. It's too bad I had some permanent shock loss of my weaker hairs, but I plan to have a couple more procedures to cover the entire scalp. Hang in there and happy growing to you.
  17. Just wondering if there are any doctors out there who give discounts for having a second or third procedure done with the same doctor. Anyone had any experience?
  18. Hi everyone, just wanted everyone to know about a procedure I had last Friday with Dr. Glen Charles. I'm in my early 20's and began balding at 17. I've researched this site and many others for about three years before going to Dr. Charles. What made me chose him was his hairline designs and consistency with HT's. I am three days post-op now and am feeling fine. I had 2008 grafts put into my hairline and frontal forelock. The scar feels fine, itchy from time to time, same with the recipient area. I also got a flight and hotel reimbursment and a free lunch. My day began at 9 am, met up with Pam, then went over hairline placement with the doc, then came surgery which was quick. The shots were not even that painful and it was only a few minutes and by lunch all the incisions were made. After lunch the techs, who were really great people, fun to talk with, placed the grafts and it last until 4, also saw Tommy Boy too for the first time. It would have been over with sooner, but I was bleeding quite a lot so that took some time. Dr. Charles and his staff are amazing and I would go back to them any time. He went over everything before the procedure answering questions and gave great post-op instructions too and he also gave me some graftcycle which I used up in 2 days. Also went to the beach and got some ocean water to pour on my head two days later. There are a few very good surgeons out there that I would have gone to, but Dr. Charles gave me the attention that the others won't. Which ever one you choose, make sure you do your research and are confident in your doctor and yourself. I'll follow up soon. Thanks to Pat for having a great site even though some people here have their own strong opinions. Also to Robert, Smoothy, and a host of others that I can't mention right now, but it's people like you that make others looking for help want to come back and be apart of this great forum and help others back.

  20. Hi, I'm getting my first procedure done with Dr. Charles two weeks from today, just wondering about post-op from patients of any doctor. Where you guys able to walk out of the office and do normal things? What's the best way to reduce redness and speed up recovery? How much would it cost to have the staples removed by your own doctor and how long would the staples have to be in place? How long does it usually take for the redness to be gone and if you were to shave your head, how visible is the scar 4-5 months down the road?
