  1. Cool progression pics, Jim! I have to admit, I was completely ignorant about temples until after HT #1 and really didn't consider it much for HT #2. I'm hoping to have some much needed "temple touch-up" for HT #3! Peace-
  2. If your first scar wasn't good not sure I'd trust them to do better the second time, unless they have a very good reason why it happened. There are many good surgeons that can revise your scar, or do a small session and revise it. Just look through the coalition Dr. Wong did my 2nd HT (and is doing my 3rd) and my scar is paper thin.
  3. Thanks for the replys guys! Bill - Depends on what Master Wong can harvest. From what I've been told after HT #2, I think I still have substantial donor left........If I were to guess I'm betting he'll harvest between 3000-3500 somewhere. My thought process is this: 1) Hairline/temple work -I've never had any.....hoping for around 1500 for this. My hairline is around 7cm, but was 6cm when native so I'm not really looking to lower much, maybe a tad, then dense into the widow's peaks and rebuild temple points. 2) Crownwork - finish the crown - again, probably 1000-1500 here and will go a little lower in the back and also focus more on right/left side of crown rather than immediate back - Fin has been helping me hold my own and I've not receded further 3) Density on top - whatever else 500-1000, will be thrown in to dense-up frontal 1/3 and midscalp although I'm not too unhappy as is. Balody - Thanks for the vote of confidence. I figure at my age, 41, I've got the donor and would like it to look as good as it can..........sort of like painting a house 3/4 of the way and leaving it ;-)........personal choice I guess! thana - I can only "hope" to be a hairy SOB when complete.......we can't all be like Bill, ya know!! uncjim - my fellow brother from the school of Master Wong - thanks for the note, my friend. Yes, diffused is a different approach, I agree. I sort of fell into my plan of attack but it actually has probably turned out for the best. I've managed to be gone from work for 15 days, am clipping down to 1/4" before I go back and if any scar trouble bought some dermmatch just in case :-). I think I'll be able to pull it off but we'll see! Wish I had the guts to shave down staples and all, then go workout at the gym or somethin! ;-) I guess I could just say "had brain surgery, can't ya tell?" Peace -
  4. Bump - See the original post..............I'm FINALLY going in for #3!
  5. I don't think there's any question that H&W consistently are able to do more in a session than other clinics. It's what they do and they do it well. In addition to the top-notch surgeons, proper staffing is needed to accomplish such a feat. Many excellent points have been raised on the thread. Everyone isn't a candidate for a session of 5000 or more due to different reasons................young age along with those unknowns about further loss, donor availability, scalp laxity....and many, many more.
  6. Opinions, opinions, opinions!!! Seriously, it's purely personal choice. I was a heavily diffused thinning NW 5 before any HT's. I've had 5000 grafts so far, and am probably going back soon for more, at least another 3000. So, in my case, donor hasn't been an issue and I'll still have some left. How many grafts are you estimated to have? If you have 4000 or so, I'd go with 3000 in frontal 1/3 to mid-scalp, then a dusting of the crown with the rest. IMO, if you have dense hair in the front with a completely bald crown, it's doesn't look very natural. My loss was from the crown forward, so, I was always obssessed with getting it covered. I'll look forward to hearing other views on this! Best of luck -
  7. I would urge all posters to move past this thread and let it go. I've been here awhile and can tell you there's no hidden agenda by Pat, Bill or anyone else to protect or expose any Doctor in particular. In my tenure here, I've known both Pat and Bill to be fair-minded guys. We all have a common interest - hair loss and helping to educate and help those who don't like it. If anyone has a Doc that has performed work on them personally, talk with the Doc and try to resolve it, or, if it can be then post the evidence and let the chips fall where they may. It's too bad people just can't swallow their pride once in awhile and check the egos at the door. We aren't all going to agree on everything here.......and that's okay, let's just disagree respectfully. This site and many of the posters here, some still here and some of whom have moved on, has been a tremendous help to me in preventing future hair loss and in my attempt to restore my hair. I'm very thankful to Pat, Bill and the many who have been here to stay the course! Peace ~
  8. Same here, PGP - Each time I revisit the thread, I keep hoping to see immediately post-op pics. Are there any? The pics that were posted do give a better idea of what was done but immedately afters really help you zero in on the area the work was done.
  9. Kudos to you, Pat, for keeping the integrity of the forum #1. There's been plenty of time since this thread started for Dr. DeYarman's clinic to post as many before/afters as possible to prove the consistency in quality of his work. It is a shame something like this has to be settled in court. Dr. DeYarman, why not take Pat and others up on their offer and just start posting before/after pics of recent work? The proof is in the pics. I can guarantee if I saw the work and it was consistently excellent, I would be glad to recommend that you be added back to the sites Coalition Surgeons.
  10. I don't think there was a difference for me. Maybe a little slower for the 2nd for me but that was likely because many of the grafts were in the crown. Look at my blog, even at 4mo 22days in the crown I had pretty significant growth so not too bad I guess. Hang in there.....and stop looking in the mirror !
  11. I wish I had a crystal ball for you AJ but you'll just have to try it and see. Since Telogen only lasts for 6 weeks to 2 months, whatever hair does "shed" will have penty-o-time to come back by July.
  12. I really don't. I think anything that you're lifting heavier weight is probably suspect......like bench or squats! I think you can probably base much of your decision on how it feels when you lift. I remember from HT #1 I pretty much went full tilt at 1 month and really I felt fine. Just ease your way into it and start moving up. You'll probably just need to continue with it and see how you feel as you go!
  13. Trimox, I'm happy for you my friend. The work looks great from Dr. Hasson (as usual) and it's really coming along nicely for you. Imagine, if it looks this good at 5 months, what you'll be thinking at the one year mark ;-) !!! Peace ~
  14. Jim, Congrats to you my friend. I've seen your story on HLH and know you've helped many with your story and posts. I'll be anxious to see how this turns out for you. Peace -
  15. I hope you'll take the time to post some before and after shots of the procedure. I've not seen Dr. Keller's work before but would love to.
  16. Good point Gorpy! I remember after HT #2 having stuble coming in around 1 1/2 months or so but determined it was shocked hair that was coming back, not HT hair. Everyone varies on growth. Generally, the crown is slower. If I were to guess I'd say it's common to see evidence of new HT hair growth by 2-3 months.........just getting started mind you. For it to have much cosmetic significance I'd say 4-7 months, with more growth yet to come up to one year and a little past.
  17. I know you were trying to post it to help....but it's so blurry you can't see any grafts at all. Again, nothing against your attempt, just wanting to point out how important it is to document for reference later. Especially if you want to show anyone the quality work you received! Peace -
  18. Nice post, JOBI!! Anyone considering HT's would benefit from it.
  19. Kaleen, I replied to your other thread and believe you've gotten some good advice from Jason, Bill and Gorpy here. I can appreciate you wanting to find out more about Friedman but unless you have access to before/after pics of his work, and several of them, I'd highly recommend you try Dr. Alexander, or Dr. Keene, if you're wanting to stay local. There are many good Docs recommended by this site which have proven themselves over the years. I'd encourage you to browse around a little before making a decision.
  20. With any Doc the proof is both in the pics, and from testimonials of those who have been to that particular Doc. I've never seen Friedman's work so if you think about going to him again I'd recommend you see as many before/after pics of his work that you can, and maybe even try to meet a few patients??? As for Dr's Alexander and Keene, I don't think you could go wrong with either as I've seen many examples of their work and they are both excellent. If memory serves, if you need more grafts I suppose I would opt for Dr. Alexander. I think he was doing larger session sizes that Dr. Keene but check me out on that.
  21. I have no problem whatsoever with new or old posters raving about their Doc, but, as has been mentioned you really need to be prepared to follow up with before/afters and progression pics if you want to be taken seriously. jerrygarcialives - I'm glad you took the time to post what you have but if you can't post pre-op/post-op pics it really does no good. In order to evaluate the results, it's very important to have pics of exactly what was done. I'm not trying to be critical of you in particular, just wanting posters to know how important it is to properly document progress. Peace -
  22. The "shed" is just a more than normal amount of hair being kicked into the "telogen" or resting phase of the hair growth cycle. If I remember correctly, 10-15% of your hair is in the resting phase at any given time. When you start something like Finasteride, it can kick a more-than-normal amount of your hair into the telogen phase of the growth cycle so it may appear a little thin for awhile. If you shed, just ride it out and eventually they'll grow back, and hopefully you'll have the added benefit of a few more hairs that weren't there before returning with them !!
  23. Mike - Assuming Dr. Hasson is like Dr. Wong (my Ht Doc)..........it there wasn't much pain at all. The tool they used for numbing was a vibrating instrument they ran across the donor and recipient sites. It felt like several little pin pricks which i didn't consider painful at all. Totally unlike my 1st HT where they shoved a very long needle under my skin and I still felt things a little. Just sit back in the chair and relax, you'll be in the best of hands. I know when I was in for HT #2 I couldn't stop smiling from thinking of all those hairs that would be sprouting soon
  24. I've been a supporter of this site for a long time now and have found that by and large we've had the ability to let bygones be bygones and realize what we're here for.........to help those suffering with hair loss. As IH mentioned, and how true, isn't this site bigger than one poster?? C'mon guys...........I would agree with you if there was a pattern of systematically banning those who don't agree with Pat, Bill or other veteran members here, but that's simply not the case. Have there been instances where if it was my site I may have approached a situation differently than Pat or Bill?? You bet! However, at the end of the day, I believe I'm pretty much on the same page with them as to the intent of the site and the value it provides. NN and Nobuzz............guys, I've known/posted with you a long time and consider you friends......please, we've all done a world of good for many balding (and formerly balding) types and learned a great deal ourselves. Let's put this past us. It just isn't always going to work out the way we want it to but at the end of the day.....in the words of my brother Spex...."it's all good"...right??? If NG2GB has an issue with Pat, or Pat with him, let it rest there and let them work it out. It's Pat's site and really his call to make. As I mentioned, we may not agree with them all, but, more then once I've seen Pat hold HT surgeons accountable when I was thinking "well, let's give him another chance".............my point being Pat is completely about providing honest and unbiased information to those searching for their own benefit. Please........let's put this behind us. I've known Pat to be a reasonable and fair person. If NG2GB, in this case, wants back on the board, he'll take the necessary steps to get back on. It sounds like it was more the manner in which he chose to communicate with Pat rather than what he said..........but I didnt' see the PM so who knows. Okay..........that's my $.02! Before you take aim and fire at me or my post, remember, I'm a recovering bald guy too so have mercy!
  25. I've been on the board awhile and at the end of the day know Pat makes the decisions he does to maintain the integrity of the site and information represented here. Will we all agree with every call made, nope! Have I agreed with most of them, yep! I've met many people here who I stay in touch with and consider my friends. All in all, I've really enjoyed my stay and hope to continue. As I've mentioned, freedom of speech (or opinion) is a great thing, but there are still guidelines for the forum and just plain old "treat others as you want to be treated". Make your points, have your opinions, but do it respectfully. In some cases I think there have been posters who have been removed in the past that may have made some valid points, BUT, you can always do it in a respectful way, don't you agree? Overall this site has been a huge benefit to me and I know to others. Let's move forward and focus on the reason we're hear.............to learn more about hair loss prevention and restoration!!
