Is anyone in their 40's 50's that is a NW4 or NW5 and has not progressed/slowed down tremendously? (weird question, because mpb doesn't just stop) The reason I asked this is because I don't see too many NW4/NW5 patients. If you ARE a NW4/5 at age 40/50, when did you start your hairloss? 30's? late 20's? I personally started mid 20's but it's been VERY slow, nothing like many of you here on the site, I am curious to know if my slow progression will continue forever, which would be great!

I did not have PRP nor ACELL It was a straightforward HT for Dr. Cooley To answer your questions about his ability. You have nothing to worry about Dr. Cooley is one of the best HT doctors available

This does sound a bit low, but maybe it's "fade" that the HT doctor is going with. I know that when I had mine done, due to my characteristics, Dr. Cooley knew that he had to dense pack my hairline or it would not look correct

You're fine, my doctor recommending using saline pretty much right away It's actually better, you should use it religiously so scabs don't form

Hey Megatron, I see new thin wispy tiny hairs on the hairline, this is what I believe as new growth. I think in another month those hairs will actually look noticeable. crossing fingers if anyone else can comment on their experience, please do so!

In my case I still have hair, but in 8-10 months I know people will ask about my hair simply because the "recession" will have appeared to go away. I will tell everyone it was mainly due to stress and I started using Revita which "did wonders for me". I think that story will work in my situation. I agree with most of you, if this was a situation from nothing to something, it's probably more appropriate and real to just tell everyone you got a HT

This makes me very optimistic about my HT, I'm happy for you Joe! Glad everything is great. I hope you post in another 5 years. Hopefully Year 13 will look just as good as Year 8

To answer your questions, you do not need to shave your head with Dr. Cooley's office. Dr. Cooley uses a Sagittal Slit Technique which allows him to maneuver around your hair and place grafts that mimic your original hair. Please keep in mind that if you do have hair, the HT surgery will take longer since they will have to constantly move your hair around. Placing grafts in between hair also increases risk of temporary shock loss, just to let you know. As far as Dr. Cooley and miniaturization testing, he can take a look at your existing hair and generalize where you are thinning. NHI who handles balding blog actually does extensive test but these test while I personally think is useful, other opinions may differ. Regarding your long term goals, why the Dense Pack with FUE? If you're already going to have a FUT, why not stick with an FUT with your 2nd procedure? FUT in general provides better yield. Choosing Dr. Cooley because you're in the Carolina's shouldn't be a factor in your decision. You should go to the best qualified Doctor that impresses you the most. I personally think Dr. Cooley is one of the best HT doctors, but he doesn't get the recognition that many others get on this site get. As an FYI, I don't see any issues choosing him as your Doctor. I think you'll be surprisingly amazed at how good he is.

Dr. Lindsey, as an FYI, please continue to show the immediate and 3-6 month post-op photos, I think what you're doing is great! However seeing those 1 year post-op photos would really help showcase the patients true results. Looking forward to seeing them!

Hey Megatron, I agree 1 month is too early, but it's always fun to worry, helps time pass by, haha. As far as the short hairs in the hairline, all the "short hairs" are transplanted hair.Some have fallen out, some have not, my hairline even after the transplant never looked to be full. Of course I have very short memory so I fully expect my hairline to look just fine. If you take a look at my the 2/12/2010 photos from my blog, it definitely looks like Dr. Cooley did an awesome job regarding my hairline design It's more of a waiting game for both of us Megatron

I asked Dr. Cooley about this when I had my HT back in February and what his thought about this since he was working with Intercytex on this. From what I remember (I might have been too doped up), he said that the next big thing is injecting something into your hair to stimulate follicles and PRP. Of course I could have been dreaming the whole thing, haha.

Hey Buckerine11, Yup, shedding of the transplanted hairs. Sorry for not being clear on that. Also one thing to note, the donor area is still a tad sore, from a scale of 1 to 10, it's like a 2, very minor I'm assuming in another 2-3 weeks (maybe the 2 months mark), the soreness will be a 1 or have gone away completely

Thanks for the compliment Megatron, I only ask this because many folks have different strategies when it comes to hair transplants. Option 1. Wait until you go more bald, then get it done in one pass or Option 2. Get a HT when you still have hair. I opted with option #2 because I want to make the transition as seamless and unnoticeable as possible. In 6-8 months people wont even tell I had one done. If I end up getting another HT in 10 years, that means the 3000 grafts I got did it's job. Maybe in 10 years I'll get another 3000 and again hopefully no one would notice. I'm pretty much out and about with the a semi buzz cut and no one knows I had the procedure done. It's kinda neat...

I've been thinking and I'm am not in this percentage of people that are fully bald, but I wanted to know how you guys explained how you magically have hair now? When you're slick bald on top and in 1 year, you magically have a head of hair. Isn't it obvious that you had a HT? I thought maybe saying "oh, it's the shampoo I use, or oh, I'm on propecia/rogaine and it's done wonders" But eventually people will find out right? Hey everyone, I just updated my hairloss site, I also added additional photos for my 1 month post op Some observations - pimples are forming (which is normal) - shedding (I'm not shedding much though) - hairline doesn't look very good, it looks sporadic and is concern #1 - donor above left ear I'm paying close attention to, concern #2 - rest of the donor scar looks good As you can see I have 2 concerns but I will wait to make any real judgement

I would like to comment on this as a fellow asian. #1: your photos are taken with wet hair. why? I know many asian guys that gel their hair and what you're showing to us right now looks 100% normal to me. When I was 15 and wet my hair, it looks just like that. and I had a full head of hair (asian hair in general, you'll always see the scalp when it's wet and short) #2: you're 28 so you're pretty well off but it sounds like you know you'll be a NW6 so good for you for looking into your family history #3: You mentioned you're diffused thinner, I can't tell from the photos. If you're diffused thinner, YOU ARE NOT A HT candidate. #4: you obviously have a receding hairline, so if I were you, and if you're comfortable with with your current hairline, simply rebuild it. #5: having 7k-8k of grafts is decent, and you should think long and hard (with your doctor) on where placement should be. this will be KEY. I have roughly 9k and I used 3k of it on my frontal/mid scalp #6: grow out your hair!!! good luck!
