I would suggest consulting with a medical professional and not to look to seek advice from a group of random people on a hair loss forum.

I would consult with medical doctor before taking any dose.

I knew this was coming. I am anyways gonna do that. But my appointment is taking a little too long. Hence I wanted to get an idea till then, what is the most common and popular dose which guys with similar age and problem follow ?

  2. I have this question to guys especially mid age guys here like 35+ what is the does of Minoxidil you guys are on ? I am thinking about starting Oral Minoxidil but thinking what would be the best minimum does of Oral Minoxidil which is safe and yet is good enough to give results. Would you guys say 2.5MG or  should I split the 2.5MG tablet in half and take that ? I  have been on Finasteride/Dutasteride on and off my hairloss is not severe and it has stabilised.

Worried about the side effects like faster Heart Beats, Drop in Blood Pressure, Fluid Retention in Body etc...

I think for each section you're looking at 150-300 grafts approximately. The type of graft (ones, twos, threes) will effect the total number. That top section will likely be double the amount 500-600. Keep in mind pictures always make the hair loss appear worse. I bet to the naked eye some of this thinning isn't as noticeable. At any rate, the hair looks great.....enjoy!

P.S. Ultimately you should listen to what your HT surgeon advises in terms of graft count as he or she is not only helping with your current situation but also managing your donor for the future. I know it's difficult, but don't succumb to hair greed.

Except for the top where I agree with you, but for the rest of the area 150 looks plausible but 300 is way too ambitious. I will struggle with donor hair if it requires 300 for each section. My feeling is for picture-1 maybe around 150, for picture-2 another 100, for picture-3 maybe 50 and for the top around 400-500 that sounds realistic.

  4. Hi Guys,

Wanted to ask you guys looking at these marked pictures how many hair grafts would be required to close in the gaps ? This is gonna be a Touch-Up Procedure to compliment my earlier Hair Transplant. I am not asking dense packing but considerably density so that large open gaps are not visible. So what do you guys think would be required bare minimum to make the gaps less visible without being too ambitious.

Please tell individual Picture wise like for.g. For Picture-1 I think 200 Hair Grafts. For Picture-2 100 Hair Grafts that way...

My hair loss is stable and I am in my mid 40's and I am also on Medication before anyone starts suggesting that this can be controlled with Medicine :) No this requires additional grafts IMHO I am just confused how much would be right numbers of grafts :)

  5. Hi Guys,

I am thinking about getting a touch up Hair Transplant Procedure to complement my earlier hair transplant procedures. Just to give you a background of what I have done so far, I have had 4 procedures done in the past, two major, and two minor, small touch up procedures. In these 4 procedures that I have done so far I would have used about 6000 Hair Grafts roughly in total, but I feel I need some improvement  and this time I’m talking about bolstering, strengthening some areas which I think were left and neglected in all my procedures this includes some gaps on the left side of my partition, some hair grafts just behind my hair line, the gaps just behind my hair line, I think this is a very newly created space that I’m seeing, makes me feel perhaps and maybe I have lost some minor small number of hair here in the recent years. And I am also thinking about using some hair grafts maybe 150-200 Hair grafts in my hairline. As I have mentioned I have exhausted all my back scalp donor hair so this time I am thinking about using my beard hair and some hair from my side locks and I want to use this in the above location which I have mentioned.

Please the attached pictures of the area where I would like some Hair to be Transplanted.

So now you may ask what is the problem ? what is the difficulty ? the challenge here is, I am planning to use beard hair in areas (This is in my Left Side Parting) which predominantly have very fine in texture and fine quality hair, however having said that I also feel since I am not going to use beard hair in the first 2-3 rows of my hairline I think I may just get away with this, in addition of giving a Camouflaging effect, it will also nicely blend with the rest of the hair in that area. And in the frontal hair line area that you see I am planning to use sidelocks hair there and beard hair again in the area in the back of my hairline. So on my side partition I am planning to use beard hair, someone would argue that why would you want to use beard hair in these areas but since I am left with no other choice. The only fine hair quality hair that I have left is the hair from my sidelocks which appear very close in quality and appear to be the same quality as my scalp hair which can be used in the Hairline area. So I am in a fix of where to use these limited amount of Sidelocks that I may have (200 Hair Grafts at the most, 100 hair grafts from each side locks)

So can you guys tell me what do you think about this?

I also happened to have consulted some doctors here including Dr. Konior, Dr. Arocha and Dr. Feriduni on this, and they happened to say that especially for the hair that you want to put on the left side partition in the between area, that could be a tricky decision because you’re trying to transplant hair in an area which is not completely bald, there are some surrounding native hairs in that area and because of that you would stand a risk of suffering shock loss in that area (To the Native Hair) so that is a potential risk that you would have to take into consideration. And with shock loss nobody knows if it is a permanent shock loss or a temporary phenomenon.

But I have added one more picture of my side parting, if you guys can clearly see there are certain areas which are very clearly visible where I don’t think there are too many surrounding hair so if I don’t try to too much dense pack that entire left side partition and just try to fill in the gaps which are very easily evident and visible do you think this might just work? So can you guys tell me what do you guys think about this?

Also please have a look at my Side Parting Hair when my hair is about 3 Months Old Grown. When it is 3 Months grown it looks like this- https://i.postimg.cc/k4GmSGpL/Left-Side-Parting-3.jpg

Please also have a look at my attached pictures.

    Thanks in Advance !

Oh. I misunderstood. You're not going to lose any hair from a bump on your head. It would have to be really bad scrape that ripped out some follicles.

So like an obvious sign of that would be some bleeding or scaring ? isn't it ?

Everyone is saying nothing to worry about. Nobody is explaining me in the way, had this happened, then we could have had some doubt on that being a possibility. 🙂

But everyone like we explain it to a child the same way everyone is telling me no no don't worry noting will happen 🙂

If it's your native hair and not a hair transplant within 14 days post op you will be fine. When you think about hair it takes a lot electrolysis to kill it. Hair is more robust than we 'hair geeks' give it credit for. All the best!

But even though when it is not my Transplanted Hair and Native Hair. Why do you still mention about post 14 day I will be fine ? What has Native Hair got to do with Post or before 14 Days ?

Or are you trying to say that Had I just now had my Transplant that would have also made the surrounding Native Hair also susceptible to shock loss and any more injury even to the Native Hair would have caused Native Hair to shed, but since it is not Transplanted Hair or Time. The Scalp would have resisted this Minor/Medium Shock ? And there by most likely nothing would happen ?

is that what you are saying ? or trying to say ?

  8. Hi Guys,

I have a question, It is a general question so just the other day while travelling in a Bus, while boarding it I got bumped into my head with the Roof of a bus right in my crown. This is not an area I have had a Transplant ever. So I got hit on my Native Hair Area, But It has made me a little worried the bump also gave me a lump/eruption (Swelling) the kinds when you get hit on your head with something. My question is, is there any chance that it may have uprooted or hurt any hair follicles and there by I may have lost any hair ? How do I ascertain that if I have lost any hair ? I am getting little worried. There was no Injury, or Bleeding just the Lump.

If there was any Hair Loss, what would have been the evident signs ?

Can anyone who has read into all of this or has experienced any such minor accident can shed some light on this ?

    Thanks

I agree with Dr. Khokhar and his elaborate explanation. There should be no effects at this stage. New vascularisation of the transplanted follicles happens after around a week from surgery. Always follow your surgeon’s advice ofcourse but I also see no concern there.

Hello Dr ! Have left a DM to you. Hopefully you have read it, and will respond to it at your earliest convenience.

    Thanks !

Alcohol thins your blood which can effect your blood clotting capacity, leading to excessive bleeding during the surgery and in the immediate days after when healing. My doctor said no alcohol the week before and at least 3 days after.

Exactly even my Doctor has advised not to take Alcohol only for 3 days not beyond that, and any ways I am taking here about having a very very mild Beer, that too at the most a Glass of two. I am not talking about Hard Drinks here with Higher Percentage of Alcohol in it.

So I guess that will be ok ? Will it not ?

    Thanks for the mention guys.

Yes you can switch to dutasteride considering you had no sides from finasteride. Be aware that the chance of sides can be higher. I think twice a week is reasonable although I think considering the way longer half life, that one weekly is also effective. It has a half life of weeks compared to hours for finasteride. Consider twice weekly but if you develop sides, then you can taper down to less than that and still get benefits imo.

But Dr. Is It ok ? And will it be sufficient if I keep myself to taking only Dutasteride 2 times a week. My dermatologist told me in your case now Finasteride would have already reached a plateau if you have been taking it for 3 years and yet you are saying your Mid-Scalp region is progressing with balding.

So would keeping myself only to Dutasteride twice a week be enough in restricting my further balding progression ?

I think fin 6x a week and dut once per week is good enough.

Who can tell me if taking only Dutasteride only 2 times in a week will be good enough to stop any future further progression of my receding hair and balding ?

My Dermat did advise me that, but I wanted a Confirmation like a second opinion on this.

  13. 58 minutes ago, Melvin-Moderator said:

It has a long half life, once a week is enough IMO.

Yes even that is what even I have been told twice a week is enough. But I have stopped Finasteride completely now. Don't know how wise is that decision ? Not to mention it wasn't really helping me ! Nothing Visible that I can make out.

A lot of Dr's also advise to take Finasteride on days when someone is not taking Dutasteride. So they advise a combination of Dutasteride and Finasteride.

  14. 5 minutes ago, Melvin-Moderator said:

Dutasteride is way more powerful, in theory, it should be more effective. It has shown to stop 90% of DHT, as opposed to 70% from finasteride. That’s pretty significant, of course, no one knows what the long term effects will be from inhibiting a hormone completely.

I wanted some feedback on the dosage of Dutasteride I have been advised which is twice a week. Does that sound too less or perhaps OK ?

I took fin daily for 2 years, and replaced that with daily Dut 1.5 yrs ago. If you have no sides from Fin you shouldn't have sides from Dut

I wasn't asking necessarily from a Side Effect Stand Point. I was asking more from efficacy point of view. Like is this dosage good enough to stop progression of my receding hair ?

And by the way Finasteride has given me horrible trouble. It has given me Acidity which is not going with even the best Medicines. I hate Finasteride for what it has done to me !!

I have seen now a Couple of Dr's prescribing Dutasteride in this dosage 2 or max 3 times in a week. Not more than that.

  16. Hey Guys,

I wanted to know what do you guys think about this ? I have been taking Finasteride since last 3 Years every alternate days. Despite that my progression of Losing Hair in the Mid-Scalp region has not stopped.

On my recent visit to a Dermatologist I have been told to stop Finasteride as the body would have reached to a plateau and taking anymore Finasteride would not help. And a evidence to that is despite me taking Finasteride my Mid-Scalp region still lost Hair and it has now started showing Scalp.

So I have been told to stop Finasteride completely and have been advised to shift to Dutasteride starting with taking it consecutively for 12 days and then reducing it and maintaining it to 2 times in a week.

What do you think about this new regime that that I have been advised ?

Do you think you have that many to harvest?...I hope that you do and BTW, I have never had anyone tell me that they lost sideburn hair due to MPB so IMHO, I do not think you would lose it once transplanted...hope this works well for you.

I know I was getting over ambitious when I said maybe 200-300 could be harvested from Sideburns 😄 Yes Realistically maybe 50 each side so 100 in total or best case scenario 200 Tops. What do you think ? How much can a Sideburn yield ?
